Hello? Is anyone there? Hellooooo. It’s me, Karen, calling on my fruit phone, because this eye makeup is BANANAS. 🍌🍌🍌
There’s a lot going on here, I know! Not my usual neutral style at all, but I was inspired by the rainbow eye makeup on the model for the new Wired pressed pigment palette. 🌈
Plus, I was in the mood to try something new, which I highly recommend doing as often as possible, even if your cat is the only creature around to appreciate it…
Or, maybe not, since I can’t tell if Rosie likes brights! 🐈
Just in case you’re wondering, the fallout on this isn’t an issue. I hardly had to do any cleanup with a makeup wipe, which was great, but I could have done with more intensity.
I had to boost the boldness of the blue and green by building up layers with a wet brush.
Because there’s enough color on my lids to rival a rainbow unicorn mane, I opted to keep the lips subtle with a peachy coral lipstick and gloss (MAC Fleur D’Coral Lipstick and Painted Lady Lipglass), and then topped things off with a soft wash of peach blush using a mix of MAC Cheer Up and That’s Peachy Glow Play Blush.
Even though this look isn’t exactly wearable, I think you should try it at least once with whichever brights you have on hand. There’s very little actual blending, and the hardest part, which wasn’t really that hard, was mapping out the placement of the blue eyeshadow — it’s tricky to figure out just how high up to go and how far to take it out, and I didn’t get the final idea of what made sense for my eye shape until I got to the very end and could make adjustments.
So, if you’re going to go for it, and I hope you do, know that it will probably look wonky-wonks until you get to the end…because then you can fully see whatever you need to tweak more clearly.
PROPS IF YOU’D ACTUALLY WEAR THIS OUT! I don’t have the guts. ☺️
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
So pretty! You look like a tropical bird! I see people out with crazier makeup so if I was skilled enough to do this look I would wear it out, at least to the grocery store!
Aww, what a nice compliment! Thank you, Rachel!
Aww this looks like so much fun! You look like paradise! I totally love that you don’t take makeup so serious!

Thanks, Sissi! I think makeup should be fun… It’s cool to experiment. 🙂
It’s very 80s music video (and rainbow unicorn, of COURSE). I love it! 🙂 I won’t wear any eyeshadow that’s not pink or brown in public but I definitely appreciate it on others. Did I tell you about the fella a couple of years ago at Sephora that had rainbow eyebrows? Very attention getting!
Yeah it is. I should be in a Duran Duran video!
Agreed! 🙂 I can’t imagine how many millions of posters were sold, too. Every girl I knew had at least one.
I would totally wear this out! I love bold bright hues and it’s fun to see them on you.

Thanks, Courtney! Hope you had a lovely day today.
I love it when you do a bright look! Brights look so beautiful on you, Karen!
You know what Wired reminds me of? The Electric palette. Now THAT was a palette worth living for.
I love this look! And Rosie is so pretty! 😻
I was totally gonna say it reminds of an on Cindy Lauper CD I have (80s music)!! I say the previous commenter and I were on the same page 🙂
Just love the colors on you and so refreshing! I adore you and your blog. I appreciate the approach to make up you offer and I love how authentic you are in your posts.
I can’t wait to get some color on! Spring is quickly approaching and I’m seeing such such fun colors pop up. Super adorable and sassy!
