MAC Loud and Clear, Glow Play Blush Collection Swatches on NC42 Skin

The MAC Loud and Clear Collection and Glow Play Blushes, both available now at select MAC locations and the MAC website

Man, I couldn’t get this on my arm and face fast enough. First of all, NEUTRALS. Second, MAC.

Seriously, too good.

Technically, you are looking at two LE MAC collections. One is Loud and Clear, which consists of single Eyeshadows ($18 each), Lipsticks ($20), Lipglasses ($18.50) and Extra Dimension Skinfinishes ($37 each), and the other is a collection of Glow Play Blushes ($30 cheek colors extraordinaire).

A few high-level observations:

  • The blushes are not in the standard-issue powder formula. They have a creamy, bouncy formula and feels gel-like. They’re silky. They’re soft, and they work best when applied with my fingers. I believe they’ll be fab friends to five-minute makeup.
  • As for the eyeshadows, they feel softer than usual, like they have more “give” than usual for MAC powder shadows. I have high hopes for them, especially because they appear to be more intense than usual, too.
  • If you like monochromatic looks, this is the collection for you. There are several coordinating eye/cheek/lip products (this becomes more apparent when you separate the items into color families). I love matchy-matchy makeup because I think it’s easy sophisticated, so I’m all about that life.
  • THE PACKAGING! It’s kinda Shu Uemura, yah? I’m into the clear cases, not just because they look cool, but they’re also practical, because it’s easy to tell what shade they are from the front and the back.

I love the clear packaging… So unlike the standard MAC black.

My heart beat double time when I took these out, and I accidentally said, “HOT DAMN!” in front of Connor (she’s in that phase where she repeats everything I say, so I try to limit the colorful curse words).

What do you think?! Excited as I am? 😁 Or do the neutrals make you wanna hit the snooze button? 🥱

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oooh I love that packaging! And I like the neutral colors, more wearable than brights! I finally tried a MAC retro matte lipstick! Got it at Nordstrom Rack. I like how it feels on lips and how long it lasts! Unfortunately it did not make it through my lunch consisting of an ahi tuna sandwich with fries (too greasy)!

      What color did ya get?

P.S. I just found out the pilates studio in my town has a free class on the weekends for new/potential customers!

I got “to matte with love,” kind of a fuchsia pink! Definitely try that Pilates! Great workout! I have to go back now after being gone for a week and it’s going to be hard!

The Glow Play Blushes sound a little like Bare Minerals Bounce and Blur Blush, which is 100% okay. I love B&B blush for 5-minute makeup and also natural look makeup. Definitely checking out Glow Play Blushes.

The eyeshadows aren’t doing anything for me, but I’m digging Baroque the Internet and Sugar Sweet Cameo. Yash reminds me of Pillow Talk.

Oh, the repeating stage- my favorite. 🤨

OH yeah, I like that Bare Minerals blush too, Suzanne!

The repeating stage has been going on for a while now… Seems like forever. LOL

Love the swatch of Groovy! So Natural also seems lovely, but may be a bit too light for me. I’m around NC42–do you find that So Natural shows up on your cheeks or does it just add more of a glow?

Agreed on the packaging and I love neutrals. Especially the browns. And reddish-browns. And pinkish browns. And brownish browns. HAHA! Oh, you’ll be in the repeater stage for a while. But, don’t worry, she’ll only repeat the things you DON’T want her to… 😉

Oh my gosh, I’m really learning this lesson, BIG TIME. Yesterday as we were getting in the car to go to preschool in the morning she looked at me and said, “Momma, I just can’t deal with you right now.”

      WHAT?!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
