10 Things I Love About Chanel

10 Things I Love About Chanel
10 Things I Love About Chanel

1. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Parfum

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Parfum
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Parfum ($110, 0.25-oz. bottle)

With notes of bergamot, orange, jasmine, rose, patchouli, vetiver, white musks and vanilla), Coco is classified as a fresh oriental fragrance, but I just think of it as a perfect date night outfit in fragrance form — elegant, yet playful, with one of those sexy winks.

Here’s a fun fact: in coming up with this famous fragrance, Coco Mademoiselle creator Jacques Polge tried to envision a scent that Coco herself might have worn had she celebrated her 21st birthday bash right at the dawn of the 21st century.

2. Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Malice

Scary name. Awesome blush.

If you’ve always liked the idea of NARS Orgasm but were kept away by its sparkly golden shimmer, then try the following: 1) pick up a pan of Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Malice, and 2) write yourself a note to remember to send me an invitation to the wedding, because you + this blush = lifetime of peachy pink happiness. 🙂

3. Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Pink Explosion

Chanel Pink Explosion

Malice all day errrday…except when I’m wearing Chanel Pink Explosion.

Boom.

This one’s a fireworks display of straight-up pink. Great for going all-out pink with pink lipsticks and glosses, and it looks killer with bright hot pinks or fuchsias.

4. The Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow

Chanel New Moon

It’s safe to assume that I have one of these jars of creamy goodness somewhere on my person or in my hotel room whenever I’m anywhere on a trip.

Most of the time it’s shimmery, bronzy golden Mirage or coppery reddish bronze New Moon.

All of them are easy to apply (just pat ’em on your lids with a finger). Plus they last all day.

Gosh, I love these… So many of them fall into my everyday makeup category. You can even wear the super glittery ones like Fantasme on top of other eye products as a glittery eyeshadow top coat.

5. Chanel Poudres Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder

chanel natural finish loose powder
Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder in 040 Dore ($52)

Dore is my champion in the ongoing battle of Karen Versus Her Pores.

Seriously, this loose powder’s skin-smoothing powers are surreal. The grains are imbued with pore-blurring powder-puffing magic that creates a hazy soft focus effect.

6. The Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colors

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Romanesque
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color in 50 La Romanesque ($36)

Cue exasperated sigh! The Rouge Allure Velvet Matte Lip colors are so comfortable, and so bewilderingly lightweight, that I really do forget that I’m wearing them sometimes, which is freaky considering that they’re mattes — you know, which are usually annoyingly heavy and thick.

There’s something about the finish… They aren’t 100% pure matte. The finish has a very faint, almost imperceptible sheen, but that’s the special sauce right there.

My favorite one these days has been springy, hot pink La Romanesque!

7. The brushes…

[Gulp] I say this a lot, but “the last thing I need in my life is…” another Chanel obsession. In this case a brush obsession, but I got a couple of travel-sized Chanel brushes (a cheek brush and an eyeshadow brush) for Christmas, and they are so freaking soft that I was doomed to become obsessed with them.

I’ve told myself that I can start with one of the full-sized ones, and then we’ll see where it goes… For now, major, MAJOR brush lust happening.

8. The limited edition-ness (yes, today this is a real word)

Chanel Camelia de Plumes
Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder in Platine, a soft platinum sheen ($72)

Fas as I’m concerned, Chanel’s right up there with MAC in terms of how well they dress up their limited edition pans.

Gosh, remember the feathers on Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder in Platine from the holiday launch, or the floral design on Jardin de Chanel Blush Camelia Rose?

Hello, you adorable little works of art. 🙂

9. Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Vert Khaki

Chanel Vert Khaki
Vert Khaki Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($29.50)

Vert is the wert! It’s also my summertime khaki jam. A golden khaki with Chanel’s secret shimmer, it releases essence of warm grayish taupe (goes so well with smokey looks) when you buff it out.

Try this someday because you won’t regret it: Vert Khaki on your lids with Malice on your cheeks and a coral lip.

Lurve.

10. Chanel Jade Nail Colour

This color… Agh!

Even after — I don’t know how many years — Jade takes my breath away.

I have yet to find anything in the jadeite color family that stacks up to it in my estimation, and it is guaranteed to put a little extra spring in my step whenever I see it on my tips or peeking up at me from my toes when I’m wearing sandals.

It will probably always and forever be my number one top Chanel nail lacquer love of all time.

Of course, I don’t have a backup [INSERT PANIC]…

But if they ever release Jade again, people better look out. I’ll be all over that like caramel on popcorn.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I need the eyeshadow! I’m such a huge fan of their mascaras and their eyeliner. I had trouble with the scent and flavor of the lipsticks, which is a shame because the formula is lovely.

Chanel makes the most beautiful powders! I’m seriously snagging the next one. No matter what lol. Also, thank you for featuring me this week! I love reading your blog and getting my daily dose of Tabs. You two are quite the dynamic duo!

I’m also a Chanel addict! There is no rehab in the entire world that can cure this addiction of ours, I believe. Lol!

La Romanesque is the star lipstick of the Spring collection, right? It’s also my favorite out of all that were released in that collection. I love how it looks full-on and also as a stain. I agree that their limited “edition-ness” items are the bomb. It’s such a shame to have to ruin the gorgeous and exquisite design patterns once they’re used. It’s really a must for me to photograph them before first use so I will have a remembrance of what they once looked like. 😀

Gosh, if I would ramble about all the things I love about Chanel, this would not be a comment anymore, but a blog post all by itself, so I would just stop here. 😉

Have a great day, Karen! Keep spreading the love, fellow Chanel addict. <3

chanels do not really perform that well on me. i prefer guerlain which very rarely a miss on me. however one thing i did adore was the rouge allure laque, sadly discontinued. i hoarded ming, a soft pink, and got a few other colors. whenever i see one on ebay with reasonable price, i pick it up. i now have a few empty tubes that i hope to find use for in the future. got ideas?

Malice! Can we just talk about Malice? NARS Orgasm scares the bee-jeezus outta me. So finding a blush that has a similar hue, so to speak, without all the glitter definitely piques my interest. Chanel is a brand that I plan to own VERY soon. Looking for the perfect peach and the perfect plum blush for my chocolate complexion. But whatever blush I find from Chanel that plays nicely with my brown complexion will definitely find its way to my home 🙂

    Their pretty ads…
One stop at Mostly Sunny had me convinced I needed more Chanel in my life, but I Managed to resist.
Now you keep pushing in the same direction. I will for sure fall (for Chanel) some day soon.

First, I’ve been dying to get Jersey on my cheeks. And, second you need Chanel’s Vitalumiere Loose Powder Foundation in your life, like, right now.

You had me at Malice. 😉 I also have to add that I strongly like, if not quite love, Le Volume de Chanel mascara. I’m working hard not to try anything else from Chanel that I might potentially need to repurchase for the rest of my life – my poor wallet cringes at the thought.

Lovely post and I enjoyed reading it very much! I haven’t got many Chanel products but I love what I have and I want more.
Now I’m really interested in the Poudre Libre because I have super large pores!! I’ll be writing that down on my wishlist!

I just adore Chanel. I am in overwhelming love with Tisse Rivoli quad, Le Volume mascara, and every single Rouge Coco Shine. Blush in Innocence, Les Beiges powder….I love Chanel. In the days before i developed a makeup obsession and started buying err’thing, I only used Chanel.

My Tuesday Tribute to Gabrielle (the French icon not my cat!):

A few spritzes of Coco Mademoiselle, followed by eyes done in

Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Tisse Gabrielle. And then on the lips, Rouge Coco Shine in Confident with Instinct layered over it.

    On the nails: Sweet Lilac.

The funny thing is the first thing I thought of when you said “Gabrielle” was your cat, LOL! You can see her as a Chanel kitty, oui?
