What’s Different About the New Benefit Full-Finish Lipsticks?

December 9th, 2010 by Karen 55 Comments

Wearing Benefit Full-Finish Lipstick in Wanna

Benefit’s boxed blushes aren’t the only girls getting new outfits for spring. In January the company’s Full-Finish Lipsticks ($18 each) are also getting gussied up, with thicker bullets and shorter tubes.

Benefit is phasing out all but one of the existing shades (UPDATE: I just received info from Benefit saying that they will not be phasing out all the existing shades of Full-Finish. Instead, they’ll be adding these 12 new shades to the current line. Some of the colors in the current line will remain and be repackaged into the new tubes. I’ll update you once I get word of which shades will be staying and which ones will be going.) Fame Game (from the It Girl Collection, Fall 2009), and introducing 11 new ones. But all 12 of them have the exact same moisturizing, creamy formula Full-Finish fans like us know and love.

The (NEW) Benefit Full-Finish Lipsticks…

  • Pillow Talk: a hot pink
  • Wanna: a raspberry
  • Espionage: a black cherry
  • Pinking of You: a pop of pink
  • Rumor: a rose quartz
  • Slow Zone: a tropical coral
  • Shy: a ballet slipper
  • Saucy: a sparkling tangerine
  • Fame Game: a dusty rose
  • I Tink I Love You: a bronze rose
  • Mod Squad: a shelly pink
  • Oh Currant: a berry wine

Don’t tell El Hub, but tonight I made out with Wanna, Shy, Espionage, Slow Zone, Pinking of You and Fame Game.

My lips love how soothing, smooth and creamy these feel, and my eyes love the pigmentation, particularly that of the darker shades, which apply a little more evenly than the lighter ones do. As for wear time, it’s a pretty typical three hours.

And speaking of pretty, that’s just what these are. 🙂

PRICE: $18 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming in January to Benefit boutiques, counters and benefitcosmetics.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

Don’t forget me, James Franco

I’m obsessed…with James Franco. I read a piece on him in Entertainment Weekly the other day, and apparently, homeboy’s quite driven and smart. Without putting his acting career on hold, he got his undergrad degree in English with his concentration in creative writing from UCLA last year, and is now working toward his PhD from Yale.

Wow, right? Dude knows how to get sh*t done. And all this time I thought he was just a pretty face.

Still, I have no desire to see 127 Hours, James Franco or no James Franco. I don’t think I could handle it. I mean, why didn’t homeboy just tell someone where he was going?!?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love the Full Finish lippies but I’m not keen on how quickly Benefit runs through their lipstick colours. Still, this probably means the older colours/packaging will be discounted which is nice! 😉 I think Slow Zone and Pinking of You look lovely on you.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, NO MORE JING-A-LING?!?!?!?!

Oh, Benefit, I hate you sometimes. I’m officially buying five thousand backups now.

    Wait, wait, wait, I’m safe. I just looked. It’s a silky-finish. Phew.

    Crisis averted.

I like the old stick. I find it easier to apply lipstick. Maybe it’s just me though.

I read the same EW article with James Franco and he does seem very cool. I’m with you on not wanting to see his new movie. It seems like it would be a very long episode of I Shouldn’t Be Alive.

PS I had a funny dream last night. You were helping me to pick out the MAC brush “gems” in some bargain bin dept store (a la TJ Maxx). It involved going through a bunch of random stuff and we finally found a fan brush in an “oh, grab that… quick!” moment.

I’m surprised at how orangey Slow Zone looks in its packaging and as a swatch, but on your lips it’s absolutely lovely! My grandmother was trying to find a peachy/orangey lipstick at Sephora last summer, and we couldn’t find ANYTHING that was close to what she had in mind. Neither could the staff. 🙁 I might have to check Slow Zone out when I go to Seattle for Christmas to see if it’s a color she might like…

      Hi Shannon,

I think she might really like this shade then. In the pic above I have it built up, but you can also take it down by dabbing the tube on the lips. It’s really, really pretty either way.
