Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion Highlighters in 01 and 02

Serious question: How did we survive without highlighter?

Sure, it’s not as essential as oxygen, food, Nutella, Netflix or water, but 10 years ago I didn’t even own a single highlighter, and now I have a drawer filled with them (all of which are necessary, of course).

And that drawer just keeps getting fuller and fuller. The latest additions to it have been the gorgeous Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion powder highlighters, which are $39 each and available now.

Basically, I think they’re epic. They have the same glossy, dewy finish as the MAC Cream Colour Bases, which have a fabulously shiny highlighter finish that stops short of frosty, but they come in a super fine powder formula instead of a cream.

Seriously, run a fingertip across one of the pans, and you can’t even see the grains!

I still love me some MAC CCB (especially Hush; it’s my jam), but I have room in my heart for perfect powder highlighters like these, which have a bit more oomph on my skin than MAC’s creams.

Also, if you love the wet finish that you get with the MAC CCBs (or, really, cream highlighters in general), but, for whatever reason, creams slip right off (it happens with oily skin a lot), these MUFE Pro Fusions might be an option for you because the powder grains really stay put on the skin.

Plus, hi! — that gorgeous, glossy glow…

It may be more accurate to call them opalescent. They shimmer, but the shimmer is a step up from the Hourglass Ambient Powders, and a step down from the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighters, which places them roughly halfway between “Wait, are you even wearing highlighter?” and “Hello, I can see your highlighter from across the Golden Gate Bridge!”

If you’re wondering why you should bother with a mid-level shimmer highlighter like this one, well, they really help with the big pore situation, I’ll tell you that much. No O.T.T. frosty highlighters for this girl. (At least, not until a beauty genius invents a permanent pore-shrinking solution… Somebody get on that, ASAP!)

There are two shades. 01 is a golden pink, which looks like liquid opal on the skin, and 02 is a yellow gold. MUFE says that 01 is for light-to-medium skin tones, while 02 is for medium-to-dark skin tones, but if you happen to fall in love with a shade not made for you, just wear it anyway! 🙂 The higher contrast will only make it more obvious, and that might be a good thing, especially if you like drama!

Apparently, I’m 18 years old and 5’7″…

I flat-out LOVE (probably a little too much) taking those random quizzes online that tell you, like, what type of cat you’d be if you were a cat (Persian, Siamese or Ragdoll?), or which celebrity is your beauty soulmate, or weather you would get along with Taylor Swift.

I just love ’em, and I think it’s because I spent my teen years in the ’90s, when you could open up a beauty magazine and always find a nonsensical quiz in the back. And they were always super fluffy and nowhere near accurate, but they were fun.

Anywho, a few weeks ago I took this one on Buzzfeed (they have the best random quizzes) titled, “Pick An Outfit, And We’ll Guess Your Exact Age and Height.”

You had to choose from among different items to make your outfit (tee shirt, pants, jewelry, etc.), and I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing, but…

According to Buzzfeed, I dress like I’m 18 years old and 5’7″ (I’m not).

Hmm…

Maybe this is the universe trying to tell me I need to step up my leggings game?!

Here’s the quiz if you want to take it, and if you do take it, you have to tell me what you got. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I don’t use highlighters much because my skin is oily and they make me look even more shiny. The quiz said I’m 5’9″ and 28. I’m 5’6″ and 33! There’s one where you take your picture and it guesses your age, it was a confidence booster for me!

    28 years old and 5’9″! That’s not too far off, I’m 29 and 5’7″.

I love highlighters. I’ve been rotating between the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone (they had a cute holiday set with a mini of this and the liquid version) and an Urban Decay highlighter in Sin. I got to test out a few from a friend of a friend who’s creating a makeup line though, and they looked fun!

    Hmm, according to the test I’m 18 years old & 5’7″ – quite a long way from 38 years old & 5’4″!

    Those are pretty!
Really no highlighters 10 years ago? I’m pretty sure I had a Mary Kay one by then, and I know I bought my first high end highlighting product in 2008 before my friend’s wedding. Highbeam! Ten years definitely doesn’t feel as long ago now as it used to. And I can’t imagine my life with nothing to highlight.

I got 18 and 5’7″ as well! Not too far off, I’m only 20, but I’m much shorter than that! Although my mom thinks I might have had a little growth spurt at school – I come up higher on her than I used to, and she certainly hasn’t shrunk.

These highlighters look right up my alley. I like creamy, shimmery-but-not-OTT powder highlights. I just wish there were more shades! I like my highlighters to be more neutral in undertone.

I hot 18 years old and 5′7″ 🙂 I’m 29 but the height is spot on. As for the highlighters, sooooo pretty on you! But unfortunately not right for me and my oily/shiny skin.

I got 21 and 5’4. Just add ten years and subtract four inches if you want the truth. 😛

I want 02. It looks so pretty!

I love those quizzes, too! This one said I’m 16 and 5’8″ when in reality, I’m 39 and 5’10”.

In makeup news, my cousin gave me a mini set of theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes lippies for Christmas. They’re not colors I would have chosen for myself and I’m so glad she gave them to me because I keep receiving compliments when I wear them. It’s great to have more people in my life who appreciate makeup!

Ooh shinies but ouch, the price… I really liked the BECCA ones for the ~DRAHMAH~. I just picked up one of the new NYX Duochrome Illuminating Powders (they’re smaller than expected but who REALLY finishes a powder highlighter?!) and Lavender Steel is rather pretty! ?

According to that quiz, I’m 16 and 5’7″. I wish I was that tall, could actually grab stuff from the top shelves then lol! I haven’t been 16 for 7, going on 8 years now ? Sorry I like leggings, sweatshirts, leather jackets and my Docs!

I got: 28 years old and 5′9″ the correct answer is 53 and 5’4″. From the other comments, our outfits are a testament to our collective youthful spirit.

I got the same quiz results as you. I’m 41 and 5’3″. Who knew sweatpants, boots and an army jacket makes me young and tall too! 🙂

I took that one and got 24 or 26 don’t recall which and 5’9″. I’m 38 and 5’5″! I guess I dress young and tall, lol.

I only own one traditional highlighter, the OG Becca Pearl SSP liquid. I’ve got a few multitasking products though that can double as highlighter. I really like the 01, I should probably pick up a powder highlighter at some point or even a cream.

Those highlighters. Look so pretty! Lately, I only bother with lip balm but these could go with a simple look yes? Haha

For the quiz – You got: 18 years old and 5′7″. Height is right but I’m no where near 18 anymore. Must be the hoodie & clunky boots lol

    Happy New Year!

I got 16 & 5’8″… I’m 43, and if I stand really straight, I can eke out a 5’3, LOL! Fortunately, I can easily pass for a millennial, so I don’t look too awkward in my fashion choices…

I just bought the pink highlighter last weekend; every Sephora store I’ve been to in the last 2 months was OOS, but I happened into a mall with a MUFE store, and bought it, although I was already way over my discretionary budget for the month. I can happily report it was worth the splurge! I’m fair with visible pores, so finding the right combo of color *and* formula is essential, and next to impossible.
