You Glow, Girl! Creamy, Luminous Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder in Moonstone

August 9th, 2013 by Karen 24 Comments

Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed
Thank you, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone… Now if I could only wake up looking like this, LOL!

I bet Ryan Gosling would notice when you were wearing the new Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector (because he’s dreamy like that!!), but odds are most people wouldn’t.

The luminizing face and cheek powder isn’t really one of those products that grabs you by the eyeballs and won’t let go, like
Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain Lipstick in Madame Batifole, which prompts peeps to cross busy streets to ask, “GUUURRRL, what’s on your lips!?”

Ya know what, though? That’s why I like it. 🙂

Moonstone gets a different kind of attention. It’s subtle, like a good perfume. Similar to when dudes wear flat-front pants pants instead of pleats, it’s not necessarily a dramatic change, but it’s a SERIOUS UPGRADE.

It’s something I’d wear when I want luminous, glowing skin that doesn’t look hella greasy.

Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed
Moonstone’s one of three new Shimmering Skin Perfectors available now exclusively at Sephora for $38 each.

But don’t freak out the first time you swatch this shimmery yellow gold. I should warn you — it looks crazy shiny at first, but once you buff it out, ooh, baby! It’s like late afternoon sun on your cheeks…

And get this — Moonstone is also kind to pores and fine lines.

I should know. I have both! 🙂 And when I wear it on my face/cheeks, I barely notice either.

The most similar products I can think of are the Ambient Powders by Hourglass, but Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors have a different texture.

In my paw (claw?) for scale…

Instead of going the traditional pressed powder route, which involves mixing and compressing dry ingredients, Becca blended pigments with liquid binders for a creamy texture.

Have you ever tried Estée Lauder’s Gelee Eyeshadows? Moonstone (and her sisters Opal and Topaz) have a similar silky feel.

I’ve been wearing Moonstone a lot these days, applying it after blush and bronzer. I load a tapered blending brush like the MAC 224 and sweep along my upper cheekbones and across the apples of my cheeks.

It’s an extra step, but really, not that much more effort, and I think it’s worth it for the radiant effect.

PRICE: $38
AVAILABILITY: A permanent collection product available now exclusively at Sephora and sephora.com

New workout jam!

Well, more like my new old-school workout jam. Lisa Lisa’s Take You Home.

It’s been my warmup song on the treadmill all week.

What a fabulously ’80s video! LL’s all-pink outfit, her culottes, the headband!

And what’s going on with that weird belly shirt on Full Force…?

Secretly, I still wish I could be Lisa Lisa circa 1987. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh my god, Karen — your eyes! *.* I don’t know if it’s Moonstone or those gorgeous, smoky blues, but something about this look definitely works.

    Talk about makeup envy! 😀

    Hi Karen,

I loved Moonstone in Becca’s liquid shimmering skin perfector. The pressed version looks gorgeous as well (and perhaps a bit easier to use!)

I’ve never used anything Becca! Now that Sephora carries their stuff, that might have to change, I want to try the cheek tint.

A luminizing powder that’s kind to pores – my dream product! Too bad Becca isn’t available in India. I’ve heard so much about these. And Lisa Eldridge uses the liquid versions of these in her videos too!

Wow, this really looks great. I honestly did notice the illuminating effect right away in your pic. Very nice!

And, I’m sorry for this mental pic but have you seen Anchorman? That’s all I can think of with the “pleated pants” and I’m totally laughing. 🙂

So beautiful! What are your thoughts about buying this Becca pressed powder over the Hourglass ambient lighting powders? I’m looking at getting one or the other but haven’t been able to find how they might be different.
