GHD Thermal Protector Spray Beats the Styling Heat

February 5th, 2009 by Karen 11 Comments

I’ve been flat ironing my wavy hair a lot since the Sedu Revolution (aka The Miracle Worker) entered my life, but all that hot styling can lead to split ends, blech!

What’s a girl to do?

Right now I’m using GHD Thermal Protector for Dry, Coarse Hair ($25). It’s a spray-on liquid styler designed to moisturize hair and protect it from heat damage. I spritz it on dry hair before flat ironing and then run the Sedu iron from root to tip.

It smells wonderful (like rose and sandlewood), enhances shine and even makes a difference in how my hair reacts to humidity.

If I’ve flat ironed and it begins to rain, my waves spring back — unless I’ve used Thermal Protector. This stuff keeps my hair stick straight, making it lay flatter and look straighter than the Sedu alone, no matter what the weather’s like.

I haven’t noticed any new split ends or broken pieces of crispy hair in the month I’ve been using Thermal Protector, and I sure hope it stays that way. I’ll keep you posted. 🙂

GHD Thermal Protector for Dry, Coarse Hair

Price: $25 for a 5.1 fl-oz spray bottle
Use: A moisturizing styling spray to fight frizz and protect hair from heat damage
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

One more thing — if you’re interested, GHD makes a couple more formulas, one for Normal to Fine Hair and another for Weak and Damaged hair ($25 each).

MAC attack!

Hey, MAC-aholics, didja snag any of the new Creme Team lipsticks or glosses today? I’ll have some thoughts on the release up soon. 🙂

In other news, Tabs can’t stop talking about MAC Hello Kitty. It’s “meow” this and “meow” that. He sounds obsessed!

Yup, MAC Hello Kitty makes her debut next week. My nearby Nordstrom MAC counter has been taking pre-orders, and I must confess… I really want the Beauty Powders, meow!

The Lipglass colors, though — I keep waffling back and forth between ’em. I think I can wait to see those in person.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Can’t wait for Hello Kitty. MAC is really breaking the bank this month.
I got Creme in Your Coffee and Creme Anglaise today.

AH. I can’t wait for HK to come out. I want the keychain, purse mirror and Lucky Tom palette. Pre orders eh? Maybe I need to stop by and do that myself to make sure my things don’t get snagged very quickly. Thanks for the review on teh GHD spray. I’ve been using treseme and have honestly not particulary seen a difference. :/

    Hi Brittnie,

Nice! I thought that was a very pretty color. I ended up walking away with Lavender Whip and Ever So Rich. 🙂

I can’t wait for those Beauty Powders. They are my weakness!

    Hi Stephie,

Yah! Call your counter and see if they’re doing that. My friend who works there called me last week to let me know that lots of the items were selling out!

I had to nab the pretty gray nail polish, I might also grab a glitter liner! Although, from what I’ve seen, there’s just not that much that I want! All the lippies look too sheer for my blood (a pity, I had such high hopes for Fast Friends)!

Happy Thursday, the weekend is almost here! 😀

    Hi Glosslizard,

Gray glitter polish is so you. 🙂

My friend showed me a swatch of the liner at the counter and it looks very pretty. *gasp!* Could it be… GOOD GLITTER?!?

Where did these week go? I feel like I woke up on Monday and all of the sudden Friday’s here. Too bad the sun went away, boo.

My stylist uses the GHD thermal protecter when I go to her but I prefer to use kerastase cimtent thermique, while my hair is damp before blow drying, it protects from the heat of the dryer too and the ongoing conditioning strengthening ingredients are activated by the heat. Plus it smells like grapefruit so its lovely to use! I couldn’t manage without my GHD straighteners though, they were the best birthday present ever!

    Karen- Ladies,
I have been looking at the Sedu and GHD flat irons-trying to decide which one I want. Since this will be my first “pricey” flat iron I’m on the fence about which one to choose. Can yall give me some feedback? I have naturally curly hair and it’s thick.

    Hi Karen,

I just purchased a Sedu Revolution due to your high praise and you were right! That thing is amazing!!! I never understood why I could never get my hair to do the things at home that it does at the salon until today. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
