The Sedu Revolution Styling Iron Giveaway!

December 5th, 2008 by Karen 192 Comments

UPDATE: The contest is closed. Congrats to Indian Girl, who won the Sedu Revolution Styling Iron!

Girl, my hair has been working my last nerve! It’s getting long, feeling heavy and always up in my mix, gahhh! I’ve been thinking about getting a haircut but haven’t been able to choose a new style.

But you know how it is when you know you want a change but can’t make a decision. Sometimes, after enough time spent waffling, you just snap! I don’t want that to happen, so in an effort to prevent my own personal bald Britney moment (seriously, I’m two seconds away from chopping it all off!) I’ve been flat ironing with the new Sedu Revolution Professional Nano Tourmaline Ionic Styler ($139), a one-inch plate flat iron that even does curls and waves.

Who’s that girl? Is that Marcia Brady, LOL!

The Revolution works fast, heating up to 450 degrees F in about a minute. Yes, that’s seriously *HOT*, but Sedu says the Revolution causes less heat damage than most flat irons thanks to so-called infrared ceramic heating elements in the plates. Set at 390 degrees, the recommended temperature for normal hair, I’ve gotten good results and haven’t seen any signs of damage to my hair, but as with all heating flat irons, please be careful.

At that temp it takes me two slow passes with the iron to straighten one batch of hair — not only straighten, but also shine. I can’t believe how shiny this thing makes my hair, KABAM!

Because the Revolution’s plates are curved, you can also use it to curl and make waves. Since my hair’s naturally wavy, I probably won’t use it to curl very often, but you never know. And the company was good enough to bundle the iron with a Styling Guide DVD, showing how to use it for different looks. 🙂

Something else I like about the Revolution… It’s travel friendly. It weighs less than it looks like it should and even comes with a heat-resistant storage pouch perfect for carry-on bags!

OOOHHHH I want, I want! I have FOUR flat irons, all CRAP! Though I have stick straight hair naturally, I always smooth out the sides anyway with one because my hair is fine and gets *weird* if I don’t. I just haven’t invested in a decent flat iron yet and this one sounds fab!

I’ve had a sedu flat iron in the past and it is the best flat iron I have ever used, and I’ve had multiple professional irons, (I’m in the hair business). There is no comparison to how quicky this makes your hair poker straight and shiny like glass. I was looking at this flat iron a couple of weeks ago online and they were all sold out for the moment of this new sedu. Maybe Santa will bring me one.

My hair if fairly straight, so I never thought I needed a flat iron, but damn, if it will make my hair look that glossy, I think I really need THIS flat iron. And if it would put a little wave in it, that would be a total bonus.

I actually haven’t been using a flat iron for 3 or so years now since I’ve been trying to minimize breakage and split ends in my hair, but I find that I think I was better off just using the flat iron and having smooth, manageable hair (my hair is actually naturally thick and wavy, and on bad hair days…well, it’s not too pretty. Lol.)

I’m in search of a new flat iron so it would be awesome if I won!

The Sedu is the best flat iron I’ve ever owned — but unfortunately, my cord wore thin, and the things stopped working two days before my honeymoon.

Worse,my boyfriend, who had bought it for me as a birthday gift, had tossed the receipt — meaning I couldn’t fall back on the warranty.

Seriously, nothing compares — not Paul Mitchell, or Bed Head, or anything!

Unfortunately, flat ironing can leave you with those pesky little fly-aways. To cure, simply spray a light hold finishing spray in your hand and smooth over surface of your hair. Voila, smooth as glass!

To curl with a flat iron:
    1) At the base of the hair, place a combed, tangle free section of hair roughly 1 1/2 inches wide and no thicker than 1/2 inch in the iron.
    2) Turn the iron 1/2 revolution
    3) Using a bit of tension, pull through to ends with a smooth, continuous motion.

    Think of curling ribbon!

    Pick me. Please 🙂

I’ve been using the Chi which, when I bought it less than a year ago, was supposedly the “best on the market”. I don’t know if I would hype it that much though, it’s been alright but now it’s starting to have technical issues (won’t heat up). My hair NEVER looks “alright”, let alone polished, if it hasn’t been straightened–ugh, I hate it! Frizzies all over and none of the serums or creams help!

On a side note, I love creating beachy waves in my hair using a straightener. I feel like having pin straight hair hasn’t been “in” in quite a while–it looks a bit old and outdated I think. Beachy waves are my new favorite way to use a straightening iron.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
