Dior Goldrush Summer 2008 Collection: Swatches and Pics

Who loves gold, khaki and coral? I do! I do!

How ’bout Dior? Do you love Dior? Because I sure do. I got my paws on a few items from Goldrush, Dior’s new summer collection. It’s a limited edition being delivered to your nearby Dior counter as we speak. Dior has given us some new eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses, a blush, a highlighter and nail polishes in coordinating tan, coral, khaki and gold.

I really like the 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Golds 569 ($52).

Pretty, yah? The eyeshadow palette pictured above houses five shades — a beige, bronze, copper, gold and khaki, all wrapped up in a sleek, midnight blue, trademark Dior compact.

I couldn’t wait to start playing with these colors.

The texture of these eyeshadows is similar to that of Chanel’s…

How do you like the shimmer?

If you’re feelin’ the eyeshadow shimmer, then you’ll also dig Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect in Coral Lame (pronounced lam-ay) 337 ($24.50).

dior-goldrush-summer-2008-addict-ultra-gloss-coral-lame

It reminds me of Chanel’s Gazelle but has a thinner texture. Color-wise, it leans more toward peach than pink, and the glitter in this is a touch chunkier than the glitter in Gazelle. Still, it’s tasteful and totally appropriate for day wear (not obnoxious or club glitter at all).

This was my first Dior gloss, and I’m in love. I wouldn’t say it’s quite as moisturizing as Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear, but I prepped my lips with Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick beforehand, and that provided some extra moisturizing oomph.

Last, but certainly not least, take a look at this drop-dead gorgeous piece of princess treasure bling! Dior hid their new Golden Dior ($55), a shimmery golden cream highlighter (for eyes, lips and cheeks), in it. Isn’t it cute?

Goldrush reminds me a lot of Chanel’s Summer 2008 collection, which is why I’m loving on it so much! That said, Goldrush feels a little more extensive than Chanel’s summer offering, and I can’t wait to see more. Tonight I rushed to get these photos and my first impressions on the blog, but I’ve got even more Dior goodness lined up for you soon.

What say you? Are you feeling Goldrush?

Wow, ya’ll, what happened to Tuesday? It’s like I blinked at noon and woke up at 9:30 tonight. Where does the time go?

Time for a late dinner (tomato and red pepper soup with a spinach salad) and an hour of fine television fare in the form of Miss Rap Supreme.

How was your day?

    Hi Julie,

RIGHT?! Do you have a fave Dior eye palette? I think I’m jonsing for another one, wheee! :)

  3. These new Dior Goldrush Summer 2008 colours are simply divine. They have quite the lovely palette of gold colours and I think these colours might work on any women, any skin tone and they would be smashing on women over 35.

This is great option for women who will bypass this summer’s orange makeup trend!

    Hey Gisele,

Yup, they’re gorgeous…I think women of all ages can rock this!

  5. Dao says:

Looks very pretty and summery. The bronze colors look so pretty on you. One time I had this bronze trio that looked so pretty in the box but on me the colors were too dark. A trip to the beach and bam! They looked just right :D Later on my mom claimed it since she has darker skin tone and it worked wonderfully nice on her.

The bling piece looks like something Serena Williams did about 2 years back for Flirt cosmetics (the one sold at Kolh’s). Owning a piece of Dior is like having the bragging right, you know. Lots of eyes are on you when you whip out that cute Dior lipgloss, try it in the next party you go and you’ll see :)

  6. Sal says:

That, is gorge. Did you use the khaki as a liner?
I just found out they have special med student cocktail nights and balls. All’s not lost! Maybe sometime you could show us your take on the sexy doctor look. Heheh.

I just got a Dior reflects myself, Stretch Brown (537). It goes perfectly over my Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pink Truffle- my holy grail find for early morning cadaver classes and crazy long lectures. Doubles as cheek colour so I’m all set! The Dior gloss over it is perfect for evening drinks with the *ahem* hot lecturer later on.

    *big grin*

  7. Glosslizard says:

What fabulous colors! So far out of my color range, I’ll just admire them from afar! :)

Gotta say, my morning stunk, but my afternoon made up for it! Just got back from aikido and now it’s time for a hot shower and bed! Aaaaaah!

  8. Karen says:

    Hi Dao,

Girl, I wish I could get my mom to wear eye makeup. She doesn’t even own a lash curler (sigh).

It’s interesting how colors can shift with your skin tone! I’ve noticed that in addition to eyeshadows, certain lipsticks will look completely different in winter and in summer.

I will try that the next time I’m out with the girls! BAM! Dior lipgloss! :)

  9. Ditte says:

It looks fab – I might have to get that palette too – although I have 4 unused Dior 5-colours :o

Can we see your whole face? :)

  10. Karen says:

    Hi Sal,

I used MAC Coffee by itself on the top lash line. I used it again on the bottom and smudged the khaki on top with the MAC 219 pencil brush. LOL, I will try to channel my inner sexy doctor and see what I come up with, ha!

Oh! Now I wanna check up on that Stretch Brown! Hot lipgloss + hot lecturer + evening drinks = HOLLA! :)

  11. Karen says:

    Hi Glosslizard,

Oh no! What happened? Whatever it was, tomorrow is a new day. :)

Hope you had fun at aikido, you martial arts momma!

  12. Karen says:

    Hi Ditte,

I’ll do a FOTD with these if you’d like. I just did bits and pieces for this post because while I was playing I was in my jammies and my hair was all messed up, LOL.

  13. Jeanne says:

Oh, beautiful! I’m always a sucker for gorgeous warm metallics, and these are lovely (but sigh, $52…). Plus coral lip gloss – holla! I keep forgetting how much I like coral on my skintone. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection, including the other 5-eyeshadow set, Goldfever.

I woke up this morning and thought it was Wednesday! Noooope.

Wow Karen, this is the first item on my lemming list! I the colours, and the shimmer’s perfect too. I do not shy away from shimmer, lol. The only prblem is..it is pricey! I shoudl save this up for my bday or something, but that’s in November :(. (If I have a fairy godmother/father, please, this is when I reallly need you :P)
Everything looks perfect – the e/s, the gloss and the highlighter! And this time I know they will suit my skin..why Make/up God, why? Why you doing this to me…..

    Hi Karen!

I stop by to read your blog all the time, but I’m a comment virgin! I really enjoy your posts, so thanks for the blog!

Anyway, re Dior, I am very fair, cool-skinned, blonde, and blue-eyed, and the Gold quint was too warm for me. Similarly complexioned people be warned. However, their companion palette, Goldfever, was absolutely perfect for my complexion. It’s colorful and shimmery without being OTT. Also, Coral Lame gloss looked great both on me and my darker-complexioned neighbor.

Have you tried any of the lipsticks?

  20. Chantal says:

    Gawd,d colors r so “rich guru” style n d shimmer is not 2 shimmer-y n has d color very visible!i don’t mind splurging(AL-LOT)on beauty products,i mean,we all know “beauty is within”,but really,u hav 2 agree dat u can’t live w/ MAKE-UP=d greatest thing on earth.Anyway,luh-v d lippie n palette but i don’t use eyeshadow much. d necklace(or something)is very cute n stylin’! Chanel/Dior???: undecided. XOXO

pretty, pretty! I’ve never used any dior…but I have tons of shadows similar to those colors so I’ll have to pass this time (and yeah, pricey!). but you are killing me with these pretty coral lipglosses! i may cave on one soon. :-) so summery.

okay well have a nice day! i realllly enjoyed reading this entry :)
    take caree!

  28. Karen says:

    Hi Jeanne,

I know, right? I am going a little gold/coral crazy and I’m LOVING IT!

    Are you a Dior fan?

  29. Karen says:

    Hi Iheartmakeup,

Me too! They can and I cannot resist them. ;) I need a good coral lip liner… got any suggestions, girlfriend?

  30. Karen says:

    Hi Ilovecheese,

Girl, November is too far away. Put it on your list and then think about it for the next two weeks; perhaps “visit” with it at the counter a few times if you’re feeling motivated. If after that time frame you still want it then go for it! If you know you’re going to wear these colors often and if they complement your skin tone then they are worth the $$$… just ease up for the next month on other stuff. That’s what I try to do, at least ;)

  31. Karen says:

    Hi Karen B.,

Oh, so sad! I wish you could go. But alas, education comes first, so…

Anyway I’d give them a call to cancel. Even if it’s the day of they really appreciate it.

  32. Karen says:

    Hi Jojoba,

Hey girl! Thanks for bookmarking. :) I haven’t seen 809 Petal Shine but will now have to investigate, as the Dior glosses are very pretty. Love the packaging, too!

  33. Karen says:

    Hi Aleks!!!

How are you? I hope you’re enjoying your vacay! Whee!

Sounds like you had a fun Tuesday (so off topic, but I’m terrible at badminton…any time there’s a sport with a projectile is involved I’m bad at it, LOL)! How’s the cleaning going? Are ya done yet/ You are so good with keeping stuff tidy!

  34. Karen says:

    Hi Faye,

It’s great to mee you, girl! I’m glad that you are lovin’ on the Goldfever! I haven’t checked out the 2nd quint but now I’m very curious about it.

I haven’t tried any of the lipsticks out yet but they are on my list, WHEEE!

Are you a Dior fan? I love their concealer (I’m wearing it today, got undereye circles from Hades)!

  35. Karen says:

    Hi Chantal!

Go for both, girl! For sure don’t miss out Gazelle. :)

  36. Karen says:

    Hi Anna,

I haven’t tried that one out! One more to add to the list, yay!

How’s your day been so far?

  37. Karen says:

    Hi Megan,

I know, right? They are super easy to apply to and blend like a dream! :) What’s going on with you today?

  38. Karen says:

    Hi Amanda,

Ohhh, girl. I got the coral fever, it’s true. ;) Just try Coral Lame out for kicks if you can…

  39. Karen says:

    Hi Tanya,

Awww, that’s too bad. I’ve felt the same way too in the past with pastel quads that are just so pretty but totally unwearable on me. *pouts*

I hear that the second quad is cooler…I haven’t seen it yet but will try to get my hands on one.

  40. Karen says:

    Hi BeautyTalk,

Yup! You better snag it so you can get the goldfever too, woot!

  41. Karen says:

    Hi Jana,

Oh, nice! I was just looking at my Heatherette trio today and thinking that I gotta do another look with it soon. Are you picking up any bits of the collection? :)

    Hi Karen!

I am a Dior fan — my very first counter makeover was at Dior (my mom scheduled it for me! She also scheduled my second counter makeover, at MAC — and now she complains about how much make-up I buy!).

    Happy Wednesday!

  47. Karen says:

    Hi Jeanne,

Girl, that’s hot. Do you guys go makeup shopping together? My mom took me to Clinique waaay back in the day when I first started wearing makeup (she didn’t want me to look garish, apparently).

I’m guessing you are DiorShow fan, then!

  48. Aleks says:

    Hey ya!

I’m great, thanks! Finally recovering from a nasty flu that I had for a week. Now mom’s ill, too, so I’ve been cleaning and cooking. Hahah, maybe I sound like a tidy person, but the truth is I’m not (shocking, huh) :D Even now my room is a big fat mess, lol. It appears that despite all the cleaning, my room is terribly messy right after the hours of cleaning ;P How are YOU? :)

Haha, we can’t be good at everything! You go to dance classes so I guess you’re good at it and have a good sense of rhytmn. I don’t! ;D I’ve seen many men dancing better than me, mwahah. I’m not an avid fan of sports, but somehow I’m diggin’ badminton. Bowling is fun, too!

By the way, have you got your hands on the Lancôme lipstick yet? :) Enjoy your evening, I’m off to bed now!

  49. Karen says:

    Hi Aleks,

I’m glad you are feeling better. I hope your mom gets well soon. Aww, that’s great that you’ve been chipping in to cook and clean. Good girl!

I have been great. This week my work load has been much lighter, and I’ve been getting more sleep, which makes a huge difference in how I view the world, LOL. I am looking forward to a few fun things this weekend — dinner with friends, dancing with my best guy pal and perhaps coffee with a blogger buddy of mine who is visiting SF!

Oh girrrrl, I’m so not feeling the bowling. I don’t bowl. Nope. I did it once (and the funny thing is, I hit all the pins without even trying) and that’s all I needed to do in this lifetime, LOL!

I haven’t hung out at the Lancome counter lately, BOO! But this Friday I should have some good free time to hit my nearby mall up and browse my little heart out. :)

Have a good day tomorrow and keep smiling!

  50. Cathy says:

    Hi Karen,

I am a Dior fan too! Right now on my nails I’m wearing Pink Socialite #470 and one of their products I can’t live without is Diorshow Blackout Mascara. Now I’m going to have to try the Golds 569.

  51. Faye says:

    Hi back, Karen!

Goldfever is really nice – it seems to work on all kinds of complexions. As I mentioned, I’m super-fair, but I have a friend who is Cuban and she loves it too.

I’ve only recently gotten into Dior, I guess because I’ve been too busy accumulating piles of stuff in every other brand (Chanel, MAC, Guerlain, Estee Lauder, Lancome, and Clinique, I’m talking to you!). Does their undereye concealer come in light colors too? I could certainly use something new for mine.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cathy,

I am huge fan of DiorShow! I can’t even begin to tell you how many tubes I’ve gone through. Okay, so you’re gonna laugh but I actually never tried the Blackout version! I just haven’t gotten around to doing it yet. :)

Right now though, my fave thing from Dior is the concealer. I’d look like a zombie without it!

  54. Karen says:

    Hi Faye,

I’m in your same boat – been busy stockpiling other stuff in various lines as well, LOL. Yes, the concealer comes in lighter shades; I have the darkest one and truth be told it ain’t that dark. But it works for me! What’s really great about it is you barely have to use any of it and it covers up everything. Plus, it doesn’t budge, yet it still looks seamless. It’s kind of hard to use but once you figure it out it’s fab. I’ve been wearing it everyday for the past few months and I love it. :)

  55. Karen says:

    Hi Karen B.,

At those events I think that people cancel often though, so I don’t think it’ll be a big deal. How was your extra class today? I hope it was kinda fun, at least!

  56. Karen B says:

It was okay. Just an hour extra solfège or however you call it. And choir was half an hour longer, so actually it was two extra hours.
First time in a long time that my voice was actually warmed up so that’s good.

    Hi Karen,

I had my eye on the Golden Dior charm ever since I saw it, what do you really think of it? Is it worth the money, and how is the highlighter inside? I have fair skin so I want to make sure it’s a worthwhile purchase ;-)
