Two Ways to Win MAC Smolder Eye Kohl and Greetings from California

Published in: Just For Fun, MAC Makeup

The eagle has landed, ladies! I’m back at home in Cali, eating chips for dinner and chatting with Tabs (he says hi, BTW).

I just saw myself in the mirror, and I look a fright! — kinda like how I used to look back when I was first trying to do smokey eyes.

That reminds me of something MAC VP of Makeup Artistry Gordon Espinet told me about MAC Smolder Eye Kohl. He described a way to use it to create a really easy smokey eye.

Smolder’s a creamy black (one of my favorite smokey eye products), perfect for classic black versions of the look or goofy twists like this Halloween one here.

As part of MAC’s permanent line, it’s been easy to find for a while, but they decided to re-promote it with Style Black.

Hmm… Feels like time for a giveaway!

The prize

One lucky lady will receive a tube of MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder from the Style Black Collection (a $14.50 value).

How to enter…

2ways2enterEntering is easy. There are two different ways, and you can do both of them for two chances to win.

First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post. In it, tell me how you’d wear (or have worn) Smolder.

I like to layer it beneath MAC Club, a duo-chrome (changes colors in the light) powder shadow, for a blueish green smokey eye.

I’ll wear smolder with a nice smokey eye cause this eye kohl is so easy to smudge! 🙂 it’s great to rim the eyes & create that deep sultry look

As a regular liner (oh heyyyyy winged liner!) but I’d totally wear it as a base under the gorgeous Style Black shadows 🙂

  9. Nina says:

I just smudge it along my lash line for a “smolder” effect with tons of mascara and a neutral shadow.

  10. Nicole says:

I’d apply Smolder really heavily & smudge it really well for a sexy look along w/ smoky silver & black, glittery eyes & nude lips. 🙂

My go-to smokey eye is using Blanc Type for a highlighter, Satin Taupe all over the lid and blended up above crease, then Carbon in the crease. Add some Smolder on both upper & lower lashes. Then a bit of Platinum piggy at the tearduct and the inner third of lower lashline.

    I just RT’d — theotherworldly on twitter

  24. Karen B says:

I’d use it to do an extreme catliner with amberlights on the lid and on the inner corner. I think the intense black would offset the goldish-bronzy colour ^^

Wow you got home quickly! I’m glad you had a safe flight home. I love the feeling of just arriving back at home knowing my bed (along with a gooood nights sleep) is waiting for me.. 🙂 Yessss..

Ah, yes & also I love *Smolder*. I find myself using it quite often for both casual & nighttime looks. I have brown eyes so black isn’t too dramatic on me, anyway. I usually put it on the outter corners of my top/bottom waterline to kinda draw more attention to my eyes. Ha! You really love that Club es dontcha 🙂

I’d draw a thick line near my lashes and then i’d take a shader brush and smoke it out.

  58. Marwa says:

    Hey Karen,

I was wondering if you could show us what it looks like when you use this kohl eye pencil and how to apply it. I have the Givenchy Magic Kajal which is very similar to this MAC product. It’s really glossy, and extremely black which I love. The only prob is that it smudges like crazy when I put it on my water line!

    Thanks girl!

  59. emily says:

I would used it on my bottom lashline and line my inner corners with a gold liner. Then I would make a smoky eye with purple eye shadow 🙂

I love smolder! I would love to win one to replace the one that’s almost gone in my stash. How I use it: I tightline the upper lash line, line my lower water line, and then line the top lids and wing it out a little for a smokey cat eye. Then I take a pointy tip q-tip and lightly smudge the upper and lower lashlines. I use this look with any color eyeshadow to make a smokier eye.

  79. amber says:

Oooh smoldering 😉 I’d like to use Smolder to line the lower water line, use it to tight line the top, then create a cat eye using Smolder and Blacktrack. Then sweep Silver Ring shadow, and Knight Divine shadow to make a smokey eye effect, then add some pretty false lashes.

  90. amy says:

I would line it thickly and smudged out on both upper and lower lash lines and use Smoke and Diamonds all over lid. To finish I would wear lots of black mascara and a pair of faux lashes.

I would use it just to line the the top lash line and use it with a medium gray shadow for an elegant smokey eye.

  101. Basak says:

I love Smolder. I use it everyday, tightline upper lid and put a little as a liner and smudge. It is so soft so it takes time to get a hang of it. If you are not used to using such a soft kohl bear with it, grows on you. Makes great base, you can do a mokey just with this pencil.

I would use it at my top lash line for a smudgy cat eye effect… I’d like to try it with my new eye primer by Guerlain that I just bought this weekend!

  134. Sarah says:

Ohhh, I’ve been hankering for a new eye liner! I dont know why I bought one with subtle glitter, and that just makes it harder for me to get it on smoothly…

  135. Sarah says:

    I can’t believe I forgot to include how I would use it…
