Makeup Breakdown: The Better Than False Lashes Look From Too Faced Cosmetics

A Too Faced Cosmetics Makeup Breakdown

My new fave makeup look…

Hello and welcome to the hump! I’ve been awake since the crack of dawn because your nephew has figured out a new way to annoy me.

A good 30 minutes before my alarm’s supposed to go off, he claws at the side of the mattress so that I’ll wake up and feed him the gravy he so richly deserves.

Feel my wrath, woman

Tabs isn’t exactly a kitty rocket scientist, but when it comes to food, the gears in his tiny brain churn just enough for him to put two and two together. Ah, the joys of pet assisting a plus-size diva super star…

Needless to say, I’m feeling like I need an extra jump start to go along with the coffee this morning, so I’m thinking about re-creating the same look I wore in the Too Faced Better Than False Lashes post from the beginning of the week. I feel extra sassy when I’ve got this makeup on, and it’s my new favorite look. :)

I guess you must like it too, because I’ve gotten a lot of requests for a step-by-step breakdown. So here it is!

Since it was a post for Better Than False Lashes (by the way, have you entered the giveaway yet?), I’m wearing mostly Too Faced makeup.

You read my mind! I was loving this look when I read the first post. I officially need Juicy Melons (ahem….) and already have Shadow Bon Bons. I need to play with this look!

Today I’m wearing Tarte Exposed, Revlon Nude Lustre gloss, and NARS And God Created Woman (Alhambra inner half, Bellisima outer half and crease, Coconut Grove outer V) with a touch of Stila Stay All Day Liner in Black. And of course some bronzer (TF Chocolate Soleil), because, you know, girl can’t go without!

It’s hard to remember other shadows exist….

I love Too Faced; they’re definitely my favorite brand. And La Creme is just fantastic.

    Today I’m wearing:
Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in Snow Glow
    Urban Decay Primer Potion
Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette in Kiss the Bride, Soul Mates, Cut the Cake, and First Dance.
Maybelline Eye Studio Eyeliner in Black.
Maybelline One By One Volume Lash Mascara
Sephora Collection Smoothing Translucent Setting Powder
Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Baked Stardust
Too Faced La Creme lipstick in Naked Dolly

I love that lipstick color on you! Since it looks like it’s going to rain, I’ll be wearing waterproof eyeliners, specifically Rimmel’s scandal eyes pencil in purple.

      Hi Chris,

You know I love me some purple liner! How does that shade you’re wearing today handle the water lines? I need something that won’t budge.

  5. Ruchita says:

Haha, I love that pic of Tabs! I have to agree, he is a bit of a diva. :-)

I’m also rocking Too Faced today. I’m wearing the “Classic” look from the Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection along with Buck and Naked from the original UD Naked palette. MAC Carbon smudged along the upper lash line and L’Oreal Voluminus mascara.

For blush, I’m wearing Girly Show from the TF In Your Dreams Palette.

Mingy used to be very vocal in the mornings and would jump on the bed walk around and jump off – multiple times. He’s been more subdued the past few months though and doesn’t wake us up too much.

On the weekends, I’ll usually stumble downstairs, get everyone fed and head back to bed. :-)

    • Karen says:

      Hi Ruchita,

“A bit of a diva.” You’re being kind, LOL! You know he’s like the cat version of Mariah Carey!

At least Mingy used to just jump off the bed, rather than using various body parts as a springboard. I’m really glad Tabs has gotten over using my tummy as his launching point. That was not a fun time.

Your look sounds really pretty, btw. Perfect for work.

One last thing: a million thank yous for introducing me to the “awaiting response” email folder. It’s helped me a lot over the last week! :)

      • Ruchita says:

I’m so glad the email tip helped!

Mingy is a big boy too, so I’m glad he’s never done the tummy launch. That would be a rough way to wake up!

I did take him out in the snow the other day. He wasn’t as crazy about it as last time and actual went back inside on his own. That was a first! I did get some pics though that i’ll send. :-)

        • Karen says:

I’m going to make myself an Excel spread sheet, too, over the weekend. :) Woo hoo! Organization!

The tummy launch is NOT fun. It’s better than the boob launch though.

Hmm, I wonder why Mingy didn’t want to play. Tabs does that sometimes, too. He makes a huge fuss to be let out, but once he’s out, he immediately wants to come back in. Cats!! They’re so nuts.

          • Ruchita says:

Oof, the boob launch would be bad! When I took Mingy out, it was snowing a bit and his fur was getting wet. Also, the snow on the ground was heavy and wet as opposed to light and fluffy like last time. He decided it would be better to go into the warm house and eat dinner instead. :-)

          • Karen says:

It is terrible. It’s like he has some kind of radar to find the most tender parts to launch off of.

I LOVED that pic of Mingy. The red harness looks so good against his fur. :)

  6. teresaCHIC says:

Absolutely gorgeous and stunning, Karen, as ever! Thank you for telling us what you were wearing. I picked up Juicy Melons as a gift for my mom, looks like I may be going back to get one for me :)

  7. Jasmine says:

For a long time now, the only thing I can seem to focus on is how FREAKING GORGEOUS your hair is… omg just the color and everything!

Oh gosh, thanks Jasmine! It’s gotten to that point in the hair cycle where it’s behaving. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before it revolts.

How are you wearing your hair these days?

  8. Oh hehe Tabs is rocking that head band! And your lashes look so good, Karen!

  9. Natalie says:

Loving your lipstick, seriously so pretty! Today I have on Stila kitten eye shadow, which is one of my all-time faves. So velvety! I also love me some Too Faced Chocolate Soliel bronzer!

  10. Tracy says:

So is Juicy Melons the same lipstick that you wore in that post with the print dress (not the black top)?? Just wondering, it looks a little different, but maybe it was just the lighting!

  11. gio says:

    Love this look, it’s beautiful!

And Tabs looks great with that headband on!

Today was a typical go to daytime look:

Hourglass Immaculate foundation in Light Beige
Laura Mercier Eye Primer in Wheat

    Cheeks:
    Becca Beach Tint in Dragonfruit

    Lips:
    Becca Beach Tint in Dragonfruit
Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss in Imaginaire

    Eyes:
Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in EMERVEILLÉ (only on lash line to crease and inside corner)
Chanel Les Ombres in Demure (brown shade on crease, lower left pink shade on lids, upper right pink shade near brow)
Clinique quickliner in Dark Chocolate (edged in the outer upper lash line, NOT waterline)
    Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum
Diorshow Iconic Waterproof Mascara in black

Usually I use Anastasia Brow Duo Powder. Not enough time to use today.

  15. Kim says:

Dang! Look at those lashes – they’re thisclose to touching your eyebrows. Love it! :)

  16. Heather says:

Hi Karen! I’m still learning makeup stuff, so I *love* these makeup tips from you – thanks! So helpful! Anyhoo – newbie question here: why layer the 2 eyeliners, and how do you do that?

  17. Trina says:

Came across your blog when I was searching for Palladio products. Love your blog, super fun to read and very informative for a newbie make-up junkie like me. Lol. Looking gorgeous as well! Thanks for the make-up tips! :)
