Ugh, gals! It’s like sauna central up in here right now. The glow I’m sporting ain’t the sexy kind. It’s more along the lines of a sweaty beast.
What are up to? Is it hot there?
I think I need to escape my apartment until it cools down… I may go to a movie, at least for the air conditioning. 🙂
Whatever you’re doing tonight, I hope it’s fun!

Sears Getting Back into Cosmetics?
I remember being a kid and loving the heck out of Sears. Why? Because back in the days before Sephora and MAC, Sears meant popcorn, warm nuts and Icees, yum!
Sears may not be the retail powerhouse it was when Reebok high-tops ruled, but they’re hoping to change that with the help of high-margin beauty products. Eight years after getting out of the cosmetics biz, the 115-year-old company is getting back in, hoping that beauty can give their flagging bottom line a boost.
The company plans to open full-service beauty counters at 13 pilot stores in LA, Chicago and New York this week, with hundreds more to open in other Sears locations over the next two years.
The words “beauty” and “Sears” don’t really go together in my mind, but they’ll be carrying big drugstore brands like CoverGirl, L’Oreal and Maybelline, as well as niche brands like Burt’s Bees and Yves Rocher (for which Sears will be the sole US retailer). Who knows, right? Stranger things have happened.
Sears will try to differentiate its beauty business by mixing mass-market prices and displays with department-store service in a mall.
I wonder if they’ll bring back the Icees and warm nuts… 🙂

P.S. According to Sears, grand opening celebrations are being held in each of the pilot Sears Beauty locations on Aug. 29-30 and Sept. 5-6, featuring complimentary makeovers and gift baskets (in case you live near one of the stores).
Other offers include a free cosmetic bag and brush set with any $25 cosmetics, fragrance or bath purchase and a $10 Sears reward card with any $50 cosmetics, fragrance or bath purchase.
THIS Purple Reigns: Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Starry Purple
G’morning, my indigo girls and violet vixens! 🙂
You know what they say — Saturday mornings are made for sparkly purple shadows like Bobbi Brown’s new Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Starry Purple ($22).
I was so entranced by it this morning that I forgot to fill my first cup of joe, and believe you me, it takes something mighty fierce to make me forget my morning caffeine.
Pretty, yah?
It’s one of the eight shimmery cream shadows Bobbi released for fall.
I almost got lost this morning, star gazing into the pan of shimmery deep purple. Thanks to all the glitter — green, red, purple, blue and silver flecks — I think Starry Purple has enough personality to carry off lid looks without the help of other eye products, not that she wouldn’t also complement mascara and maybe even a set of false eyelashes.
I haven’t tested it for durability, yet, but I’ll let you know how it stands up to some daily wear this weekend.
How was your evening last night? Did you do anything fun? Let’s see… We stayed in, ordered pizza and re-watched the governator and badass Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 for the ga-jillionth time.
Speaking of science fiction, is anyone else looking forward to James Cameron’s Avatar? Have you seen the new trailer yet? Some folks on Twitter are saying that they think the special effects look too “shiny,” as in artificial. I don’t know. I like what I’ve seen.
Hope you’re Saturday got off to a faboo start. 🙂 What’s the plan for today?
