Make Up For Ever Glossy Full Couleur Lip Gloss Plus Your Favorite Pair of Earrings Equals Easy Makeup Tip

August 13th, 2009 by Karen 47 Comments

My brain was farting up a storm today. It took me forever to figure out what lip gloss I wanted to wear.

It was like rocket science or trying to build a better mousetrap or something. I dunno…

Finally, out of desperation, I reached for a tube that just so happened to match the earrings I had on (!).

Choosing a lip gloss to wearIf you’re ever at a loss for lip gloss and can’t decide on a color to wear, try a shade that matches a pair of colorful earrings.

In my case the color was Make Up For Ever Glossy Full Couleur Gloss in #3, a creamy coral with a ton o’ shine.

Check out the teeny sample tube (the full-size .33-oz tube costs $19).

Isn’t it cute?

Right now Sephora has a set of three Glossy Full Couleur Glosses on sale for $35 (a $57 value) that comes with full-size tubes in #3 (coral), #1 (cherry) and #4 (fuchsia).

I’m not exactly sure why the matching lip gloss/earrings combo trick works, but I’m guessing that the pops of similar color in such close proximity reinforce the presence of the primary shade — HA! Listen to me sounding like I have any idea what I’m talking about. 🙂

Highlight of your Thursday?

What was yours?

I think mine was the few minutes I spent checking out the new Paul & Joe fall makeup collection (codenamed Collection Sparkles) online.

What do you think of the packaging? The navy blue Siamese kitty lipstick/eyeshadow set is hella calling my name, ME-OW!

Another point, both the earrings and the gloss go nicely with your top! Well played! 🙂

Oh! I was drooling over that collection too! I want all the kitty makeup! It doesn’t hurt that the colors are nice too!

The highlight of my day was ducking into Sephora while back-to-school shopping for the kids and grabbing Frigid! Yay!

Hm, I like the collection with the purple/pink flowers. I like the packaging.

Whenever I have no idea which lip gloss or lipstick to use, I somehow go to the new Wet n’ Wild’s Aura lipglosses now. It starts out clear and changes to your customized pink. It takes a while though (like 10 minutes) but it’s fun. I have both shades (subtle and intense).

Zena is chilling out on the La-Z-Boy. She’s been a crabby terrier today. Very, very crabby. I think she’s having a Diva Day.

      Hi Kate & Zena,

That sounds like fun! It’s been years since I’ve worn a Wet & Wild lipstick. Back in the late 80s/early 90s I remember them having a very distinct smell and taste… are they still scented?

Aww, Zena is just being the warrior princess that she is! Diva Doggy!

I love Paul & Joe packaging. It kinda has this playful dainty-ness to it 🙂

Yeah, wow, good thinking with matching the lip gloss with your earings. It looked like a well-put together outfit. It looks lovely with your skin tone!

Hmm, what was my highlight? Basically, I dread Thursdays because of piano lessons, and I never feel ready for piano. But when my teacher came outside to talk to my dad, she said I’m well past her students that have been taking lessons longer! (I’ve only been playing for 2 years!)

      Hi Nicole,

That’s great! 🙂 Do you enjoy playing? And what of music do you play?

I played classical piano for over 10 years (mostly against my will). I hardly play these days, though. I gotta say it certainly has helped with my typing speed, LOL!

      Hi Marisol,

I have a few of their lippies and glosses and like them. I tried their foundation a long time ago — it’s *very* yellow.

Anyway, how was your day? Are you ready for the weekend?

    Hey Karen,

You might be surprised, but I never bought one of these glosses. I never know what color to get. I just get overwhelmed. That’s why I haven’t even tried their lipstick, either. I have so many mac colors, it’s hard to find a unique one. Plus, I have pigmented lips, so I’m not sure if this would show up on me and I am all about bold lips.

I have been re-visiting some of my old school MAC colors as of late. I’m really loving “O”. Do you have that one?

When I can’t choose a lipgloss, I just randomly draw one from my makeup bag. That way I don’t have to think- and it’s just lip gloss right?

I may try this trick now, thank you!

    Good morning!

I haven’t played yet, but I’m planning a look today using the taupey-brown from the Armani #4 duo on the lid, MAC shadow in either Of Summer or Winter Sky (pretty much the same color but one’s shimmery and one’s satin) at the inner corner and Frigid on the lash line and a little in the crease. Prolly Brulee for the browbone. I think it will be super-pretty! 🙂

    Karen,

The Auras aren’t scented or flavored or I wouldn’t be wearing them all the time (we all know my sensitivity to scent). The ones that tend to be scented are those with names like “cotton candy” or “sparkly orchid” (the orchid one is a sparkly loose white eyeshadow that caused a massive migraine, it got trashed) and I avoid them like the plague. The Aura ones are the only WnW lip glosses I’ve used in a while.
