You guys, you gotta be able to laugh at yourself, because if you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re taking yourself way too seriously, and if you’re taking yourself way too seriously, you’re probably Kanye West, and if you’re Kanye West, you’re driving people (a.k.a. me) absolutely nuts.
Freakin’ Kanye!
Anyway, where was I…?
Oh, yeah, I’m laughing at myself SO HARD RIGHT NOW because I used to be a person who couldn’t go from point A to B without at least three different tubes of concealers on me.
NO MORE.
One of my themes for 2019 (’cause I don’t do resolutions) is to “embrace change” (and not just in my makeup life), and that’s definitely happening here with the Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer by Wander Beauty ($29).
Dualist has a full-coverage matte cream concealer stick on one end and a sheer illuminating liquid concealer on the other, so two products in one sleek, portable stick that’s quite the opposite of the small entourage of under-eye concealing products I used to tote around with me.
Best thing about ’em is that the products on both ends actually do what they’re supposed to do, and they do it well!
What it is:
Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer is an innovative double-sided concealer with a full-coverage matte stick on one end and a lightweight illuminating liquid on the other. What it does:
The matte stick provides maximum coverage for discoloration, blemishes, dark circles, age spots and redness, while the moisturizing illuminating concealer can be used to awaken a dull complexion, brighten the under-eye area (and cheekbones) and diffuse fine lines with a soft and flattering glow. The skin-loving formula is enriched with soothing, nourishing aloe vera extract, collagen to improve firmness/elasticity, and vitamin E to help block free radicals for healthier looking skin. This multitasking, globally-inspired crease-proof formula provides long-lasting, fool-proof coverage that blends effortlessly without feeling heavy. It helps you achieve the right coverage and color correction for great looking skin, and it’s ideal for quick touch-ups on the go. The matte stick and illuminating liquid can be used separately or together for ultimate complexion perfection.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– PhthalatesWhat else you need to know:
Wander Beauty creates multitasking makeup essentials so you can look gorgeous on the go. The brand draws from global inspiration as each formula is enriched with skin-loving ingredients from around the world. “Wander Beauty is color to be carried.”This product is free of mineral oil, fragrance and is gluten-free and cruelty-free.
The cream concealer completely disguises pigmentation spots and freckles on my cheeks, as well as the redness around the base of my nose (I have combo dry-oily skin). The texture’s similar to the Hourglass Vanish Stick foundation, only creamier, and Wander’s version has a more matte finish, so it’s not as dewy. And once it sets, it ain’t going anywhere.
Heck, you could probably even use the stick concealer as a foundation in a pinch if you wanted to!
The liquid illuminating concealer — also fab. Hides moderate dark circles with just a dot or two, and it won’t settle into fine line. If you like MAC Select Moisturecover, you’ll dig it. Keep in mind, though — the illuminating concealer probably won’t be enough if you want full coverage in your under-eye area. If you want to hide everything and the kitchen sink, then I’d recommend using Make Up For Ever HD concealer instead.
I love how this concealer duo looks on top of Wander’s foundation, by the way.

The shade I wear is called Tan, which is yellow enough to match the skin on my cheeks and face, and — shockingly — yellow enough but not too yellow (yes, this is a thing).
I know that that probably won’t be the case for a lot of people, though, because the selection is sooooo not Fenty (a.k.a. there aren’t 50 billion shade options). There are only five shades, but if you’re lucky enough to find one that works for you, you’re in major luck.
For your next TJ’s run
I grabbed a bag of Riced Broccoli at Trader Joe’s last week because I’m trying to sneak more veggies into my system, and it’s surprisingly NOT bullsh*t!
I grew up eating white rice and had it at least once a day from the time I was a kid until I moved out of my parents’ house when I was 18, and so when something looks kinda like rice but isn’t just plain old white rice, I don’t know what to think, LOL. But the TJ’s Broccoli rice is actually very good. It doesn’t taste exactly like white rice (obvi), but I like it. It’s a little chewy, so it doesn’t seem like you’re eating veggie fluff.
To cook it, all you do is warm up some oil or spray a non-stick pan with olive oil spray, then stir fry the broccoli rice until it’s to your taste in done-ness. I usually like to sprinkle something to add flavor on top of it, like Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel seasoning or shaved Parmesan. You can have it in place of rice, or mixed in with your regular rice (I think a 50/50 mix works great).
Look for it by the pre-packed veggies at Trader Joes’s. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I have the Wander concealer in my Sephora cart .
I’m due for a Trader Joe’s trip that riced Broccoli looks really good . I usually get the riced cauliflower to also make cauliflower mashed potatoes!
Good for my Virtua Diet . It’s actually working after being on Weight Watchers and not losing an ounce in one year .
That’s another story for another day .
Karen says
Hi Michele,
Trader Joe’s also makes Cauliflower Mashed potatoes (you can find them in the frozen section), so you don’t have to make them! I haven’t tried it yet (it’s in my freezer), but I’ll let you know if it’s any good.
Barb says
These are suprisingly good and sooo easy to make. Have had them a few times now and I’m liking them.
Karen says
Ooh, can’t wait to try! I also bought the frozen cauliflower rice today!
Jade says
Hmmm I’m always looking for a good concealer. Honestly I bought the Benefit moisture serum one and thought it was too sheer for coverage but I started swiping that then three dots of my Too Faced concealer and that is my new happiness.
Thoughts on UD Naked Reloaded?
Now I want to try that riced broccoli!
Karen says
Hi Jade,
Aww, sorry the Benefit one didn’t work for you. It’s pretty sheer but I do love how it sits on the skin. Anywho, glad you were able to make the Too Faced concealer work for you! You might also want to try mixing it with your eye cream too.
I haven’t seen Reloaded in person, so I can’t really comment on the quality. Looks pretty, but I do have a soft spot for the original Naked. Wish they would’ve kept it instead of phasing it out.

Oooh this sounds convenient! Looks great!
Karen says
It’s SO handy. Why don’t all brands put two things on their stick products?!
Chelsea says
At Ulta I buy this little two ended mascara from Clinique where one side is the primer and the other side is their High Impact Mascara. It’s one of the only brands whose mascara doesn’t irritate me, the primer really makes it stay on my lashes better, and I love the small size because I can replace it more often. Plus it’s like 8 bucks. It’s so convenient.
Karen says
That sounds so perfect! I’m making an Ulta run to grab some things for the cream series so I’ll try to find it. THANK YOU!
Erica says
Wow, I love the idea of this concealer! Too bad I’m not in the market right now for a new one ?. I’m really having a love affair with Trader Joe’s recently! Been trying a lot of their frozen greek dishes and wow, are they amazing! The broccoli rice sounds delish, maybe I’ll try it soon.
Karen says
Hi Erica,
It’s good! You do have to dress it up though, otherwise it can taste quite bland. Do you have their Everything But the Bagel seasoning? It’s super good with that!
Ruchita says
I am need of a good concealer! This has been a rough week getting back to work and my sleep schedule got messed up from the holidays. Yellow based concealers work well for me, so I will have to give this one a try.
With Indian food I grew up eating a lot of white rice too. It’s like comfort food for me! Thanks for the recommendation about the broccoli. I like the idea of dressing it with some seasoning.
Hope you had a good Christmas! It was a bit more work than I expected with hosting people, but I had enough time off after the holiday to recover. 🙂 Unfortunately my parent’s weren’t able to make it, but I was able to see them later in the week.
Happy Friday!
Karen says
Hi Ruchita,
You’re welcome! You can also mix the broccoli in with your regular rice along with any other veggies. I did that last night with shredded carrots and rice and it was super good.
I hope your mom brought you some yummy food to eat when your parents stopped by. Moms food is the best!
Ruchita says
Oh that’s a good idea to mix some regular rice and veggies! My mom did end up making some biriyani and bringing it over, which was nice. There is something special about Mom’s home cooking! Hope you have a relaxing Friday evening!
Karen says
I did that tonight and it was pretty good. Added powdered garlic and onion and a then a hit of lemon pepper! You really have to spice it up otherwise it’s depressing and bland. lol
Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever had homemade biriyani!
Linda Libra Loca says
I really can´t get on board with the veggie rice thing. I don´t eat much rice, but when I do I want it to be the real deal.
Karen says
Ha! It’s good though.
Michelle says
Do you use a setting powder after?
Karen says
Hi Michelle,
Depends on what look I’m going for, but generally I just leave it as it and I’m fine. It looks good with powder too though!
Jennifer Emmett says
Sooo your post intrigued me, this looked perfect for spot concealing and to take to the gym for post workout makeup before work. It arrived last night and I’m sooooo enjoying it today! The formulas, the shade, the packaging…. score!!!
Karen says
Hi Jennifer,
I’m so happy that you love this duo as much as I do! Have you tried their foundation yet? It’s excellent!
