Filed under “Weird Things I Could Do in Less Than 5 Minutes if I Absolutely Had To”? 25 Spartan Race-style burpees, immediately followed by putting on minimal makeup.
Fore sure, I’d use mascara, a gloss and these new products from Wander Beauty.
(Side note: This occurred to me in HIIT class as I sprinted around a parking lot carrying a 15-pound medicine ball. Amazing the things you think about when you’re out of breath and about to toss your cookies.)
Trip For Two Blush and Bronzer Duo ($36 and available in two shades)
Some bronzer/blush duos are so saturated that you can easily end up looking like you’ve got Duran Duran stripes on your cheeks, but these matte duos have purposefully pared down pigment for the quickest blending you’ll ever experience. I like to start by buffing the blush on the apples of my cheeks, then blending it out with the bronzer for a fast, natural-looking cheek flush.
Hidden Glow Brightening Cream ($40)
It looks dangerously shimmery when you first pump it out, but once you start blending it in, all you’ll see is the most subtle and radiant golden glow without a speck of glitter in sight. It’s basically like a golden version of MAC’s magical Natural Radiance Illuminating Primer.
I’m a dewy-all-over kinda gal, so when I use this I’ll work half a pump all over my face after sunscreen, and then I’ll skip foundation, concealer and powder. It’s all you need for dewy, glowing skin.
Trip for Two Blush and Bronzer Brush ($34)
Both the blush brush and the angled bronzer brush have soft, synthetic bristles and brush heads that are a bit smaller than usual, which I like in this case because it makes them so precise.
Overall, there’s a lot I like about these Wander Beauty products, and if you’re interested, you can find them online and at Sephora right meow.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
First off, I love me some Duran Duran! They were my jam and still are 🙂
Secondly, those bronzer/blush duo are gorgeous! My birthday is Friday and maybe if I get any Sephora gift cards, I’ll check them out!
Have a great day, Karen!
My fave Duran Duran songs (no particular order)
The Reflex
Hungry Like the Wolf
Rio
Ordinary World
I just found out their biggest hit was View to a Kill! #funfacts
How about you, Barb?
I love, love, love all of their songs. I especially love their early stuff – Girls on Film, Careless Memories, Planet Earth. Also from their Wedding Album, there is a song on there that was not a radio hit but it’s one of my all time favorites. It’s called Breath After Breath. I just love the melody and beat of it. You can find it on Youtube. Let me know what you think.
Never tried anything from Wander Beauty. Guess I need to check them out.
Dear Daughter loves to do Spartan Races. She’s aiming to complete their trifecta this year. She’s been begging me to try her crossfit gym. Sigh.
The girls in my HIIT class keep trying to recruit me to do one with them because they do Spartans like every five seconds. Everyone’s just so damn fit. LOL! My excuse for all these years has been that I don’t like getting muddy, but now there’s one coming up in Oakland (I think? Might be in SF!) in a stadium with NO MUD.
I’ve never done crossfit, either! Apparently it’s fun?
The stadium spartans are the shortest and my daughter claims the easiest. But I don’t know about running up and down stadium stairs with sandbags or buckets. Killer if you ask me. There’s also the Sprints which are supposed to be shorter. My daughter says to try and get the earliest “open” start time you can get because the course gets muddier and slipperier as the day goes on. She also wears gloves for grip. There’s a a gym down this way called Kings Camp that has the same obstacles so you can practice them before the race.
I wish I had a young body again. My daughter did 100 burpees in 7 min. Sigh.
Would love to see a picture of that brightening cream on your face…maybe do a comparison with Mac strobe cream and Becca Backlight Primer.
