Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer: Available Now in the UD Permanent Line

Get ready to go matte all night (or, in my case, all day!) long with Urban Decay’s new All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer.

Don’t go chasing waterfalls… That’s what I’m telling you, but if you’re going to do it anyway (despite TLC’s multiple warnings!), know that you can stand underneath one wearing Urban Decay’s new concealer, and your makeup would emerge completely intact.

It’s waterproof to the extreme, so keep your fave oil-based makeup remover handy, because you’ll need it to take this concealer off your face.

14 shades, $29 each, extremely waterproof!

Extremely matte, extremely waterproof

A new addition to the UD permanent fam, All Nighter is a long-wearing, high-coverage liquid concealer available in 14 shades ($29 each).

They have a… I want to call it an ultra-matte finish, because they’re SO matte that they don’t reflect any light whatsoever on the skin, which makes them easier for me, as a woman in my 40s, to wear on my cheeks, nose, mouth, chin and forehead, but not so easy to wear under my eyes.

For some reason, matte concealers, especially the flat mattes like these, age me. I dunno, but I swear they make my fine lines look more obvious (whereas dewy/reflective concealers like Make Up For Ever’s HD and MAC Matchmaster make my under-eye area look plumper and more youthful).

I’m wearing a mix of Medium Light Warm and Medium Dark Warm under my eyes in the after pic. On the rest of my face, I’m wearing Medium Dark Warm as a foundation — no powder. Just the concealer.

Awesome for everywhere except under my eyes

If you’re 30+, I wouldn’t recommend All Nighter as an under-eye concealer, but it’s boss for everything else on your face because it covers up everything (it’s also way more pigmented than UD’s Naked Skin concealer).

It hides freckles, discoloration, redness… All Nighter handles it all, and it’ll do it all night long, even if you go for an impromptu swim at midnight (it happens). It’s waterproof and long lasting.

Also in the new Urban Decay All Nighter line…

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation

Feels like NARS Pure Radiant

The texture is similar to NARS Pure Radiant Concealer. It has that same creamy, gliding fluffiness, so it’s super easy to blend.

I prefer to use my fingers to apply it because I think it’s easier to control that way and sticks better to the skin.

Works in place of foundation

You can pair this with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Foundation, but I think you can also easily get away with using the concealer on its own to even out your skin tone. I use just a few drops — seriously, it’s so concentrated that you won’t need more than three or four small dots for a small area, like a cheek or around your mouth — blend it with my fingers (work quickly because it dries fast!), and I usually skip powder, because I don’t think it needs it. This covers pretty much everything on its own.

Who’s it for?

I think this would be great for someone looking for a long-wearing, flat matte finish concealer to wear anywhere on their face except beneath their eyes.

I mean…you can wear it under your eyes, but I’d recommend cutting it with a drop or two of face oil to take down the matte-ness a bit if you do.

I also like this if you live anyplace with weather extremes, like someplace hot and humid like Hawaii, or someplace that gets lots of snow or rain. Or, if you just want super polished skin with a matte finish…this could work for you, too.

It’s available now in the permanent line at Ulta, Sephora and the UD website.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I totally hear you on the matte concealers! Yes, also over 40 over here and matte just isn’t a very flattering look on my old skin lol! Now a pimple we want shine free covered up, of course! Haha! ?

Yes! I also want to cover up those post-pimple marks/discolorations. They hang around forever, it seems.

Have a nice day, Sissi! What are you up to? I’m going to the grocery to pick up the pre-made T-day meal I ordered, and then to Target to get some tupperware some our guests can take home leftovers.

I’m 21 and even I wouldn’t wear this under my eyes! But to be fair, I have begun wrinkling a bit “prematurely” compared to my peers. I would be interested in this for blemishes though because it looks like this isn’t going ANYWHERE once it’s on! I’ll have to check it out if/when it goes to Sephora stores. I have their Naked Skin concealer but I don’t often use it. It’s nice, just pretty heavy-duty already, so I can only imagine what this one is like.

      Hi Katie,

In the PR it said that this new one is, like, 73% more pigmented than Naked Skin. How they got that number I have no idea, LOL! But it is very much a high-coverage concealer, so yes, it will definitely cover up blemishes.

I agree with you about not using matte concealer under the eye area. I have UD naked concealer that I love for under they eyes because it has a slight sheen/reflective quality to it. I use Makeup Forever concealer in other areas where I want a matte finish. It’s a little annoying to have to use 2 kinds!

      Hi Rachel,

I like that UD concealer too for the under eye area, but on me it moves sometimes (depends on the eye cream I have on). Do you use primer underneath it? Set it with a powder?

      Happy Wednesday!

I always set with powder. It’s not the longest lasting but it looks the best.

Yeah, I figured. Whenever I wear it I have to lock it down with something, anything. You might want to try Make Up For Ever’s HD one of these days. It has a similar look to it but lasts longer, I find.

Hi Karen, thanks for your great review and swatches. I was considering the MUFE HD for under eyes. How does this compare to MUFE Full Cover concealer for the rest of the face, like blemishes etc? Is it drying as the day goes on?

I rely on my BB corrector under my eyes anyway, but this one needs to get on my face to cover my spots and scars. Should I go chasing waterfalls, but as you said, TLC warned against it…

This looks right up my alley. I have been using concealer a lot in lieu of foundation and it’s been working out. Those shades don’t look like a match for my skin tone though. I’m actually really surprised there are only two dark shades, with all of the competitive inclusiveness going on in the beauty industry right now. Ah well.

I remember UD having a matching foundation to these and me being very excited about it. Have you tried those?

      Hi Indya,

I was surprised to see that, too. Granted the beauty industry has come a long way since the only concealer options were light, medium-light and medium. I’m guessing that maybe they’re waiting to see if people like the line, and then they’ll add new shades. They’ve done it in the past.

Hope you’re having a nice day so far. One more day ’til turkey!

Oh, gosh, I feel like any concealer makes my fine lines look like the Grand Canyon. I can’t imagine what this matte version would do. 🙂 To be honest, I think I’m just terrible with concealer. I only recently learned from you that it’s not to be worn under foundation/BB cream. It seems obvious now.

    PS Happy Thanksgiving!!!

You crack me up, Kim! Do you have a face oil that you like around? You can always try mixing a little bit in with your concealer to thin it out a little. Set it with a tiny bit of powder afterwards, but do it immediately because timing is key.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

This’ll be a pass for me! I need a new undereye concealer for when I wear tinted sunscreen (which is a bit darker than my skintone, but translucent), but matte undereyes are bad on me. Not necessarily aging, but I have easily dried skin. I’ll probably just repurchase Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
