Look Perfect Naked With Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector

April 11th, 2016 by Jessica Revitte 35 Comments

Urban Decay One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfectors (SPF 20)
Urban Decay One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfectors (SPF 20)

In the summer I’m all about light, dewy coverage.

I know, I know, I work in an office…but when I’m not stuck sitting at my desk, and I’m out somewhere actually having fun in the sun ☀ and the warm weather, it’s nice to not feel weighed down by a heavy base product, and even though I’m a fair-skinned SPF freak, it’s always a relief knowing that my foundation, BB cream or tinted moisturizer are also there to add a little extra oomph where sun protection is concerned.

Urban Decay recently released the most beach bag-friendly base product a girl could want, an oil-free formulation with SPF20 that’s meant to even out your overall complexion and blur imperfections while keeping you looking natural and fresh, and it’s called Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector (I dare you to say that one five times fast!).

Available in 6 shades for $34 each, it’s ideal for speedy makeup application or touch-ups on the go after a day at the beach or an afternoon by the pool.

UD’s official description says it all…

“We’re not exactly what you call low-maintenance when it comes to beauty (and we’re not ashamed to admit it). But we’re more than happy to take a shortcut or two — as long as it doesn’t look like we did. THIS is one of those times. Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector combines all the benefits of skin treatment and protection with the coverage of a sheer foundation. This multitasking cream is the best of both worlds”

One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector is ideal for your beach bag (or summer getaway overnight tote) because it has the most perfect packaging, and it’s oh, so easy to apply.

Urban Decay went above and beyond with the foundation-style pump that dispenses the perfect amount of product, so as not to be wasteful. Two or three pumps perfectly covers my face without the mess of a traditional tube.

On top of having brilliant packaging, these apply just as well with clean fingers as they do with a brush, making them ideal for when you’re headed someplace in a hurry and looking to bring along the bare minimum number of products.

Snazzy summery packaging!

Unfortunately, tinted moisturizers and BB creams often are “one size fits all” in terms of available colors and come in just two or three shades. Well, Urban Decay’s shade selection for the One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfectors is quite generous. Ranging from fair and cool-toned to deep, warmer shades, the six available colors cover a comfortable selection that should suit most complexions. Yaaas!

In terms of formula, the claims are true! This is among the better “perfecting” base products I’ve ever used. The emollient formula blends easily and provides ample time to apply, drying down to a demi matte finish that’s not too matte. Urban Decay’s formula contains “light diffusing spheres” (I’d like to know what these look like under a microscope), which even out and illuminate the skin. Packed with beneficial and nutrient rich ingredients, including extracts from the “wu zhu yu” plant (fancy!), it makes my skin feel better after I remove it in the evening than it did before I applied it that morning.

I’ve been favoring Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector in Light — even though it’s far from summer where I live — and I can’t believe how many compliments I’ve gotten on my skin. If I love the look and feel of a product, and I get compliments, I tend to think that my base has passed the test.

Five stars ★★★★★ for these perfectors, and for the fact that they mean I can keep making racy puns with the word “Naked” in them because of the name (I can’t resist).

Have you tried Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector or found another amazing summer base product this year? Do tell.

I ordered the light one after spending a lot of time choosing between it and medium light. Now i’m wondering if it’s going to be too yellow.

Let me know how it works for you. I was a little nervous about the same when I swatched but I find that they blend out fairly well and I didn’t have trouble making a match to my neutral toned skin.

I tried the Light and it was too dark/yellow for my skin (I wear MUFE Ultra HD in R220 usually). It also made me break out, which I assume is from the sunscreen.

It’s really a shame, because it looked great otherwise—definitely has a “perfecting” effect.

Thanks for the heads up! I’m very slightly darker but still need something pinker rather than very yellow. I was really interested till I saw the swatches, really nothing there for us cool toned gals.
      Such a shame.

I would say yes if you like pretty substantial coverage. This feels like a BB or CC cream to me, so it stands alone just fine as well.

Looks like yellow would be good because most of the complexion products are not enough yellow for my skin.

I feel like I’m the only one, but I just did not like this at all. It clung to every dry patch on my face and made my skin look dull. I’ll stick with my HG Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.

Completely agree with you. I use NARS Matte Velvet and it the holy grail. UD broke my skin out.

I’ve been hearing really good stuff about this product. I hope they expand the shade range, as “light” looks AT LEAST 5 shades too dark for me, and definitely too yellow.

Light definitely looks too dark for me, unfortunately, and it’s got chemical sunscreen so I’d be peeling like a banana, but I’m glad it works for you! It seems like it’d be a really good product for the summer.

Sunscreen can be SO touchy which is such a shame. I’ve had reactions to SPF products myself so I know how it goes.

I’m still trying to formulate my opinion about mine. I have acne so it’s probs not the best for me, but I love the finish – it’s just that I don’t see too much improvement on my non-blemished bits o’ skin. Maybe I’m being a Negative Nancy.

I love the UD Naked Skin original because it is one of the very few brands that has a light enough color to match my skin. I hope that if this becomes really popular they will expand to include more colors and undertones. I’ve been so impressed with the original that I’m keeping my fingers crossed UD will do something similar with this since it has SPF, which the original does not.

I haven’t bought a new base product in a while but I miiiight have to get this. The thing I hate the most about wearing base products in summer is the heavy feeling.

The only problem is that I can only order online and therefore won’t be able to swatch the different shades… I’m hesitating between Medium Light and Medium… What do you think? Just posted a new close-up of mah mug on the blog today if you want to see my skintone… Thanks!
