Two Coats of Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara: Before and After

June 19th, 2019 by Karen 12 Comments

EXCLAMATION MARK!

The name of this new $25 mascara seems like a missed opportunity…because if you’re going the cheeky/sassy route, why not go all the way? Just go ahead and call it “DAAAYUM GURL!” rather than “Damn Girl!” However, I do appreciate the Too Faced corporate commitment to proper usage of the English language. 🙂

Damn Girl is the brand’s latest foray into Lash Land, and the brand says it’s for the person who wants extra everything — extra length, extra volume, extra black pigment for that extra va-va-voom.

Take note of the infinity-shaped brush, which they built to load and lengthen lashes to extra levels. The short bristles deposit the fancy whipped formula, while the longer bristles comb it through.

Using the wand is a little awkward at first (give me a traditional fine-tipped brush for detailing the outer corners any day of the week), but it’s still possible to stretch those inner- and outer-lashes with the curved end, assuming I hold my wrist at odd angles…

Hourglass shape

Two layers looks similar to Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and L’Oreal Lash Paradise, so there’s a noticeable difference in volume and length, which is a plus…but I won’t be pledging my undying devotion to Damn Girl because my outer corner lashes begin to droop after a couple hours when I wear it, and I see smears along my lower lash line by day’s end.

Bottom line: It’s a functional mascara for volume and length, IMO. Not so much for curl hold.

Thanks for testing this! I was interested in trying this, but then I saw how big the brush was at Ulta, so I think I’ll pass. Giant mascara wands always create a mess for me!

You’re so welcome. I do like how big brushes get so much product on the lashes so quickly, but dang… so messy!

      Hi Melissa!

Nice to meet you too. You’ll have to let me know if you like the cake mascara! Sounds like it could be fun. (And potentially messy.)

I hate these brushes!!! I’ve used “Damn, Girl” a few times (deluxe sample from Soehora), both by itself and layered with other mascaras and I’m just not in love. It always creeps under my eyes, even though I don’t use it on my bottom lashes. It also makes my eyelashes fall. I am just not a fan. It looks great at first, but I definitely won’t be purchasing!

I’ve tried layering it too and haven’t had much luck, either. What mascaras do you like for curl hold?

Aww man that’s so disappointing but I had an inkling during one of those promo type videos Mr. Blandino put up on his IG that the formula might be the issue here. I have the same type of lashes and anything that’s considered “mousse-y” never works well for me for the same reasons- smearing, transfer, and no curl hold on my sad little wispies 🙁

      Hi Olivia,

Sounds like we’re in the same lash boat. What are your fave/go-to mascaras?

Hello beautiful- for me, huge fan of NARS Climax or Benefit Rollerlash for lighter, feathery days. For giant eyelashes, I go for L’Or Lash Paradise the primer + mascara on top, Stila Huge Extreme, and of course Better Than Sex. All of them need a little curl mid-day unfortunately because my lashes can’t take that kind of weight, but hey, no transfer ma!! I’ve done all sorts of wacky things over the years to keep my curl too… lots of curling mid-day, lash lifts, and now on my first set of eyelash extensions (don’t recommend!!). I always go back to testing new mascaras and a good ol’ fashioned curl though!

Thanks for this post! I’m always down to try out a new mascara, and I’ve heard pretty good things about this one. I liked Better Than Sex a lot years ago when I first tried it. I’m a fan of any mascara that can give me volume & length!

You’re welcome! If you have a lot of natural curl you may have better luck than I did.

Better Than Sex did the same thing on me – way too wet and brought everything down. My current favorite is L’Oreal Lash Paradise (waterproof).

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick.
