10 Reasons to Love Tom Ford Beauty

1. The limited edition collections…

Whenever one of Tom’s limited edition color collections drops, I’m reminded of my recurring need for a dedicated makeup fainting couch (Note to self: invent that).

Like this morning, when I laid eyes on the new spring 2015 collection in all its purple, teal and blue glory.

The duos, the nail polishes and that cray-cray mascara? BANANAS. b-a-n-a-n-a-s

2. Eye Defining Pen in Deeper

Tom Ford Defining Pen in Deeper

It’s $55, and yes, that’s crazy expensive, but Tom’s Eye Defining Pen in Deeper is also outrageously good.

When that mysterious billionaire benefactor I’ve been waiting for since my freshman year eventually knocks on my door and says, “Karen! Let me fund your beauty-loving lifestyle!” I’m going to stockpile hundreds of these pens and keep them in a special climate-controlled underground makeup lair.

3. The Brow Sculptor

It’s so good I want to cry. 🙁 I have literally — LITERALLY — worn several of these down to the nub.

4. Nail Lacquer in African Violet

African Violet is THE purple polish I wear whenever I need to bring my A game. It’s like my comic book super serum, and it looks magnificent on toes (especially when they’re submerged in a five-star resort’s swimming pool).

5. Cognac Sable Eye Quad

Otherwise known as “Warm Coppery Bronze Shangri-la…”

I love this pic of Sable because it was taken when my quad was fresh and new, le sigh…

Now it looks busted, like a much-loved teddy bear. 🙂

Whenever my neurons aren’t firing well and I can’t string two sentences together, I pull out Cognac Sable.

6. The complexity of the scents

Tom Ford plays fragrance notes like a concert pianist. If you like scents that go far beyond simply sweet fruity florals, do your nose a favor and take it to a Tom Ford counter.

7. The unabashedly sexy and fabulous makeup looks…

Tom Ford Lips & Boys
Tom Ford Lips & Boys (that contour, OMG!)

Sometimes the fearless, brazen looks in the brand’s advertising make me want to don a silk jumpsuit, platform heels, smokey eyes, glazed cherry lips and drive to the post office on a Thursday afternoon.

Why? I have no idea. Just because.

8. Cream Color for Eyes

Tom Ford Beauty Escapade Cream Color for Eyes

It took me a while to fully appreciate these Cream Colors, but now I’m utterly committed. Great for glossy lids, these lightweight mousse cream eyeshadows last so freaking long it’s ridiculous, and they can also be used as bases for powder eyeshadows.

Whenever new limited edition colors appear, don’t hesitate to grab one.

Wunderbar. They’re so wonderful I had to say it in German.

This one here, Escape, is my favorite.

9. Sable Smoke

OK, it’s not the most dazzling Tom Ford lip color, but it’s the one I wear most. Sable Smoke is one of the smoothest, easiest nude lipsticks I’ve ever used, and my tube is almost always within a few feet of me.

10. The Unabashed Eye & Cheek Compact

Unabashed was a limited edition release last year, and it still makes my heart do weird things.

THAT BLUE THO!

I swear, half the awesome makeup that I have is because of you 🙂 Now I really, really want anything Tom Ford! His makeup is pricey, though. With his stuff and Hourglass, I have to figure out what I REALLY want. You look awesome in all the pics!

I have so Mich trouble with nude lips! My lips are naturally plummy, so I need to neutralize them to try. I don’t own any Tom Ford, but I want to!

Reasons one and two. That editorial print add with the green mascara and teal and purple and blue. *le sigh* So friggin’ artistic. I follow a girl on the tube who swears by that eyeliner. It’d take a lot of my Girl Scout cookie budget to save up for one of those 🙂

That African Violet nail polish is very pretty! And the finish is so glossy and smooth. I’m guessing that you didn’t have any problems applying it, with that price tag. It looks more luxurious than Chanel nail polishes. But I must resist the temptation. Lol!

It takes a little will power, but I can pass up on quite a few things. But not Tom Ford. I swear I have to have every limited edition he puts out. I wish I hadn’t missed out on some of the earlier cream colors, Escapade in particular. I had to get a bottle of African Violet this past week after seeing it on your nails so many times.
I’ve looked every where, but can’t seem to find the Spring 2015 online yet. With the rain this weekend, I doubt I’ll be driving to The City.

Seriously Karen! Every time you show us a little Tom Ford my wallet cries because I always end up going straight to the website to nab some of his goodies! And now I’m on my way to check out the spring collection. That blue shadow in the unabashed makes me hate myself now for not getting it 🙁

My heart flutters just looking at the TF packaging. Forget about seeing what’s inside! I’ve only tried the volumizing mascara but I really need that brow pencil. 🙂 It’s only a matter of time with the lipsticks, too.

Oh Karen!!! It’s not good for me to see TF… makes me wanna get them like RIGHT NOW! I probably will try the lipstick. Just concerned that if Sable Smoke will be too pale for me?? Or do you have other colors to recommend? I’m NC35.
    Thanks!!!
btw, the liner is super expensive. Does it dry out in the tube??

      Hi Gloria,

You could totally do Sable Smoke. I’m NC42 and it works for me — should be OK for NC35, too.

The liner… I’ve had mine for ages and it doesn’t dry out! I just used it yesterday and it was perfect. 🙂

Let me know if you have any other questions!

This post is way too harmful for my eyes 😀 I have so resisted the Eye and Cheek Compact in Pink Glow from the 2015 Soleil collection but don’t know for how long I can succeed…just look at that Cognac Sable eye quad and those lippies…sigh! Must possess! You have created an excellent look too…gorgeous! BTW Karen, where did you get that bracelet you are wearing in the #4 nail lacquer pic? I think I saw you wear it in another [post too and wanted to ask…it is super duper gorgeous!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
