IMPORTANT (not really, but you know what I mean): There’s a Sephora VIB sale in November, so this week I’m highlighting some of my favorite makeup workhorses that I think are worthy of your wish list.
If you have stick-straight, skinny lashes like mine, you’ll totally understand the magic behind this product. Like the fabulous feline and the feisty toddler who boss me around, my lashes do not listen to me… Every morning, I go through the same routine. I crimp my lashes with my curler and say a prayer to the beauty goddesses. “Please, please hold this curl!”
Then, my lashes straighten out.
I spent decades looking for a mascara that would hold a curl while boosting my roots so my lashes could soar high up to the heavens above — and yes, I wanted these things without having to deal with a trail of flakes on my cheeks or blackened smears smudging my lower lash line.
Well, love, this is it. ?
I’ve mentioned Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara a few times before, but I haven’t given it the love it deserves.
It’s been around for-everrrrrr, and I always return to it because it hoists every last lash (even the ones on the outer corner, which are the droopiest of the droopy ones for me), and then stretches them out so the tips extend way beyond their natural length.
Plus, the volume? Dialed up! Like YSL Faux Cils, but a tinge less intense at the roots.
Lights Camera Lashes never clumps, is blacker than black, and the bushy brush combs ensures that no lash is left behind. It’s a solid all-rounder and a must for anyone searching for a mascara that does everything — lifting, lengthening, separation, curling and volume. A 0.24-oz. wand is usually $23, but with the 20% VIB discount you can grab it for $18.40. The 15% Beauty Insider discount knocks it down to $19.55.

Thank you for the reminder! I have seen it so many times, but there is always a shiny and new release that gets me distracted. My lashes aren’t that straight, but if I go through the process of curling them, I want that to last!

You’re welcome, happy Friday!

YAAASSS! That’s just the treat I was looking for to reward myself for surviving a difficult week at work. The bigwigs are in town….. ‘Nuff said. I don’t need another mascara, but I like Tarte the line and great curl hold is always treasured.

Hi Krystal,
Congratulations on making it through the week! This one was a long one for me too. Tell me all about your Tarte favorites… I’d love to hear what your go-tos are!

Speaking of mascara, I got a sample of YSL the Shock and I like it. It reminds me more of Hypnose than Faux Cils because it’s a bit wetter out of the tube and the thickening is not quite as good as FC. The length is probably a bit better, for folks who are into that. It’s also hard to work with the mini wands in the sample sizes (for me) so maybe the full size would give slightly different results.

I tried that one a while back and thought it was OK, but preferred Faux Cils over it. Agree with you on the mini wands… They seem to pick up product differently, too, I’ve noticed!

I use the waterproof version of this, Lights, Camera, Splashes. It’s the only mascara that doesn’t transfer on me. Seconded!

Hi Rebecca,
I have a friend who swears by the waterproof version. I’m going to have to pick that up at the sale too!
