Where’ve You Verbena All My Life, Laura Mercier Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture?

May 28th, 2014 by Karen 16 Comments

It’s hard to let go of your fears…

Like, for me, the fear of smelling like a cleaning spray, or the clinical term, scentofcleaningspray-a-phobia.

It started innocently enough. One day long ago I was wearing a scent — can’t remember which one it was now — but it had strong notes of verbena.

Doop-da-doo, someone leaned in for a hug but pulled away immediately, as if repelled, and said, “You smell exactly like Pledge.”

It left scars, man.

Scars.

Needless to say, I was a little skeptical at first about Laura Mercier’s new Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture, but I figured, it’s Laura, and I’ve pretty much loved all of her scented body products, so I banked on this one working out, too.

And it did! 🙂 No eau de scrubbing bubbles.

“Inspired by the countryside of Provence, Laura captures the crisp freshness of Verbena to invigorate the senses. A sparkling bouquet of green citrus and leafy spearmint infuse beautifully with petals of fresh blossoms and a touch of white amber and cedar wood. Leaving behind a refreshing sensation that rejuvenates the body.”

With the mercury rising here in Northern Marin, I’ve been digging the creamy gel-like texture, which feels almost like a light mousse. It quickly absorbs into my skin and doesn’t leave the backs of my knees feeling sticky, which is a major moisturizer turnoff.

A little goes a long way, too, and as for the scent, I find it light and refreshing.

I mean, I can tell it’s there, but it’s not like it’s setting up camp in my nostrils or anything.

Long story short, Laura’s Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture is a lovely summer indulgence. 🙂

Fingers crossed that Laura releases more body products with the same gel-creme formula.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Isododecane, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Acrylate/ Sodium, Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Glycerin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Isohexadecane, Ethylhexylglycerin, Polysorbate 80, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Verbena Officinalis Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Citral, Geraniol, Lilial, Limonene, Linalool. Ingredients are subject to change at the manufacturer’s discretion. For the most complete and up-to-date information, refer to the product packaging.

Verbena Infusion Gel Body Moisture ($45 for a big 8-ounce jar) is available now with the rest of the new Verbena Infusion body care line at Laura Mercier counters and online.

Pie for breakfast!

I highly recommend it, particularly cold pie fresh out of the fridge with a hot cup of coffee.

That’s a magical combination right there! I had a slice of that leftover peach pie I got at the Petaluma Pie Company this morning, and it really hit the spot, and why wouldn’t it? Girl cannot live on oatmeal and wheat toast alone. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Divya,

They’re by Tory Burch. I just picked them up last week (on sale, yay!).

Pie for breakfast? Yes, please. 😀

I really like the smell of lemon verbena–especially in candles. But I could totally see how it’d smell like pledge if done wrong. No thanks for that.

What flavor of pie would you like, Trisha? I’ll have peach or apple. 🙂 That way I can say I ate a little fruit for breakfast, haha!

Mmm… I’ve had cake for breakfast. I’ll have to try pie.

Yeah, I’ve tried verbena scented which have smelled like cleaning products but others which smelled great. I guess depends on the brand and the blend of other notes in it.

It’s about time someone made gel moisturizer for the body. I’ve been using Clinique’s gel on my body because I love how quickly it absorbs, although that means I run out of face lotion faster. I’m funny about fragrances too. More often than not, they offend my nostrils. I haven’t come across a Laura Mercier product I didn’t like, however.

      Hi Mahdi,

Me too. Laura always does great scents! Do you have a favorite? Her Eau de Lune Perfume is my all-time fave.

I’ll have to try using that Clinique gel sometime on my legs. Thanks for the tip!

I really wanted to love the Crème de Pistache body wash but it was way too sweet. I like Verbena so I might have to check this out. I love a good gel moisturizer since it tends not to stick around on the skin too long. My cousin lives in Petaluma and when my husband and I moved out there a few years ago we couldn’t get enough of LA Azteca Taqueria. Although those pies look amazing too!

      Hi Tracy,

I just yelped it and the food looks good! Do you remember what you liked on the menu?

I think it’s called Enchilada Azteca. It’s enchiladas with both “red and green” sauce. Super Yummy!

Pie for breakfast? Sounds wonderful. Those little pies wouldn’t have made it all the way home for me. I must try that pie shop the next time Im in town– as well as other suggestions. (recommendations from the locals are THE best!)

I love the LM lemon verbena gel cream too! Im tempted to purchase the body cleanse with the same scent but I feel guilty because those LV products were discounted on the Nordie website they were brand new. I didn’t think I needed it then! The scent reminds me of Clementine body wash LM discontinued years ago. It is calming, yet energizing! I also like LM pistachio and tarte Lemon, but not the coconut almond.

    PIE! 😀

Moisturising gels must always take a backseat to biscuits, pie or glitter. Not necessarily in that order 😉

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
