This month I am CRAZY ABOUT CREAMS. Stay tuned for some of my favorite cream makeup products all throughout January.
First of all, I’m shocked I haven’t already tried this Revelon palette, since I’m such a fan of their individual cream shadows in the pots (Chocolate or Espresso, anyone?!). I have to thank the trauma of my last visit to the dentist for this spur-of-the-moment retail therapy purchase!
Illuminance Creme Shadow in Not Just Nudes ($7.99) comes in a slim, trim plastic package with a mirror on one side and four neutral cream shadows on the other. It’s a lineup of coordinating colors with a glossy finish to illuminate yo’ lids.

You know that high fashion/editorial glossy lid look? This does that, but without the thickness, heaviness or major creasing (I do see some minor creasing after a few hours, but not a lot).
One thing though: these are sheer, so Not Just Nudes is NOT what you’d grab when you’re craving intense pigment or when you want to sculpt a cut crease sharp enough to slice day-old French bread. The look is soft, shiny and true to its name — “Illuminating.”
More deets…
- Lasts about 4 hours on bare lids before I start to see creasing.
- Doesn’t settle into fine lines.
- Stays creamy for about 5 minutes before slightly drying down, so you have time to blend.
- Layers well.
- Not Just Nudes is one of six combos available.
This is the kind of glowing lid look that really werks with a bright lip and lots of mascara. You know when you need something to perk ya right up? The Not Just Nudes palette will do the trick.

I got mine at Ulta, but you can find it wherever Revlon is sold.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Anyone else get sucked into watching the Fyre Festival docs on Hulu and Netflix? Everyone seemed to be talking about them, so I watched the Netflix one yesterday, and now I wanna know this: How did Ja Rule not also go to jail?? He must have known about some of the shady stuff that went down!
I didn’t know that Revlon still made this! This was one of the first eyeshadow palettes that I ever used back when I was first getting into makeup (over 10 years ago). Since I was young, the lack of serious pigmentation was perfect because it would keep me from accidentally over-applying.
Hi Ali,
Yes! They have a number of palettes, including another nude one which is slightly lighter and more peachy than this one. 🙂 You’re right, this would be a great beginner palette for a makeup newbie.
Yes I watched the Netflix Fyre festival documentary yesterday too! So interesting! I remember seeing advertisements for Fyre Festival and I just thought “those aren’t even good bands!”
Hi Rachel,
The lineup was super random. You’d think that music would be the main motivator, but apparently it wasn’t, LOL!
I started the Hulu one this morning and it’s not as good as the Netflix one (it’s way cheesier).
I adore creams for my dry skin. I have been enjoying your Crazy About Creams feature!!
Allison C recently posted … My Tropical Bath on a Four Degree Day!
Thanks, Allison! I loooove them for my dry skin, too. Glad you’re liking this series.
I think I had the precious metals one about ?7 years ago? They were perfect for me since I was scared about using eyeshadow then. I did buy the Chicolate and Espresso shades after your featured them. Still enjoy the one shadow look most days.
Hi Kate,
I think that’s the jewel-toned one, right? It’ still might be around!
So glad you are enjoying the ones in the pots. 🙂
I’ve been using Revlon Radiance creams since I first came out !
My first eyeshadow ever was a brown cream ! 1966 ❤️
Hi Michele,
Revlon is a solid brand!
P.S. That’s so cool that you’ve been wearing makeup since the ’60s. 🙂
I might pick this up!
I watched the start of the Fyre Festival doc on Netflix with my husband but had to leave for a rehearsal – looks crazypants!
I think you’ll like it. I haven’t tried it yet with our favorite Clinique liquid liner, so if you do give that combo a go let me know. BTW the dual-ended mascara and primer combo you told me about is online at clinique.com.
Nice! It’s so convenient.
I’m just glad it isn’t phased out! I really want to try it because the price is so right.
Oh my gosh, I haven’t heard of this or seen this yet in stores! I must find it! I love makeup like this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
You’re welcome, Erica!
What a lovely glossy eye! 🙂 I haven’t seen Fyre Festival. The only thing I’m watching lately is True Detective (besides Bird Box last weekend). I’ll check it out! Btw, I think your grays are very subtle. My whole hairline would be totally white if I let it grow out, which is the best place to have a stark contrast, right? 😉
Hello Karen,
Does this palette have the same shades as the singles? I was interested in buying the shades caramel and praline but if they are part of the ‘not just nudes’ or ‘skinlights’ then it is more affordable to buy the palette
