You Can’t Deny The Attraction to Illamasqua Magnetism Lipstick

September 6th, 2012 by Karen 17 Comments

Illamasqua Magnetism Lipstick

Like a moth to a flame… I could see that’s how it was for you when you saw me standing there all dressed in black.

There was something in the air between us, a force bringing us together, something invisible. I know you felt it, too.

It drew you to me, coaxed you forward. I watched as you looked down at your feet, intoxicated by my beauty, and took a step toward me. First your right foot, and then your left. But it wasn’t you who moved them, was it? They moved of their own accord, powerless against me.

When your arms slowly drifted upward and away from your body, reaching for me as if on strings, and I saw that the hairs on your arms were also standing, I knew that you were mine.

“Try me,” I whispered, as you held me in your warm embrace. And you did as you were told.

You opened my cap slowly and then —

Gasp! You saw what I was wearing underneath…

A creamy raspberry pink, and the curves! Such beautiful curves!

You tried to look away, knew that you had to look away, but it was no use. You were caught like a fish on a hook. Illamasqua’s new Lipstick in Magnetism ($24.50) had secured her prey.

You covered the distance between us in less than a second, drawing me along your lips. “Where should we go?” you whispered into my cap.

“This way…” I replied, my voice little more than a sigh.

Gently, you placed me into your snakeskin clutch, and I felt my temperature rise.

“Let’s do something fun,” you said, tilting your head to the side.

“Oh, yes,” I agreed. “Let’s.” 🙂 By this time I knew you were just along for the ride. My spell was complete.

“We’ll stop by my place first,” you suggested. “I can put on my black Helmut Lang mini-dress, patent-leather Jimmy Choos and all of my spiked jewelry and chains.”

“Sounds divine.”

Like that, we embraced the night! First, a museum opening, then cocktails at a dimly lit art deco bar.

You sipped a gin martini — two olives, with a twist — watching, awestruck, as I flirted with the bartender.

“How do you do that?” you asked. I could see that you were mesmerized.

“What do you mean?”

“How do you get people to fall in love with you like that?” you pressed.

“Oh, that?” I rolled to the other side of the bottom of your clutch. “That’s easy… I just have them try me on.”

From there, it was off to meet your friends for a late dinner. You ordered the spinach lasagna.

When the waiter set the plate down in front of you, we savored every bite, and by the end of it, I’d faded into a soft raspberry stain on your lips.

When the waiter took the last plate, one of the girls asked, “What should we do now? Where should we go?”

I mulled it over as you pulled me out of your clutch to reapply. You caught a whiff of my faint brown sugar scent and smiled, then swiped a single layer on your lips straight from my tube.

“I’m up for anything,” you said. 🙂

Next stop: the Horde! — in the fall of 2013

I wanted to pace myself with that new book, Outpost, but still finished it in two days! As soon as I read the last page over my lunch break yesterday, I started running around my kitchen and yelling like a crazypants, “Aaaaagh! Aaaagh!” because I was so excited for the characters. I think I even did a few pushups, LOL!

Now I have to wait a whole year for the next installment in the series, Horde.

“Aaaaagh!” It doesn’t come out until the fall of next year!!

This is terrible… What am I gonna do until then? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Well, good thing I made friends with the girls from Cardiff’s Illamasqua counter when I was there to audition because I have a feeling I’ll be spending a LOT of time there once I move.
    That’s just gorgeous.

It looks great on you and I love the color in the swatch but I think, in real life, it would be a bit too pink for me. I’ll have to put it on my “try” list. 🙂

I’m glad you mentioned Outpost again because I was going to get it and then got distracted. It’s sad when you have to write everything down!

That looks great on you! It’s maybe a tad too bright for me, but I think I’m gonna give it a go…

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
