Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star: Star Glossimer from the Chanel SoHo Collection

September 23rd, 2010 by Karen 31 Comments

chanel soho star glossimer review swatches

A glittery pinkish purple lipgloss? Yes, please!

And the fact that this one’s also a Chanel Glossimer doesn’t hurt — well, except for the $27 price. That part hurts, but overlooking the way in which that makes my tummy churn, yippee!

She’s called Star, and like her namesake she’s all about the sparkle (with a very light tint). We’re talking good glitter here, very fine, and it doesn’t migrate around my lips.

Star feels thick and slightly sticky to me with a wear time around 90 minutes (mediocre for a gloss), and I’m glad that Chanel kept her scent- and flavor-free.

I like the way Star looks all by her lonesome as a low-maintenance gloss, but I think she also works well layered atop plum and pink lipsticks, too.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: Chanel Glossimer fans and girls who don’t mind having to reapply often might flip for Star’s blinged-out glitter and subtle color, but this gloss, being from the House of Chanel, comes at a steep $27 price. Available at the Chanel SoHo store and Chanel.com. Grade: B

For some reason, I look at it and think “magic”. Must be in a fairy godmother, wand-twinkling kind of way. I’m sort of glad I’m maxed out on glosses because it’s lovely, but pricey! 🙂

Yes! It totally looks like someone sprinkled some fairy dust on it!

Have you tried any of the Chanel glosses before?

        No, I haven’t, but I have a feeling that they’re luxurious! 🙂

All their make-up looks beautiful and it’s Chanel so I don’t think they can afford to skimp on quality. 🙂 When I make it to Sephora again, I want to check out the glosses and shadows.

The color of the glitter in this looks similar to Milani’s Crystal Gloss in Baby Love.

Thanks for the drugstore option! I’ve tried those and like ’em for the price. They feel a little gritty to me, though.

Yea definite grit factor. I’m a glitter fiend though. the more noticeable the better so i’ve resigned myself to grit/glitter migration

Yay, another Glossimer fan! What are your favorite colors? Astral will always be my favorite (three words: hot pink glitter).

That’s beautiful. I’ve never tried the Glossimer’s before (I tend to stick to my MAC Lipglass or Hourglass Extreme Sheen). Which is your favorite Fall shade?

Good question! There’s been a lot of good stuff, so my favorite color changes practically every day. Right now I’m really liking Chanel Stunt, a creamy plum. I’ll post pics and a review soon. 🙂

      How ’bout you?

So pretty! I want several things from this collection and the Glossimer tops my list! Do you think it’s more sticky than other Glossimers? I don’t do sticky glosses. Gotta have my smooth glosses, even if I have to apply them a million times a day. The Glossimer looks so pretty on you! Thanks for sharing!

gorgeous gloss, don’t think I could bring myself to fork out $27 for it tho… I’d rather spend that on the UD pp package with the minis it feels like more bang for my buck! 🙂

Why would you make such a big deal about how expensive this lip gloss is when you didn’t even pay for it yourself?

Love it! Thank you. I look forward to seeing Stunt on you too. I was going to pass on Star before I saw it here. So you say you had to reapply the Glossimer? I find that they are the only glosses I never have to reapply. Maybe it is the color?
