Too Faced Natural Eye Kit: Practically Awesome

August 24th, 2009 by Karen 19 Comments

too faced natural eye kit swatches-2

As much as I love to marvel at complicated eye looks with crazy colors and lots o’ blending, I get more practical use out of looks that are simple and easy.

I adore all-in-one palettes like the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit ($34, part of the new Naturally Naughty fall collection) for everyday use.

The colors it comes with are of the highly wearable variety, which means they’re on the conservative end of the spectrum, but that also makes the kit a good overall value.

The double-sided brush/sponge applicator may not rise to the level of most MAC eyeshadow brushes, but it gets the job done and qualifies the kit for unexpected travel. Toss it into a purse with peace of mind, secure in the knowledge that the nine neutral matte and shimmer shadows it comes with sweep effortlessly over lids. They range from cool to warm shades and build and blend with ease.

Nude Beach, Honey Pot, Cocoa Puff

Too Faced even threw in three cheat sheets/cards, each describing how to do a different look.

They totes make getting dolled-up more of a cinch. 🙂

They’re small things, literally and figuratively, but lean one up against a bathroom mirror and you’re armed with enough knowledge to properly place shadows for three common kinds of eye looks: classic, daytime and fashion.

If you’ve got school this fall or want a few new looks for work, take a closer look at the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit. Too bad Too Faced couldn’t make room for eyeliner and mascara! 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

I’m loving the colors in this eye kit! I might have to get one. I can’t tell from the pictures if the more glimmer/shimmer colors are full of glitter. Here’s my question Karen: since the cards are stating to press the color onto the lid, am I looking at some fallout here? ‘Cause I frown at fallout. What can you tell me? Are there bigger chunks/pieces of glitter in any of the colors? Because I think these colors would be great to wear during the day in my classroom…

Too cute!! I love affordable palettes because it always feels so luxurious with so many options! And I do love rocking natural looking colors like these. And at first I totally thought the colors on the left were supposed to be blushes. Oops haha

Ooh, that’s pretty. I may have to get one of those to put in my purse for I-woke-up-late-to-get-to-college days.

I’m completely beat from my first day back to school!

This is gorgeous!! Too bad we don’t have Too Faced here..:(

The sucker for palettes(aka Yours truly) is drooling over this now….This is one palette which has colors that can be duped, one way or another, but somehow the layout and presentation is simply beautiful and I like the idea that it come with lesson cards!

I like this palette, all the colors are well chosen and are the colors that I usually wear. Just the other day when I was in Sephora I spotted another palette from Two Faced, and I keep thinking about it even now. It has more pink colors, suitable for summer.

This is a nice palette. I love the packaging and the shades are all very wearable and perfect for natural, everyday looks. But I’m more into bright and bold looks, so I’ll pass on this.

I have used the heck outta this palette since I got it a couple weeks ago! I love all the colors except nude beach (hello, glittery fallout). You should do the looks on the cards and show us some pics, Karen!

OH MY GOD THAT IS TOTALLY CUTE AND UP MY ALLEY.

the charts are like little cue cards that i use to study economics diagrams (i hate finals, boo hoo), except they’re more fun because it’s makeup. everything looks like it could work for me except for the cocoa.

i love these nude palettes, i have the new BB one and it’s amazing too.

    Hi Karen,

Thanks for the review, I actually saw this at Sephora but was debating whether I would get it or not. I’ve been meaning to get a handy neutral palette for some time now. Any other recommendations of stuff similar to this??

      Hi Patti,

What a coincidence — I was cruising Beauty Crunch the other day and found a couple of cheap, interesting neutral palettes. These caught my eye:

      • Awakening Eye Kit by Pixi ($11, originally $24): a good mix of neutral shades in a sleek case
      • Pop Beauty Tan Popper ($15, originally 40): neutrals with some pops of color, with some bronzers and pencils to boot.

I actually was browsing the to faced line today.
Picked up there shadow insurance, after losing my urban decay primer potion on holiday,i thought i would give this one a try,as i know that bottle ud has will get on my nerves lol. This palette looks pretty,i dont remember seeing it,but i was in and out the store quick as i had my teenage son with me lol. Not conducive to beauty browsing, when you have one of them with you lol.

This would be a great kit for someone who is starting out with make-up or a recent college grad starting a new job.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
