Tokidoki Kabuki Brush, A Haiku Review

April 8th, 2010 by Karen 27 Comments

Kabuki Brush by
Tokidoki, you’re so cute!
Price: 28 bucks.

Long, soft bristles… they’re
Antibacterial?! That’s
What Sephora says.

Full, fluffy brush head
Distributes product over
A wide area.

Too much product? No.
And not too little, either.
Just the right amount.

Powder or bronzer
Application — oh so fast!
Fab for rushed mornings.

It’s a work of art;
Pricey, yes, but beautiful.
MBB Rating…

A+ 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m still so confused… what exactly are Kabuki brushes for, compared to other large powder brushes? >.<

They’re usually more dense than other large powder brushes, so they grab a little more product and distribute more to the skin, giving more coverage (if, for example, you’re applying foundation).

I like how I had to say “more” four times in one sentence 🙂 haha.

DUDE. I am SO EXCITED. My friend said she’d get this for me for my birthday so we’re going to Sephora’s VIB event together tonight. I so can’t wait!! LOL! 😀 😀 😀

Glad to hear you like it! Some people were saying it’s too fluffy/not stiff enough for powder, but I usually use a pretty fluffy brush anyway so I’m hoping it works out for me!

Love the haikus too hahahaha. 😀

    I tried to make a
Haiku that rhymes, but I failed.
    Please teach me how

    :p

Not only mine doesn’t rhyme, I’m not quite sure if this is a Haiku…

Anyway, this brush looks intriguing. I’ve never seen a square-ish brush. I gotta pet it when I head to Sephora this Sunday (to use my discount coupon =D).

Is this brush dense? I mean I have a few Kabuki, they are dense, but they don’t quit feel like “strong” enough if you know what I mean. Like how the MAC ones is very…. hmmm… “strong”…

I was considering getting the MAC 134 brush solely for bronzer, but it’s around $64 (Canadian) so now I’m thinking this would maybe be a better buy? The Toki Doki kabuki is probably in the $30-something range here.

You have pretty much convinced me that I need that brush. I wanted it from the moment i saw it, and since it gets such a good rating, I know it’ll be worth the money.

I’m not a Sephora VIB yet… but I wasn’t even invited to the regular BI 15% sale at Sephora… 🙁
I really do want to get this Kabuki brush now though!

I can’t believe you dare to put a brush in the paws of Tabs… what if he swiped at it and half the bristles came out? 😛

    I am loving this
    Haiku-type series of posts
    They are fun to read!

You make me get all creative! I love this tokidoki line, the characters are so cute! And of course it doesn’t hurt when the product is as good as the packaging 😉

Love your reviews. Short and sweet ;D. Is this brush god for buffin’ in foundation? If not, is there a better one? I hear MAC 187 is the way to go, but I hate spending 50+ on one brush :p

Thanks for the review! I’m really liking that it is antibacterial. The one brush that I don’t like washing much is my kabuki brushes (hence why I have a few). They take a long time to dry and are so hard to clean.

It looks so soft & fluffy that I would want to just brush it on my face for the heck of it. XD The design is very cute too. As expected of Tokidoki. 🙂

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
