This Spring, Estée Lauder’s Big Plans for Pigment Involve the Pure Color Blushes

Wearing Estée Lauder Pure Color Blush in Electric Pink

Holy frickin’ rad, Batgirl! I almost don’t know where to start…

The new Estée Lauder Pure Color Blushes are so packed with pigment that they might even make seasoned MAC addicts shed glittery tears of joy.

Estée Lauder went BIG with these new $28 blushes. Literally. The oversized pans are huge!

To put them in perspective, a husky tabby’s butt barely rivals their size. 🙂

And the powders? Let me put it this way: softer and finer than powdered sugar.

The 16 new powder blushes dance onto Estée Lauder counters, and into EL’s permanent line, next month. This week, I’ve been getting acquainted with one of the shades from that launch and three from a limited edition collection coming in May.

Clockwise from the red pan in the lower left: The Siren, Fearless, Naughty and Electric Pink

Carnation-colored Electric Pink is the shade bound for the permanent line. Soft and wearable, it kinda reminds me of a chillier version of MAC Blushbaby.

Reddish orange Naughty, bright red The Siren and hot pink Fearless, the bright limited edition shades, comprise a three-piece Pure Color Blush Collection By Tom Pecheaux, and when they arrive in May, they’ll be exclusive to Macy’s.

All four blushes apply with vibrant color that stays true from morning till night, and only one thing stands in their way of cheeky domination…

Application!

These can be a little tricky to apply. The colors are just so saturated and rich that I do have to spend a little time buffing out the edges.

No biggie. With these, I seem to get the best, most natural-looking results when I apply them with a synthetic fan or skunk brush, both of which deposit less product and produce a sheerer look than a traditional blush brush.

And with the brights? Like Naughty and The Siren? Even with a fan or skunk brush, I still have to be very careful to use an extra light touch; otherwise, it’s say hello to Baby Jane.

While they may take a little longer than your average sheer blush to apply, I think these Pure Color Blushes are all kinds of wonderful (and once you get the application down, it’s all gravy from there).

You have been warned! If you do decide to give these a try, don’t be surprised if it’s love at first swatch.

PRICE: $28 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming to Estée Lauder counters and online next month; the three-piece limited edition Pure Color Blush Custom Collection by Tom Pecheaux (Naughty, The Siren and Fearless) arrives in May exclusively at Macy’s
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

Small victories…

Well color me relieved! We’re over another hump, and for your diligence and dogged perseverance, you deserve candy. 🙂

What are you up to tonight? I’m pretty excited because I have new episodes of Justified and Southland waiting on the DVR. Combined with the following springy colors from Essie, this has the makings of a great night.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I can’t believe how well pigmented they are! Do they have shimmery shades too?

Yes they do! These are the satin finishes, so they have a little bit of sheen.

    Hello gorgeous (aka Karen)!

Do you fancy these, or the recent Tarte releases?

      Hi Lisa,

I love both for different reasons. These are cool because they’re so bright and are perfect for those days when I want a big pop of color on my cheeks. The Tarte ones, on the other hand, are easier to apply. Plus, they’ve got that great shimmer so they’re a bit more fun and flirty. It really depends on the look you’re going for. Are you wanting something more sophisticated, or something more playful?

This is insane! I love matte blushes (fine, shimmery ones too, but for some reason I’ve ended up with more shimmery ones), and these look super pigmented! I just ordered a skunk brush, so I should be able to handle this 🙂

      Hi Sunny,

These are technically satins so they have a tiny bit of sheen.

I wanna grab all three of those limited edition blushes (really! They should make it permanent!).
I’m used to applying pigmented blushes a la NARS, so this is right up my alley!

Estee Lauder blushes are so amazing. It has that touch of sophistication and these new blushes look very amazing. Their Pink and Plum nuance blushes are so famous here in India and I love their Pink kiss blush a lot. When MAC Blush Ombres were released and the peach one went out of stock, a lady mentioned it in Clinique store where I worked and I told her to buy EL’s Peach nuance and she fell in love with me literally….

    hail Tom Pecheux!!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen blushes this pigmented! Are you wearing a highlighter or is it the blush itself? your cheeks are glowing!

Nope, just the blushes. They’re satin finish and have a very soft sheen.

I got very excited about Siren and then had to question if I was a closet clown. This is the second bright red blush that made me say “oooooh!”. I think your Baby Jane comparison was better, though. And it made me laugh first thing in the AM. Thank you, as always, for that! 🙂

HAHAHA! You could do bright red — all you need is a fan brush and a light touch. I’m serious! You won’t be Baby Jane!

I trust you, but if my clown-phobic friend runs away, screaming, I’ll know I need a lighter touch. 🙂

Which reminds me – one of the boys was at the dentist and they gave him laughing gas through a bright, orange clown nose. It was the funniest-looking thing. If I had been there, I might have objected and asked that he get a shot of novocaine instead of the gas; the Hubs took video on his phone instead. I had to admit, it was funny. 🙂

I can hardly wait until these launch! Lauder is breaking my heart as they do this really early leaking and then I have to stalk all the counters for weeks while the counter workers tell me there’s no such thing. I bet out of 16 colors I’ll find one or seven I want.

gorgeous look! love- but palefaces like me will have a hard time. I am not a big fan of their blushes I got for GWP. too tricky to apply. I am more excited about the Nail Lacquer offerings this spring. Tom has outdone himself yet again! already lemming for some Dilettante lacquer.
