The Sonia Kashuk Travel Duffel: Roomy Enough for XXL Tabbies

October 3rd, 2011 by Karen 56 Comments

Sonia Kashuk Travel Duffle

Just how roomy is Sonia Kashuk’s new $39.99 limited edition Travel Duffle? Well, it’s big enough to bear the bare necessities for a three-day weekend (or maybe four, with a few packing tips and tricks).

It’s also big enough to comfortably fit one XXL 18-pound tabby.

Ya know…in case you were wondering. 🙂

You know how I am about overpacking (I can’t help it!), and this is a bag I can really sink my teeth into. I was able to fit a pair of shoes into it, a few outfits and enough makeup to last me three days. That’s not bad. Plus, I think the pattern looks good with my two favorite fall jackets (one black and one brown).

A cute, HUGE bag at a pretty good price? Yes, please! Now all I need is a long weekend to pack for… Or, I could just keeping toting Tabs around like the feline Greek god he thinks he is. 🙂

PRICE: $39.99
AVAILABILITY: Available at Target stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Have you been watching Terra Nova? I’m watching the second episode right now. I think it’s cool so far, especially if you don’t want to think too hard (I don’t!). It’s like sci-fi light with dinosaurs and a shirtless dude who kind of looks like Mr. Schue from Glee, except with questionable abs that I think might be painted on.

How did you feel about the quality of the bag? It’s super cute, but I always worry carrying a cheaper bag that with the weight of my overpacking the stitching will rip or something will tear and poof! there goes my new cute bag!

What is it with kitties and bags? My Daphne loves sitting in my suitcase or overnight bag when I’m trying to pack 🙂 a few times she’s gotten herself into my large suitcase when it was standing up and gotten stuck until I hear her tearing up the lining of my precious purple suitcase … she’s not always the brightest, hehe

      Hi Adrienne,

I have and use Sonia’s bags for travel and think they’re very sturdy. However, if you’re looking for something that supports a lot of weight that you will be using day in, day out (like for school books or whatnot, or if you travel frequently and put a lot in your bag), a Lululemon bag might be a better fit. The one I have holds up to 50 pounds and is very roomy. Not as roomy as Sonia’s, but still large enough for a 2-day weekend trip.

Ooh, I’ve heard about Person of Interest. I think El Hub programmed the Tivo to record it!

Wow, that bag is huge! The liner looks like vinyl, which is great since it cleans up so easily (and let’s face it, even with everything in ziplocks, sometimes there are leaking incidents). 🙂

I haven’t watched Terra Nova yet but can use the occasional non-thinking program myself. I finished my Firefly/Serenity marathon last night and then caught a minute of Castle (have never watched it and didn’t last night either… Monday Night Football and all). It was like a freaky time machine for Nathan Fillion – aging 10 years in an hour!

Yes, I agree on both counts!

I was telling the Hubs (who had been been mumbling “sadly, I think he’ll make it through this tight spot” and “isn’t it over yet?” for a couple of days) that I couldn’t get over the change. I quickly added that if I was standing next to my 30 year old self, I’d be looking a little older and heavier too! 🙂 But, it was crazy to see one right after the other. And, totally – still cute as a button. I’ll have to DVR Castle and check it out. It’s on past my bedtime. HAHA!

Jazz will start purring even before I lift him off the ground. He loves attention. Rocky will tolerate being held for a few minutes, but then she’ll squirm out of my arms and bolt. She’s much too independent to put up with Mom’s affection for long. 🙂

Yeah he had so many abs it couldn’t be real. That’s where they went wrong with that! Only Ryan Reynolds has 100 abs movies…
I thought it wasn’t as good as the first episode, I hope they don’t try to hard to have a Lost like thing going on with the show. I just want to see dinosaurs rip bit players out of trucks like in the first episode!

Yeah, I get the sense that it could totally go the Lost route with the mysterious drawings the kids found in the first episode and all. Maybe this last one was like their budget episode, and they’re saving all the big $ special effects for later.

I’m also like you – I have a strong tendency to overpack and include those items that I may need “just in case”. Of course, 9 times out of 10, I don’t end up needing them…and then I just lug them back. 😛

Awww, Tabs in a bag! That’s adorable (and what a sturdy bag)! One of the cats I had in a kid would always hop in big bags and suitcases. 🙂

Speaking of tabbies…we have KITTENS! 😀 Two 13 week old kittens! They’re brother and sister — silver tabbies. I’ll send you photos when I get some good ones. We got them on Sunday. The girl’s name is Tesla, but the boy is sadly still nameless. He hasn’t responded to any of the ones I’ve tried, which makes me wonder if we haven’t found the right one or he’s not going to respond to anything until we say it 400 times, lol. Gizmo discovered them yesterday and seems to be okay with it (right now, though, she’s staring at me from the cat tree). Tigger is still unaware, but he’s sweet to everyone so I imagine he’ll be fine. Ahh! So excited! 🙂

They’re staying for good! I’m so excited. Whenever I enter the room where they’re staying for the next couple days, they run up to me, chirping happily, and then they both circle me when I sit down, rubbing up against me and purring. It’s the cutest welcome EVER :). He’s a little more active and adventurous than she is, but she is an amazing leaper.

The only problem is that right now, they’re the same size, and they look so much alike that it’s hard to tell them apart! Her eyes are closer together, and she has more “eyeliner,” so you can tell them apart if you’re looking at their faces. While his feet are a bit bigger than hers and his coat is the tiniest bit darker, the differences are so subtle that you only notice them when they’re next to each other. Hopefully, the boy will grow into his bigger feet…

It looks like I need to get this bag for my 14 pounder Cat Tinky. He loves getting into bags.
(Or maybe it’s just an excuse to get this bag for myself.)
And it still got some room left for my 6 pound cat Charon. (Really funny to see both of them together… Black and white, big and small).
Tinky is a bit jealous of Tabs. He thinks he’s just as cute as Tabs, so he wants to deserve the same celebrity status like his idol Tabs. But it’s not gonna happen anytime soon.
Too bad I can’t get this bag where I live…

To Tabs and Karen: Keep up the good work. I really love reading your blog. I check up almost every day to see what’s new. And I really love sundays with tabs the cat. Although I think I know who really does all the work, and lets Tab get away with the credit for it.
