The Sonia Kashuk Beautiful Berries Lip Quad Is a Drugstore Myrrh-acle

March 23rd, 2011 by Karen 44 Comments

sonia kashuk beautiful berries lip quad

G’morning and happy Wednesday, cutie. 🙂 We’re almost over the hump! If you’re in the mood for a mid-week drugstore splurge/reward, what do ya think of Sonia Kashuk’s new Beautiful Berries Lip Quad ($12.99)? It’s one of three in SK’s new spring collection, and it looks like a perfect pick-me-up to me.

The pigmented colors and sleek packaging first caught my eye — so cute, right? — but the interesting ingredients sealed the deal. Sonia added myrrh resin extract to supposedly reduce the signs of aging and the depth of wrinkles, and antioxidant-rich pomegranate fruit sterols to moisturize and protect against environmental damage (the juice has been shown to be good for the heart, so there may actually be some real benefits to its use here).

The quad comes with two unscented, unflavored lipsticks and two glosses. I was surprised not to find a flavor or scent, considering the berry theme, but I figure Sonia felt it was better to be safe than sorry about adding an artificial scent. The non-drying lipsticks, which last about three hours on my lips, feel soft, creamy and non-sticky. The glosses last just about an hour.

PRICE: $12.99 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores and also online

BTW, are you still watching Being Human? This week’s ep was so good.

Argh I really want to try Sonia Kashuk stuff, especially the bendy eye liner brush.

If I owned this quad, I wouldn’t feel guilty about constantly licking my lips or even accidently eating the product for fear of nasty chemical buildup because ‘pomegranate fruit sterols… the juice has been shown to be good for the heart’!

That’s my girl logic at its best 😀

Wow, I’m impressed with all the Sonia Kashuk products you’ve been posting lately! These lippies look beautiful! I like that they don’t have shimmer or glitter. I don’t like the way it feels on my lips and can imagine feeling it in every even remotely shimmery lip product. Even if the texture isn’t there I can still feel it. I think I have a problem, haha. I’m going to be making a trip to Target today to look at all this fabulous stuff you have been posting about. Also, can you recommend a lip brush? Preferably something that would transport easily in a purse. Thanks Karen!

      Hi Jessi,

I use the MAC 316. It lays down color evenly and is easy to wash.

Pretty! I like that there’s no scent or flavor. I feel like that always distracts from the actually gloss. Well, not always, but most of the time. 😉

For me it really depends on the scent/flavor. It’s always nice, though, when it’s free from both…

So pretty, it would be great for travelling, very handy for creating different lip looks.

I did a Chanel haul today and bought Vitalumiere Aqua, Rouge Coco Shine in Boy (I’ve wanted it ever since I read your review!), the radiance exfoliating gel and Coco Mademoiselle Velvet body oil! The body oil is gorgeous! I would highly recommend if you love the scent.

Thankyou so much for your smokey eye recommendation for my Goth fancy dress hen-do on Sat. I’m going to use the Chanel cake eyeliner duo in Noir-Lame, using the glittery Lame all over the lid and Noir to Line. Then I am going to use the black shade from the ombres perlees palette to blend out and under my eye and their waterproof eyeliner on my waterline. Then my lips will be Rouge Allure in Hysteria. I think It will look pretty cool, and inspired from your suggestion and the Chanel Noirs Obscurs add campaign photos.

    Thankyou so much Karen!

      Hi Alison,

Oh, thank you for the recommendation for the Coco Mademoiselle Velvet Body Oil. I have a gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket… I was just thinking today that I need a Chanel pick me up. It sounds perfect!

Your look for the party sounds wonderfully gothy. Noirs Obscurs = perfection!

I think you will love the body oil, it is heavenly! A little squirt goes a long way, smells divine and left my skin so soft and glowing! Plus it isn’t greasy at all. An A+ product in my book!

Sounds lovely. I’ve been using a body oil lately from Jouer and I’m just about out. 🙂

Oh, question for you — is it very moisturizing? Or do you still have to layer an additional lotion underneath?

I have to say these color look beautiful but for some reason I don’t like lipcolors in palette format. I just don’t like fussing with lip brushes I think and for $12 I’d rather save $2 more and get a MAC shadow or lipstick.
