The MAC Beth Ditto Pro Longwear Lipcremes: A Study in Contrasts

June 2nd, 2012 by Karen 20 Comments

Sure, I’ll take a salty caramel, but I think I’ll pass on the chocolate-covered bacon.

It’s a big seller, you say? Really…? Who buys it? Yeah, I guess I can see it as a novelty, mixing contrasts like that. I guess that’s also what MAC had in mind with the new MAC Beth Ditto Pro Longwear Lipcremes ($17 each).

I don’t know. Something about the mix of quiet colors and bold brights just feels right to me.

LOL! No, not like chocolate and bacon. 🙂 Probably more like salt and caramel.

The hushed hues in You’re Perfect Already (a neutral pale pink) and Love Long Distance (a light mauve) look like they were made with lighter lovelies in mind, while bronzed beauties and darker divas might fall in love with lush, vivid Heart Hangover (a deep purple), Dear Diary (a bright neon pink) and BOOYAH!! (a bright orange).

If you’re new to the Pro Longwear Lipcremes, you’re in luck (here’s a review)!

They’re like the MAC Amplified lipsticks, version 2.0. Creamy, moisturizing pigments with a touch of vanilla flavor and scent, and they last all day long on me, even through drinks and meals.

If you decide to take a closer look when these arrive on counters next week (June 7), make a note to Dear Diary. “Dear Diary, seeing as you’re a punchy pink, I think you’d be a perfect color to wear this summer.” 🙂

AVAILABILITY: Available now at maccosmetics.com and coming to MAC counters and stores June 7 in North America, and internationally later this month

But didn’t you know, everything is better with bacon on it?

Every time I read or hear about this collection, I think about Macbeth…which may be appropriate, I know some people who will kill for limited edition MAC prods.

As expected, BOOYAH! looks amazing on you! I’ve never tried this formula from MAC–and don’t usually do bright lips for that matter. But BOOYAH just looks so…so fun!

I really really really adore how Booyah! and Dear Diary look on you! I think they work SO well with your skin tone! It’s just all kinds of amazing! Heart Hangover would make a great shade for fall/winter too!

I think I may have to haul BOOYAH! Awesome color! I actually have tried a chocolate-bacon bark that a local chocolatier makes and it’s not a bad flavor combo.

I inappropriately want BOOYAH just for the name… and because I’ve just discovered I can pull off orangey reds.

You’re Perfect Already reminds me a lot of Think Pink from Wet n Wild’s Megalast range, it might be a good dupe.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
