Taming Waves with Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious

September 26th, 2008 by Karen 22 Comments

Let me take this moment to apologize to winged creatures everywhere, because since I started using the latest additions to Bumble & Bumble’s Curl Conscious line of shampoos, conditioners and styling treatments, the bird’s nest on my head has been closed for renovations.

The Curl Conscious line has been around for years, but Bumble & Bumble gave it a face lift, adding a few new products and changing the packaging while maintaining the overall focus on products for curly and wavy hair.

Three New Curl Conscious Products

  • Nourishing Masque ($25 for a 5-fl oz. tube), a conditioning treatment usable as a hydrating mask or a regular conditioner (the way I preferred), moisturizes the heck out of my hair. With a lovely orange scent, it softens hair without weighing it down. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A
  • Holding Foam ($27 for 3.5 oz. bottle), a gel-to-foam styling product, delivers exceptional hold and structure for wavy hair, while keeping it touchably soft. I use it on damp hair after conditioning and then air dry. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+
  • Reactivating Mist ($22 8.5-fl oz. for a spray bottle), a spray for either wet or dry hair, re-activates styling product and revives limp curls. I spritz it from roots to ends after applying the Holding Foam. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

If you’re curious about the changes to the Curl Conscious line, surf over to the Curl Conscious section of Bumble & Bumble’s website. It features how-to videos as well as a snazzy “recipe card” with product recommendations for different hairstyles.

How’s your hair doin’ these days? Is it misbehaving or being nice?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Right now I am all about straightening my naturally curly hair but I am intrigued about these products. I have several B&B products (love Surf Spray) so I will keep these in mind when I ready to let my curly hair go wild again.

Up fighting on the currents years ago and my hair is so much better
I am intrigued by the rectivating spray I will pick this up when I go
To get a trim at b+b with my stylist next week I used to use

My hair is way misbehavin’ these days, I have an appointment for a cut next week! I used the old curl creme (just ran out a week ago) and it worked pretty well. I’d like it if they changed the scent, as I didn’t really care for the old one. The only downside is looking at the prices! That’s about $80 for the whole regimen! I guess that’s why I tend to buy hair products one at a time! 🙂

I always want to try Bumble and Bumble products, but they’re so flipping expensive (imo). I don’t wanna spend almost $50 on a shampoo and conditioner and then be bummed if they don’t live up to my expectations, you know? If I do that with a $10 set, it’s so much less upsetting, haha.

I started using the Dove Advanced Care Intense Damage Therapy shampoo and conditioner last week and I am seriously obsessed with it. My hair isn’t “intensely” damaged, but I blow dry and straighten on a normal basis, so I figure my hair won’t mind some extra TLC. I’m totally loving this stuff. It makes my hair so soft and silky and doesn’t mess up my waves or anything. I love finding cheap stuff that’s awesome 😛

I went to MAC today (to get the Cult of Cherry Spiced Chocolate Quad yea yea I know I’m slow) and I found out that we’re not going to have Creamsheen in Europe for quite a while… boo. However, we ARE going to get the Ungaro collection next thursday! Just thought I’d let you know…

    Hi Nosh,

The quest for good curls seems to be an ongoing thing, so I totally feel ya pain. I always like to switch it up with different products. What are your curls like? If you’ve got thick hair like me I could recommend a few things. 🙂

    Hi Marisol,

I go through those straightening phases, too. I tend to wear my straight for events because when it’s stick straight I don’t have to worry about it as much. Do you use a straightening iron, or do you blow it out with a blow dryer and a round brush?

    Hi Yadiq,

Girrrrllll… if you saw the next first thing in the morning then I swear you’d be looking for the birds living up in there.

I used to wear my hair straight every day, but after just giving up and letting it do it’s own thing my life is a lot easier. I get more sleep in the mornings now. 🙂

Ohhh! The Reactivating Spray smells really good! I hope you like it.

    Hi Glosslizard,

Yeah, I don’t even want to think about what I’ve spent on all the bottles of Super Rich conditioner and other B&B staples in my life. It all works, though…

Ugh, I wanna chop mine off right now. Gotta keep the fur to stay warm over winter, though. 🙂

    Hi Brittany,

Dove makes some good hair products. I went to visit my girlfriend in So Cal a few years ago and she had the hair line in her shower and I remember liking it (smells really good).

What do you use to style your waves?

bumble is the only styling products i use – i blame my stylist for that addiction. seriously, it is so hard to get a color/cut and NOT buy any products. With the service, products and tips my stylist thanks me for keeping him in his Prada loafers! =)

If I had naturally curly hair I’d probably buy these products up too! I love me some Creme de Coco shampoo/conditioner. the hair masque is fabulous too!

I can see you looking totally amazing with the right short ‘do, but yeah, you don’t wanna open up your neck to the chill breezes this close to winter! Of course there are always gorgeous cashmere scarves….

    Hi Tami,

I think you can. I would totally use it even if my hair wasn’t curly because it feels very moisturizing. If you need heavy duty hair moisture, another good option is their Deep conditioner, which I also love.

    Hi Lexi,

I here ya! Whenever I go to a salon with B&B products I always end up leaving with some sort of new product addiction.

Do you have a favorite Bumble product? I always go back Super Rich conditioner.

    Hi Glosslizard,

This is true. I could also use short hair as an excuse to stock up on warm turtlenecks and chandelier earrings (cause you gotta have the right accessories).

    Hi Karen,

Thanks for the info. I will check it out. This will probably be one of my purchases in a long overdue haul this upcoming weekend. I will be attending a MAC event for their holiday collection next Sunday and I have been drooling in anticipation…

I really want to try this product but I have tried every brand and product under the sun but nothing works in my hair. My hair is curly half way down but the other half is straight and it’s frizzy all over lol. Do you think this product would help even out my hair, and help me active nice looking curls?

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
