Smooth It Out With Cargo Plant Love Eyeliner

March 16th, 2009 by Karen 15 Comments

cargo plant love eyeliner

Cargo Plant Love Eyeliner’s ($16) soft, creamy texture glides on smoother than a ’90s Babyface ballad, and just like one of his sexy slow jams, it holds up well over time.

If I swipe some on my lash line before my first cup of coffee in the morning, Plant Love’s rich color lasts until my last gulp of Sleepytime tea at night.

Fans of Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils might find a lot to like about Plant Love. It has a similar texture and longevity, but Urban Decay liners set quicker. Plant Love stays smudgeable for about three minutes versus 30 seconds for Urban Decay. The extra time comes in handy when I’m doing a smokey eye with lots of blending and smudging.

There are six liners in the Plant Love liner collection. I’ve taken a look at Midnight Blue and Black.

  • Midnight Blue, a shimmery grayish slate blue, makes my brown eyes pop if I do a smokey eye by drawing a line of Midnight Blue on my upper lash line, and then smudge a shimmery gray, blue or beige eyeshadow powder shadow directly on top.
  • Black applies as a rich, true black with no blue undertones. I think it looks great when layered beneath a shimmery brown, pink or beige.

Made from organic ingredients, Cargo Plant Love’s a “green” makeup line. They’ve been around for a few years. Their liners are free of parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals and synthetic dyes and fragrances.

I never really paid close attention to Cargo’s liners before, but I’m glad I finally did.

Well, at least I finished a ton of reading

sephora-mag

Okay, today has not been one of my cuter days. I think I might have food poisoning. For the record, Monday afternoons are even worse than usual when you spend most of the day in “the reading room” (aka the loo). On the bright side, my new Sephora mag just came in the mail!

Whatever you’re up to, I hope your stomach is cooperating!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Hi Priya,

    Aw, thanks! 🙂

For a liner less than $10, Sally Hansen by Carmindy makes a really great liner called Forever Stay. It has a long wear time.

I also like liners by Rimmel and Prestige, too. 🙂

    Hi Sarahc,

Tabs’ eyes change. Sometimes they’re yellowish green, other times they’re emerald green. I think it depends on how naughty he’s feeling.

Looks good. Maybe I could try these as my first pencil to use on the upper lash line.
How’s your day been Karen? I went to my practicum school (sat on the bus with that cute music teacher and then we went on foot together the last end… hehe) aaaaaaaaaaand… my Strawbaby lipstick arrived!! I LOVE it, it’s perfect for my colouring. It’s like my own lip colour but amplified and pretty 🙂

      Hi Karen B!

These Cargo pencils work great on the upper lash line. They won’t budge for nothing! Plus, they last all day long, too.

It’s 9 a.m. here so Tuesday is just getting started, but so far, so good. 🙂 I finally got a decent night sleep and that makes everything better. Plus, Tabs just arrived so he’s keeping me company.

Yay, Strawbaby! I bet it looks great with your darker hair. Have you tried it paired with a smokey eye yet?

thats so funny you say that about your tummy – try some maalox multi symptom tablets – these have been my saving grace these days

my tummy hasn’t been my friend for days i think it may be from all the eating out i have been doing since being on vacation

these liners look super nice do you feel like they might be a smudgey mess when working out ?

Oh, Karen I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. I hope you get well speedily!

It’s literally dress weather at my house which is GREAT. I was getting so sick of clouds, snow and rain. It’s great just to see the sun. Get this, it’s SEVENTY-TWO degrees today! We’re higher than what was expected. This is my kind of weather! I’m going to get dressed in a dress and take Zena for a walk.

I’ll probably be the only one wearing walking tennis shoes with a dress but I’m not sacrificing pain-free legs for fashion (I won’t, I won’t, I won’t). There are a ton of hills where I live and not wearing tennis shoes made for walking will cause my Cerebral Palsy to act up for days. I’m lovin’ the weather too much to stay inside due to leg pain.

Oh, do you have to pay for that magazine? I would love to see the make-up looks in it.

    Feel better!

I have the “Light Brown” Cargo liner, and it is the world’s best thing for my neither-blonde-nor-brown eyebrows. It has a perfect little shine to it, like actual brow hair.

      Hi Marisol,

I like the makeup, too. It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but I think I’m going to try my hand at one of the looks. 🙂

Well, my hair’s not so dark anymore, it has bleached a lot from washing and stuff (red pigment doesn’t really stick apparently). It does look awesome though. No smokey eye yet though, but I will as soon as my shadows from the Ungaro collection arrive… That mineral e/s is just BEGGING for a smokey eye 😉

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
