Get Lazy Waves in a Minute With Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave Dry Finishing Spray

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave Dry Finishing Spray

Apparently, I can no longer be bothered to spend more than 60 seconds doing my hair because I have bigger, badder, more ferocious beauty fires to put out, like FREAKING BLACK CAT EYELINER THAT IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE.

This morning was rough, man. I couldn’t get the outer wings to line up evenly (for my makeup here), and then the liner just kept getting thicker and thicker… *shakes head*

Silly me for thinking, “Oh, this will only take five minutes.”

And don’t even get me started on the red lipstick. I mean, when a big red lipstick splotch ends up under your right eye and you have no idea how it got there, the makeup gods are telling you in their own twisted way that sh*t has officially hit the fan today.

Since I was running epically late, I had to ditch my original hair plan of curling my hair with the 1-inch Conair curling iron I picked up at Ulta a couple weeks ago. I needed something quicker, so I went with wild, messy waves using the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave Dry Finishing Spray ($38).

Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave Dry Finishing Spray

It’s an aerosol, and kind of like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, but with softer hold.

For a tousled, textured look, I spray it on dry hair and then scrunch with my fingers. You can also use it to perk up second day hair or coax out messy, beachy waves.

When I’m wearing my hair wavy and wild, Art of Hair Texture Wave Dry Finishing Spray takes it from “Did she just roll out of bed?” to purposefully tousled.

It makes getting soft, lazy waves about as easy as possible, although I do have to say that Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is still my number one. I prefer the bigger volume, especially at the roots, and the floral scent (Shu Uemura Art of Hair smells a little like ’80s hairspray to me).

Both are also pretty expensive. A 6.8-oz. bottle of Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave is $38, while an 8.5-oz. bottle of Oribe Dry Texturing Spray will set you back $42.

You can find Shu Uemura Art of Hair Texture Wave now at salons and shuuemuraartofhair-usa.com.

PRICE: $38 for a 6.8-oz. bottle

I love this spray (I posted a review yesterday lol) and the Kérastase V.I.P. is pretty awesome too! Have you tried it? I wonder how it compares to Oribe. I’ll add the Oribe spray on my wish list, I will probably order it when Sephora has the next F&F sale.

I still need to hit up that Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I got the official word today that my promotion went through (yay!) and I just got a haircut, so maybe a trip to BlueMercury is in order.

How long has Shu Uemura been doing hair products?? I wasn’t even aware of that. I have naturally wavy hair, I wonder what such a spray would do for me?

And once again, you made me smile after a long hard day (was quite ill this morning – er, yesterday morning now, then was woken up by his Royal Fluffiness demanding attention, then spent nearly seven hours at the clinic before being diagnosed with food poisoning and viral bronchitis, AUGH)! I am totally in awe of your makeup and hair (and writing) skillz!

I have fine hair in a short pixie crop, so I can’t really do anything with it at the moment – I’m trying to grow my bangs out but I keep getting hairstylists who INSIST on giving me baby bangs, which I hate as they make my forehead look giganormous.

Does this have a strong scent? I would like to try it on my naturally curly hair for texture but I can’t do fragrance in my products. Thanks!

I think it bears reminding that, even when you are running late and think you look like you just rolled out of bed, you look more put together than the 90% of us that are actually on time and trying. HAHA!
