Should You R.S.V.P. for Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow in Seashell Pink?

June 15th, 2011 by Karen 45 Comments

Tarte Seashell Pink

It appears that Tarte RSVP’d for Benefit’s popular Creaseless Cream in R.S.V.P, and, while at the release party, stole the idea for the color, and ran with it all the way to the beach — or the Seashore, to be more precise.

Just how close is Tarte’s new Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Seashell Pink to Benefit Creaseless Cream in R.S.V.P.? The short answer: close.

Both shimmery pink cream eyeshadows look darn near like sisters in their pots and swatches, but I think if you look closely at both of them, you’ll see richer peach pigments in Seashell Pink.

Tarte Seashell Pink on eyes

This was my first experience with one of Tarte’s Cream Eyeshadows, and I’m thoroughly impressed. It layers well, blends easily and also resists water and creasing, even without the help of a primer.

I only wish Tarte included more product for the price. The 0.1-oz. pot is downright frustrating for $22.80. For $19 from Benefit, you get a larger 0.16-oz. pot of R.S.V.P. Sure, in Tarte’s case you also get an eye brush as part of a package deal on QVC.com, but I’d trade the brush for a little more product.

Value aside, I love the color and the way Tarte’s Seashell performs. And if you need an eye brush, it’s an even better deal.

PRICE: $22.80 each

Very pretty colour. It’s perfect for summer when you want to look all ‘glowy’. Thanks for swatching and comparing these! 🙂

I love shimmery pink for summer! Really pretty! But I don’t know, I think I still like the MUFE Aqua #16 the best.

You’re so right — shimmery pink is fab for summer! I love it when I’m feeling/looking tired. Perks me right up!

The colors are very pretty, but you make an excellent point about the price. I love my Creaseless Cream shadows, so I don’t think I’ll be straying from them anytime soon.

Thanks for the review – I love the idea of these products but after getting totally burned by the tarte eyeliners (they dry up within a couple months!) I’m nervous about the shelf life of this stuff. I’d be super grateful to hear how this jar is holding up after it’s been shelved for a couple months!

You’re welcome. Have you tried the liners? A few of ’em made my eyes water.

I’ll hang onto this jar and keep it within arms reach… hopefully it’ll be just as fresh in a few months. Will let you know. 🙂

I bought two of those clay liners and thought they were great, no eye problems, but they shrivelled up within a matter of weeks. Great colors too, it’s tragic that they suck so much!

I would like Tarte to decrease the price and keep the current size. I like smaller pots because I can hardly get through half of a cream shadow or liner before it dries up on me. I own Benefit R.S.V.P, and it reminds me of MAC Bare Study. 🙂

I would love if this was a little less, too! I can actually see myself finishing it if it was cheaper.

Yeah, that price makes me sad. I mean..there’s barely anything in that little pot! And since the Tarte color is so close to the Benefit, I’d go with the cheaper in a second.

A quick and easy eye product for evyerday look but I think it is kind of pricey. Is it close to MAC Bare Study?

I love these Tarte cream shadows, Karen. I adore Slate and Moss is such a pretty green. Burnt Bronze is my fav because it brings out the blue in my eyes. If you order these on QVC they are only $25 and come with a brush which makes getting into the pot a whole lot easier!

Can you tell me about the smell of the new Tarte product? I love the performance of the Benefit ones but the smell gives me a headache. Is the Tarte one more mild since their products are supposed to be more natural?

    Thanks

Oh, I know. They tend to have really good ingredients, though, which is why I think in some cases the price is justified. Have you checked out their Amazon Clay blushes? They’re AMAZING!

It does look a little similar to Bare Study by Mac, but maybe more pink. I have to say I prefer the Benefit swatch.

I’ve been wanting to check these out, but wow, that’s a really tiny jar for the price. Then again, I doubt I’d get through it before it dried out, so I guess it doesn’t matter too much. I love RSVP (and my other ~8572 Benefit Creaseless Cremes, lol), though, so I may have to check this out. 😀
