Should You Be Sweet on Tokidoki’s Perfetto Eyeliner?

May 1st, 2010 by Karen 23 Comments

A few weeks ago, at the height of my torrid affair with Tokidoki makeup, I picked up this cute little number. It’s a liquid liner called Perfetto Eyeliner in Donutella ($16, a medium pink, one of eight shades).

Everything about it just screamed, “Lurve me, Karen!” — the little girl with the donut skirt, the fine felt-tip pen, the pigmented, creamy pink liner…

But the minute I got it on my eyes, I exclaimed, “Oh, boy!”

Most liquid liners can be tough to control, and these are no different. Donutella takes me three layers to get any semblance of a semi-solid line (one where the color STILL looks patchy).

To its credit, Donutella gets props from me for presentation and for having great wear time; its waterproof formula stays put for a very respectable 12-14 hours.

Yup, if it weren’t for uneven application, I’d be all over Tokidoki’s Perfetto liners in all their fun colors. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B-

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Have you tried Perfetto in any of the other colors? What did you think?

I have the black one and I love it! I don’t feel that there is any uneveness. I really wanted the pink one too but I’m not sure how to wear it

This is such a fun color, although I’m not sure I’d know what to do with pink eyeliner. It’s a pity it doesn’t apply smooth, because anything with a doughnut on the packaging is awesome in my book. Is the LORAC liner the best liquid liner you’ve tried yet? I usually use pencils or cream/gel liner, but I’m thinking of trying out liquid

Has anyone else noticed Donutella is a like the pink version of Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Well.. name wise but character wise they are nothing alike :d

The packaging is super adorable!! I love Tokidoki’s packaging on all their products.. it definately makes makeup so much more fun to look at 🙂 Donutella looks amazing Karen. I love love love pink, but i really dont know how and when i would use pink eyeliner. 🙁 I would definately go for Carina though.. that purple shade is beautiful and usable for me. How do you think these compare to gel liners Karen?

Karen how do these compare to the Lorac Front of the Line Pro liner?
I’ve been obsessed with it ever since you raved about it, and now I feel like nothing can compare to it 😀

Ahhh to have money again. Someday. But yeah, I love the idea they have rich, pigmented colors! And the whole design of it is SO adorable. But without proper coverage, it kind of defeats the purpose!

Though I am super curious about the white one. Is it really opaque? Hmmm!

I have the darker colors (sandy, sabochan and arlecchio) and i didn’t have any uneveness problem but when i tested the lighter colors I did notice they weren’t as opaque. Such a bummer they aren’t all winners.

I had issues with this too! It was streaky and applied unevenly. I was in the middle of lining when it dried up so I had to stop, shake it, then continue lining. When I did, it got all streaky and gross. Too bad because I really like the colors.

How do you wear pink liner? I wear purple all the time, but it’s darker and makes my eyes pop. I can only imagine that pink would make my eyes look…enflamed.

I have the spring green and periwinkle shades. You do need to go over the lines a bit to achieve opacity with these shades, but it’s pretty easy to do and the colors are so unusual and gorgeous!!! This is definitely my new favorite liner.

I tried the black one. Just like you I loved the wear time but hated the application. I ended up returning it. If the applicator tip was slightly softer and more pointy for better control I would’ve kept it and purchased more colors.

I got the purple one and am not feeling the love, either. The color was great, but the application crappy. It skipped along my lash line and just didn’t work the way I need it to.

I loove these eyeliners, purely for packaging though because you’re right, they don’t really go on very smooth and you have to reapply a million times for it to actually be seen. Boo…but they’re still soo cute!

I’ve been using it on my lips (lol) because I want my lipstick to stay and not run. And it’s been working! It doesn’t flake or anything. Kinda looks like eye shadow when I use it on my eyes.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
