Pink Fever Strikes! Experts Suspect Lancome Color Fever Lipstick

February 26th, 2008 by Karen 35 Comments

February 26, 2008 – Pink Fever, a new malady afflicting makeup junkies worldwide, has beauty enthusiasts worried. Seasonally, the spread of Pink Fever coincides with pink lipstick lust and causes one to obsess over pink, cherry-blossom-esque lip colors like the three below from Lancome’s Color Fever Lipstick ($25 each) collection.

Symptoms include…

  1. A strong desire to hunt and gather multiple shades of pink lipsticks or gloss.
  2. A faraway, dreamy-eyed look which manifests itself while one discusses last year’s pink Barbie Loves MAC collection.
  3. Obsessive thoughts of lipsticks and lipglosses having the word “pink” in the name.
  4. Rapid pluse rate while standing in close proximity to pink-themed lipstick displays.

Currently, no cure exists for Pink Fever. The scientific community has been at a loss to explain its cause. Treatment has also been difficult. “If you’re rocking the pink lip on a daily basis,” says Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog, “know that you are not alone. There are others out there just as obsessed with pink lipstick and gloss as you are. We’ve got to stick together!”

Do you have Pink Fever?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Pink lipstick is one of my few addictions. MAC’s Snob and NYX’s Heiress are two of my favorites. After reading this I’m considering purchasing Pink in the Limo! Lippies are wonderful! 😀

I do suffer from Pink Fever. I have pink to the club and I love it. Who knows how many other brands and tubes of lippies I have that are pink. At least a dozen.

Funny, I hated pink for a long time. I was traumatized when my mom bought me a pink bed set with the canopy and all when I was a kid. I guess I’ve been infected by this pink fever. I got MAC l/s in syrup last week. I ventured out of my usual “beige” l/s. 🙂 I must say I’m likin’ it.

Just found out that my cousin is engaged…and guess what her colors are. Shades of PINK!!!

Guilty! Pink in the limo looks nice on you. Most of my lipsticks and lip glosses are in shades of pink. Today I got the blues so I put on some green eye shadows and pink lipstick, then I dreamed of the day flowers bloom again.

(I did all those indoors btw, we had a tornado warning!)

I love my MAC syrup. I’m still trying to resist getting lipliner Pink Treat. See how long I could hold off, though.

    Hi Anna,

LOL, I would so do something like that at MAC! In fact, I think I have done that a few times, ha!

Question for ya – when did you try those Lancome lipsticks? Were they from the Color Fever line? The ones I tried didn’t taste weird and had no smell at all, and I’m *very* sensitive to both those factors.

    Hi Brazille,

Me too. I went window shopping after work (I had a long day and needed to de-stress, ahhh!) and I saw a pink dress that was super cute, a cute pink Harajuku lovers cosmetics purse, and a few cute eyeshadows from Shiseido. I somehow managed to exercise constraint. It was tough, though, sigh.

BTW, my credit card hates me too, LOL.

    Hi Joanna,

Pink in the Limo is probably my fave out of the three. And the packaging is hot pink, too! SO CUTE!

I haven’t tried Snob but will look for it next time I visit my fave counter. 🙂

    Hi Kristin,

I love it too! Do you ever pair it with lipgloss?

I think I might have permanent Pink Fever. I cannot be healed!

    Hey PeeChee,

NICE! I love Syrup! I got it about a year ago with my Back to MAC returns. 🙂 It looks so hot with clear lipglass…

Congrats to your cousin! Are you going to be in the wedding? I’m gonna be in a wedding too…remember my friend, Jen, from school? Her colors are pink, too. I get to be a “MATRON OF HONOR.”

    Thanks Dao,

Holy crap, tornados scare me. It’s weird, I live in earthquake country and barely even think about em at all, but things like tornados and hurricanes scare the beejebus out of me.

Since you don’t have flowers yet, you can borrow mine if ya want! We had a break in the rain today, so I’ve been able to appreciate the cherry blossoms, which are blooming right now. We have pink ones lining our street. I also saw some yellow daffodils. 🙂

What green shadows did you wear today? I saw a few greens at the Shiseido counter this evening and I got very excited about them.

Pink to the Club looks great! I’ve been itching to find some new lipstick, because all my current ones (probably less than 10) are looking dull to me right now.

I did the eyes using Grassroot green from Silk Naturals (mineral makeup)all over the lid, then Flash track (MAC) for the outer V, and Steamy (MAC, closest color to Parrot) on the crease and into the inner corner of the eyes. Then I highlighted with some golden shimmering color. I paired the eyes with a very bright lipstick color from Maybelline.

ah, spring is right around the corner. I have a mild case of pink fever-it hasn’t moved to the lips yet (those are still sheer pink, or my lips but better pink/nude, not quite PINK yet)….but my cheeks have pink fever for sure-I’ve been really into my PINK blushes!

    Hi E.D.,

A girl can never have enough pinks! Pink to the Club is very pretty and so easy to wear. It’s shiny but I like to bump it up by adding a touch of clear gloss to the center of the bottom lip. It really makes it pop!
