Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava: Paradise Lost? Find It in This Bottle

June 28th, 2010 by Karen 35 Comments

pacifica hawaiian ruby guava

Adding beauty fuel to my burning Pacifica obsession: Hawaiian Ruby Guava Body Wash ($18) and Body Butter ($18).

Both bits are part of Pacifica’s five-piece Hawaiian Ruby Guava collection of body care products scented with an island-y brew of guava, pomello (a citrus fruit, kinda like a grapefruit) and coconut.

The scent’s been around for a while, and I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner. It smells authentic to me, and not overly sugary or artificial like so many of the Hawaiian-themed fragrances that are out there now. I catch a whiff on my skin and DING! DING! “This is the captain speaking. Flight attendants, prepare the cabin for landing. Welcome to Hawaii, folks, and mahalo for choosing to fly with us and Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava…”

I’m in lurve with the fragrance, but I also like how hydrating both the wash and the butter are. They deliver rich, long-lasting moisture to my skin. Tabs doesn’t really care about that, though. He likes ’em because 1) they weren’t tested on animals, and 2) he adores the packaging.

I’m a little peeved that Pacifica decided to increase the prices of their body butters from $15 to $18, but I’m assuming it had something to do with their switch from jars to the tubes for the packaging. I prefer the new tubes, hands down.

If you like tropical, fruity fragrances, give ’em a quick sniff on one of your next trips to Sephora or Whole Foods, and when you do, close your eyes and imagine yourself under an umbrella on a beautiful tropical beach. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Karen

Ooh, I have both Brazilian Mango Grapefruit and Tuscan Blood Orange on my “to try” list.

      Pacifica sure does citrus well!

Try it next time you’re at Sephora! If the body butter is too heavy for you, then try the lotion. 🙂

I remember the jars and I think the tubes are much more convenient. I’ve been a fan of Pacifica for eons, but haven’t tried Hawaiian ruby guava yet. I guess I’ll have to.

Aloha Karen – I’m kicking myself for not buying these when I was at Sephora at the Ala Moana Shopping Centre in Waikiki last month! I only bought the small gift set with solid perfume, candle, and body butter. I’m still trying to find the stuff in the UK, I’ve seen the perfumes and a few other bits and bobs but not the entire collection. I’m officially an idiot!

      Hi Annabella,

Have you tried looking at health food/organic food stores? They might carry the line. You also might want to check their website to see if they have international retailers:

Right now if you order from the Pacifica Perfume site you can get this scent (along with other body butters) for 25% off (that’s $13.50 before shipping):

I have the body lotion and solid perfume in this fragrance and I love it! Their ingredients are so pure, and the scent is summery and light. My 3 year old sneaks it every chance she gets.

Glad you liked the bath gel more than I did. I thought the pomelo (grapefruit) overpowered the guava smell. The lotion smells wayyyy better. Maybe I got a funky batch.

I’m a big fan of this line. I completely agree with you that these have a truer scent then a lot of others. I hate when things smell like a scratch and sniff sticker. I adore the pikake scent for its ability to put me back in the islands but it is a bit too strong for me to wear. The lilac is killer as well.
