Pacifica French Lilac Body Wash Is Turning Showers Into Gardens

April 12th, 2011 by Karen 19 Comments

Last month I put myself on Pacifica lockdown when I couldn’t find my toothbrush on the bathroom counter. Oh, I knew it was there, buried somewhere beneath a precarious pile of Pacifica Body Butters and Washes, but it took way too much time and shuffling around to find. Gah! “Is this what I’ve become?” I asked my reflection in the mirror.

Right then and there, I made myself a deal. No new bottles or tubes until I finished an old one.

Can I get a woot-woot for small beauty victories? 🙂

The embargo was finally lifted last week, so to speak, when I finished a tube of Malibu Lemon Blossom Body Butter, huzzah! It made room for this lovely bottle of Pacific French Lilac Body Wash ($10 for an 8-oz. bottle).

If you’re still awaiting spring in your area, open a bottle of this in your shower and let its soft, understated floral fragrance and lush coat of foamy bubbles wash the last remnants of winter away.

I would characterize most of the Pacifica scents I’ve tried as sparkling, playful citrus scents, but this one goes against the grain. It’s a soft scent with notes of lilac, magnolia leaves, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, hyacinth and nectarine.

Lilac scents rarely smell authentically like lilac to me, but I think this one does. Light, delicate and feminine, it turns my shower into a botanical garden filled with blooming lilacs.

Tabs enjoys it too — not only because of the scent, but because it’s also cruelty free.

The 100% vegan wash rinses away in a flash and leaves my skin feeling supple and soft. I wish the scent from the wash lingered a little longer on my skin, but layering it with the French Lilac Body Butter, solid fragrance or the pray-on perfume gives it some legs.

PRICE: $10 for an 8-oz. bottle
AVAILABILITY: Limited availability in stores; available now online

I really need to check Pacifica out. I hate when you find a body wash or lotion that you LOVE but they don’t have a matching perfume. I will get obsessed with a scent and almost prefer not to use it at all if I can’t constantly walk around in a cloud of it., like I can if they offer the scent in every form possible.

And I have to buy the Lilac for another reason. My boyfriend somehow is convinced that it is the perfume um, prostitutes, use. EVERY TIME he smells Lilac anything, he says something about it. Not that he recognizes the scent as lilac, but only as the “w***e perfume”. He must have had a bad experience (hopefully!) in a past life! 😉

My Mom is a huge lilac fan. I may have to pick this up for her for Mother’s Day.

I’ve had to cut back on my soap and body butter consumption, too (or at least make sure and purchase more in line with what I use), so congrats on your victory!

    Woot woot!

You’re right about lilac rarely smelling like lilac. It can often be cloying and way too perfumey. I’m glad this one is true to nature.

I LOVE Pacifica’s lilac perfume. I had no idea that they had come out with a bodywash (apparently the bodywash isn’t available at Sephora yet.) I’ll definitely have to go on Pacifica’s site and order some. This is one of my favorite scents and the only genuine lilac smell I’ve found.

Just a tip for those interested in the perfume, there are 3 ways you can buy it: in a spray, rollerball, or solid. I’ve tried all 3 and definitely recommend the rollerball ($12). For some reason the spray perfume doesn’t smell as good to me. The solid perfume smells great but doesn’t last more than an hour tops. The rollerball perfume lasts about 5-6 hours.

Thanks for the tip! I was going to get a perfume but didn’t know what form to buy it in so I didn’t buy anything. Also, I went to Sepora today and mine had the body washes. Maybe yours will soon!

I really like Pacifica but haven’t smelled the lilac yet. I will definitely check it out! Their fragrance doesn’t last very long on me, though, and I have been much happier with Love & Toast’s stuff. 🙂

I just bought my first two Pacifica solid perfumes because of your love of them. The lemon and the vanilla. Both smell SO good! I’m guessing that I will most likely become obsessed, but that’s okay! It could be much worse! ha ha ha

Pacifica things are just so awesome! Love their soy candles… 😀 I also really love that they use vegan ingredients!
