NARS Multiple Tint: Invading a Makeup Dream Near You

June 15th, 2010 by Karen 54 Comments

nars multiple tint review

Last night I had a makeup dream, except that in this dream there was an ice cream truck, and instead of ice cream it sold the new NARS Multiple Tints ($38 each). 🙂

Okay, now here’s where it gets REALLY weird. Instead of applying the sheer, buildable tints to my cheeks and lips, I gobbled ’em up like they were sweet, creamy treats!

Available in three eye-popping shades — Beverly Hills (a bright red tint), Cadaques (a bright fuchsia tint) and Turks & Caicos (a bright orange tint) — these do look a lot like desserts, don’t they? Kinda like Push Up Pops, yum!

But don’t be fooled by their vibrant shades. Each adds just a whisper of highly wearable color.

I’ve been playing with Beverly Hills, the red shade, on my cheeks (NOTE: I also tried it on my lips but didn’t like the flavor…like an odd mix of concentrated Hawaiian Punch and Sour Patch Kids) this week, and, impressively, it lasts for a good 6-8 hours! — even without a primer.

For a quick, easy cheek flush, I swiped BH directly from its travel-friendly tube and blended out the edges with my fingers. I gave it a try on top of powder, where it worked aw-ite, but it seemed to excel on bare skin or atop foundation.

A NARS Multiple Tint tip from NARS National Trainer Janice Daoud

For a sexy flush, mix and apply Beverly Hills and Cadaques beneath the curve of each cheek. Then, add a pop of color to the apples with Turks & Caicos.

Texture wise, Multiple Tint doesn’t feel like the original NARS Multiples to me. The OG ones apply moist but dry to a powdery finish; these, however, have a wetter texture and a glossy finish not unlike the gel Cheek Stains from Tarte.

I’m a fan of Beverly Hills and might pick up the other two. I sure hope NARS considers adding these shades to the permanent line (hint hint!). Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Available now at Sephora stores, NARS counters and NarsCosmetics.com.

You might like NARS Multiple Tints if…

  • You dig cheek stains
  • You like long-wearing blushes with a (slightly) glossy finish
  • You want a fast, effortless flush
  • You like the idea of buildable color

Good mornin’!

Haaay, boo. 🙂 I hope you slept well. Apart from the occasional odd dream, which are like free entertainment, my insomnia hasn’t been bad lately. I wonder if it’s due to the Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra tea I’ve been having before bed…

It’s juiced up on valerian, which makes the bags a little stinkier than the original, non-Extra version, but who cares if it works, right? One cup of this before beddy-bye and I’m out like a light!

Have a kick-@ss day today. Holla at me and let me know what’s new.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Good morning 🙂 I have to say I wasn’t at all tempted by the colors of the new Multiples, but seeing them on you (and the NC20 skin) makes me A LOT more curious about them!

On a totally different note, have you been to the redone California Academy of Sciences? My bf and I went for the first time during “Heroes” month – when they let police, firefighters, and teachers in for free. It’s mind-bogglingly beautiful and SO COOL! And I just found out they have 21+ Night Life once or twice a week. This Thursday there’s going to be a guy doing Physics demos, plus all the normal stuff – and we just decided we’re going. I love summer for the ability to be able to choose that sort of thing – usually we have to plan way ahead of time, AND we have to avoid school nights (especially if they’re out of town!). I am SUPER excited 🙂 Yay!

Yes, I’ve been to the new Ca. Academy of Sciences and it is AWESOME. You will love Night Life! I went once last year… I remember it well because of this lizard/beast thing:

This picture doesn’t adequately convey my terror!

How’s the baking going? What did you make today?

The pumpkin bread I made yesterday is quickly being demolished. I didn’t bake anything today, but I did make some cucumber/red onion/dill quick pickle things. I also set up some cold-brew coffee so that tomorrow I can have a coffee in the morning (I’ve only had tea since last week). I think tomorrow I will make something with cherries, since I just picked up a bag at Nugget and they’ll go bad within a day or so.

You should think about going to Night Life this Thursday. 🙂 The guy doing the demo is doing all Physics things (and those are always cool . . . take it from a science teacher who has seen all sorts of science demos).

      Hi Masi,

Aww, it actually looks really pretty on lighter skin. Just use a little less (I built it up here so you could see the color) and blend, blend, blend!

I drink a cup while I read a magazine or a book before bed. It’s very relaxing.

I can’t even fathom waking up at 5:15! Anything earlier than 6 and I’m pretty much useless. Is it hard for you to wake up at that time?

It was hard at first … like I was majorly grumpy for the first few weeks I had to do it. Now ive adjusted and found that my wakeup time during the weekend has also gotten a bit earlier … not unless I specifically decide to sleep in. 🙂

i have “just a pinch” by mac which reminds me of the beverly hills nars color…

i LOVE LOVE LOVE sleepy time tea, especially the one with the extra valerian. i also struggled with insomnia for awhile and this is one of the only things that helped!

There is also a company called “traditional medicinals” that also sells good teas for any sort of health related concern, including insomnia, they sell them at any drug store!

BH looks lovely on you. But I’m staying away from the tints, I think — I can’t stand the sticky finish of Tarte’s similar blushers! I love how they look, but not enough to trudge through the finish.

I bought the Turks and Caicos and wanted to experiment and see how it would look even when I’m very light (/no self tanner). It’s so sheer that it works, it just looks like juicy punched up color. But on tanned skin it looks AH-mazing, gives me that Polynesian Island girl glow that makes me want a flower in my hair too.

    Now I want the others……

Funny, I was just thinking about the new iPhone this morning, because I realized that I won’t be able to use the hot pink Kate Spade cover I got for Christmas anymore. 🙁

What color do you think you’re going to get? The white or the black one?

I decided on the black one… I think. I read with previous white iphones that people said they would get tiny scratches and then dirt would build up in them, making them look obvious. I just kinda wanted white so it would look different from this phone I’ve had for 2 years. and I’m sad I won’t be able to use my case anymore either – I have this one: http://www.getuncommon.com/artwork/1669/

I played around with the NARS multiples in a Sephora once, and I couldn’t figure out how to use them without making myself look like a sparkly teenager. I also hated the texture – too hard to apply. I know they’re a super favorite among, well, everyone, but I just didn’t get it. Maybe I’ll like these wetter multiples better.

Also, Karen, you’re skin looks perfect, I don’t know what pores you’re talking about.
Sure, I may complain about my pores too, but honestly I don’t think a single other person sees them or cares (since I guess no one stares at our skin as closely as we do in the mirror, which is a good thing).

The macro photo of the tube seriously makes it look like one of those push-up ice creams. You look so glowy with BH!

I am cream/gel blush obsessed. I really like the dewier finish, I think it makes the skin look a little more fresh/natural than a powdered-down finish. So… with that reasoning in mind… I bought all three of these. 🙁 Turks & Caicos will be so great paired with a tan when the weather really heats up. And Beverly Hills will give the perfect just-out-from-the-cold kind of flush in the fall! 🙂
