Miss Oops Mishap Tape Prevents Wardrobe Mishaps

September 2nd, 2008 by Karen 33 Comments

Carrie Bradshaw can get away with flashing her bra straps on Sex and the City, but I never got behind the fashionably visible undergarments trend. Some girls can pull it off, but when my bra straps show, I feel exposed. When I’m wearing a loose-fitting dress or top, I reach for Miss Oops Mishap Tape ($7).

Made from a hypo-allergenic adhesive, Mishap Tape is transparent, super sticky, stretchy and double-sided. I apply it directly to my bra straps, clothes and skin. A single $7 box contains 36 strips, which can be cut or torn down to fit the job at hand.

Unlike double-sided office tapes used to mount paintings and seal envelopes, Mishap Tape easily adheres to skin and clothing, is hypo-allergenic, won’t stain fabrics and the tape itself stretches to move with your body.

Perfect for hiding bra straps, Mishap Tape also works to close gaps on button-up shirts, to keep strapless tops or dresses from falling, to fix loose hems or to keep “the girls” from peeking out of a low-cut top.

I keep a few strips of it in my wallet because cause ya never know when a hem will come loose. They’re also easy to use. I wore an orange dress to the art store the other day, and my bra straps kept trying to to make an appearance.

I applied Mishap Tape directly to the straps, pressing the dress against the tape to keep it in place.

It took about a minute to do and lasted the entire day.

Miss Oops Mishap Tap

Price: $7
Use: A transparent double-sided tape for skin and fabric
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Miss Oops is sold worldwide. You can find it online at MissOops.com, or use their store locator.

This is definitely one of those make-my-life-easier products, and they’re safer to use than safety pins. I haven’t fallen so hard for a stick-on product since Walgreen’s Mole Skin entered my life.

Happy Tuesday, ladies! Have a great week. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Thanks for the review! Considering all the “Ahem! Snowing in Florida!” I get, this looks like something I need. Hmmm, looks like the closest store is in my hometown, so it looks like I’ll be “appropriating” my roommie’s double-sided tape until I go home! 😀

This is a really smart idea. I hate it when my bra straps are hanging out. I never really got how that was fashionable, but, meh that’s me. I like that these move and bend with you. I’ve tried to use double sided tape before to keep stuff in place, but it just doesn’t work. It eventually falls off. I’ll have to check these out!

Ooo…this IS exciting. A wardrobe tape that works and doesn’t cost like $20 for six pieces (I’m looking at YOU Victoria’s Secret fashion tape).

Also, Carrie’s visible bra outfits never looked quirky-chic to me. More like, “I’ll take this off at the last minute and OH CRAP I LEFT THE HOUSE WITH IT STILL ON AND IT WON’T FIT IN MY BAG.”

    Hi Angel,

You’re welcome. 🙂 I so feel your pain. I often end up wearing a cami underneath to keep the girls, uh, under wraps. But this stuff is handy too!

    Hi Brittany,

These really do last all day long, which is great. Another plus is that they don’t hurt when you pull ’em off your skin.

I hope there’s a store nearby you that sells em!

    Hi Evie,

Dang, I can’t believe VS can get away with charging that. It’s highway robbery!

Yah, I tried it once and it just wasn’t working for me. I loves me a cute bra but the whole world doesn’t need to see it, LOL.

    Hi Karen,

Thank you for being brave and showing us your bra straps! I’m not digging that show-me-your-bra trend either although some people really rock that look in real life.

I had no idea I was “fashionable” by just having my bra straps showing! I don’t watch Sex and the City so didn’t know this fashion trend.

    Hi Dao,

I hear ya on that one. I can’t really pull it off… although, I guess when it’s executed properly (ie, not a ratty, hella dirty bra, but a pretty colorful one) I don’t mind it on other people.

    Hi Lipglossme,

Carrie Bradshaw would always wear these pretty, colorful bras with outfits, and you could always
    see the straps 🙂

You are the third person I’ve met in the last few months who didn’t watch the series!

Hi Karen, I’m probably the 4th who hasn’t watched the series then! LOL… I love this idea though. I’m going to try to get it. It’ll save all that embarrassment of having the bra straps slip and slide too.

    Great tip!

You think that by paying good $$ for a bra that it would stay in place.

    Hi Parisb,

It’s a pretty great series. You really feel like you get to know the characters, and it’s sharp and well written. And of course, there is the amazing fashion!

I hope you try this product, as it’s very handy and works great.

    Hi Marisol,

Yeah, I hear ya. Sometimes I can’t believe how expensive bras are! When you think about what you’re paying for the square inches of fabric you actually get… sheesh!

RIGHT? Now I can wear tube tops all day long without having to worry about the girls falling out. I’ll also never have to do a pants hem with office tape ever again. 🙂

This is pretty cool! But I always end up wearing strapless bras instead, however this seems like such a better idea since strapless bras are not that…sturdy and convenient…i find myself pulling and pulling at concerts etc. hahahah

    Hi Shockingpink,

I have the same issues with strapless bras. Gravity always gets the better of ’em, they somehow end up around my bellybutton! It’s just wrong! I really hope this will alleviate the situation. 🙂

I have that same problem but with button up shirts. I’m a little busty on the top and my peepers always like to say hello. I found scotch double-sided tape at a dollar store and it works wonders for all my clothes, even when I wash it, it’s still on there.

Actually, Carrie’s bra straps showing didn’t really bug me. I was in high school when the series was on, so lots of girls did that. What bugged me was when she spent like half a season wearing beautiful low backed evening dresses with literally half of a mismatched satin bra hanging out. Sigh…

I am guilty of flashing my straps quite often. I’ll definitively check this out for dresses and special occasions. Thanks for the review Karen!
