Shu Uemura Nail Enamel Supplement Mineral in Gold Beige

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Even with huge work deadlines hanging over my head, I’m not afraid to procrastinate. Procrastination? I say bring it! Last night, when I should have either been sleeping or working on my project for work, I was painting my nails.

I’m on a Shu Uemura nail polish kick, and last night’s midnight manicure in Gold Beige may not have been the best use of time. Eh, who am I kidding?? Of course it was! I officially love these polishes and can’t wait to get more. Gold Beige dries fast, applies easily and looks great.

I actually did my Gold Beige midnight manicure sitting in front of the computer. I’d apply a layer of polish, type one-handed for five minutes, do the other hand and then repeat. Each layer dried quickly, but not too quickly. And I love the consistency, which isn’t runny at all. I stopped after applying three layers, which seemed to be enough to really make the golden-peach shine.

Not to pick nits, but in a perfect world, there are a couple things I would change about this polish: the finish could use a little more shine, and I do wish it were a bit cheaper.

Besides those two little issues, this color rocks! I plan to apply a protective top coat of Seche Vite when I get home from work tonight. That should ratchet up the shine factor!

I plan to wear this shade throughout the spring and summer.

In other news, thank goodness for concealer because today I look like a zombie, LOL! I stayed up way too late last night, furiously typing ’til the wee hours of the mornin’, and now I feel tow up from the flo’ up. Seriously, it’s frightening. I gotta hang on ’til Thursday. Gotta hang on ’til Thursday. That’s when I turn in my project for work.

Whatever you’re up to today, I hope you’re staying positive. If you keep on truckin’, then I will too.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

    Hi Karen!

Such pretty nails, they look like they would go great with Gazelle! 😉

I’m still under the weather, but hauling my carcass over to the dojo to watch my little guys take their first promotion tests today! If I’m still hanging in there, you can too… but I hope you can sneak in some shuteye tonight! 🙂

How cute! I hope the wee ones do well on their tests! Do you think you’ll be healed enough by Friday to take yours?

You’re AMAZING for painting your nails at midnight! And they look good too! It’s a cute color on you, but one I wouldn’t sport often. I’m into pretty pinks for spring and summer. Speaking of which, I need to buy nail polish for my DIY manis 😀

My Hump Day is pretty slow so far – I’m trying to stay awake by eating sugar in the form of a rice krispy treat and surfing blogs 😉

Love the midnight nails. It Sunbasque in nail lacquer form, lol. Midnight is my bedtime around here. The kids get put to bed by 8. Hubbo at 10, and me at midnight. Gotta have my extended ‘me time’ 😉

    Hi Lilan,

A Rice Krispy treat sounds really yummy right now. I’ve been super stressed for the last few days and when that happens my body craves all things sugary. BAH!

I haven’t worn nail polish in a LOOOOONG time (I’m talking months) but this formula is so easy to use and dries so fast that I actually enjoy using it. For me a big part of the DIY manicure is the speed of the drying process, because I always get so antsy waiting for my nails to dry and inevitably I’ll end up messing them up if they take too long to dry.

What’s up for the night? Going out or just chillin?

    Heya Lynne,

I hear that, girlfriend. Usually I’m nocturnal (I love the nightlife, I love to boogie, on the disco round, oh yah!) but after a few consecutive nights of stress and no sleep it starts to build up. But hey, I’d rather have projects than not have project. At least it keeps me out of trouble. 😉

    Aww Miss Karen,

I’d be happy to share some rice krispies with you!! I’m thinking about making Easter ones with pastel sprinkles or something throughout for fun this weekend 🙂

What do you normally crave when you crave sweet?

Fast drying nail formulas are pretty key – I’m clumsy and mess up my nails 95% of the time, even when I pay to get them done! Oh well.. I think I’ll try my luck at Rite Aid or Walgreens and hunt for a quick-drying formula too.

Hopefully you’re almost done with your project – Thursday is almost here!

Oooh those nails look fab Karen! I love the way you’ve applied the polish so neatly and evenly, I always manage to a) smudge them and b) apply shakily – such that it is on my cuticles too. Lovely colour..I love peachy shades.

I am officially the proud owner of a Shu Uemura brush! After days and nights of obssessing about getting one (I even dreamt of buying it), I finally went to the Shu Uemura counter at Galaries Lafayette to get it. The makeup artist guaranteed me that it would NEVER shed and it could last me 10 years. And I obediently paid 57eur for it, which is pretty much what I CAN’T afford but it’s well worth the money because this morning, I used the brush, and I said to the brush “I love you” and someone on the streets actually said to me “ooh, toute belle” (all pretty). All hail Shu Uemura brushes!

    Hi Lilan,

Good luck on the nail polish hunt! Oh, you should ask your mum which ones she thinks dries the fastest!

I crave a whole lotta crap when it comes to sweet. Depending on my mood I want either brownies, cupcakes, cookies, Life Savers Gummies (LOVE THESE!), carrot cake, ice cream. I don’t think I could ever do one of those no-sugar diets. I would surely lose my sh*t.

    What’s going on for today?

    Hi Ilovecheese!

Mine are usually a mess, too (especially the cuticle area). I think what makes a huge diff is the formula! Thick, goopy formulas that take forever to dry just don’t work for me. The Shu version is very thin and dries super fast… that’s why it looks good. Trust me, I am not coordinated, especially at midnight and especially after consecutive nights of very little sleep, LOL!

    Hi Breezy,

Thanks dear! It’s almost done, I just have to make it through tonight 🙂 I haven’t painted my nails in forever, either (they take such a beating with typing and working with paper) but I really like this formula. So easy to use!

I’ll definitely ask the mamasita what she likes best, but I know they use a lot of Essie and OPI at the salon. 🙂

I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but when I crave, I like ice cream and creamsicles. Gummi worms are also up there – anything that’s not too sweet will hit the spot!

Tonight we’re getting ready to have some yummy Korean BBQ shortribs, with some kimchi and noodles. Mmm, I can’t wait! What are your plans tonight? Finish up your big project? I hope so 😀

Don’t you hate not being able to have some unplanned moments so you can just sit around thinkin of something you could do? hahaha. We have our yearly memorial to go to (I’m a jehovah’s witness so we do that every year) and then on sunday we’re doing a surprise grad party for my sister – Boo I want some down time. Hi Breezy,

Aww, that’s nice that your sweetie is coming to visit, even if the weekend is totally planned. Like you, I need some downtime to just sit around and let my mind wander. This weekend I’m going home to my parents’ house for Easter. I can’t wait, because my mom usually cooks me something special to eat. 🙂 I am also going to do some cleaning (my house is a mess). Oh, and I really hope to just sit and read for a few hours. I have a few books that I’ve been really wanting to read but just haven’t had the time to lately. 🙂 Totally not exciting, I know!
