MAC Holiday 2015 | Magic of the Night Color Collection and Gift Sets

October 7th, 2015 by Karen 28 Comments

mac holiday 2015 magic of the night

This year I really, really hope I get an invite to a Hogwarts-style enchanted garden/magical nighttime holiday event because then I’ll have the world’s most fitting excuse to get gussied up in makeup from the MAC Holiday 2015 Magic of the Night collection.

I just hope I can find the right black-tie pregnancy dress, hmm… 🙂

Oh, boy! This collection is a doozy. It’s a big one, and it’s split into two parts. First, there’s the color collection, spell caster’s codename “Magic of the Night.” And then there are several holiday gift sets in three different categories, appropriately named Enchanted Eve, Irresistibly Charming and Viva Glamorous.

Playing with these pieces today it was pretty much love at first swipe. The color theme and deep jewel-toned smoky eyes, gleaming skin and matte lips are totally my style, and I’m a sucker for the magical vibe.

MAC’s new line of Colourdrenched Pigments definitely caught my eye. They’re soft and saturated pressed powder eyeshadows that feel almost like creams, and they are intense! And then there are the lovely In Extra Dimension Skinfinishes, which are, in my opinion, quite possibly the most perfect highlighters MAC has ever made.

Come take a closer look with me in the video at the top. 🙂

I only gloss over a few of the holiday sets in the release, but I will be using them to conjure up (haha) a couple looks over the coming week.

Aaaand here’s a quick rundown of the MAC Magic of the Night products I’m wearing in the video…

  • Colourdrenched Pigment in Night Thrill — inner corners and inner part of my lower lash line
  • Ascent of Glamour — outer part of my lower lash line
  • Tonight’s the Night — lids
  • Moon Is Blue — outer half of the lid
  • No Taboos — outer V
  • Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Black Swan — smudged along the lower lash line
  • In Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Shaft of Gold — as a bronzer/blush on my cheekbones
  • In Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Oh Darling — as a highlighter
  • Matte Lipstick in Please Me — lips

As always, thank you for watching, and happy spell casting with MAC Magic of the Night!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. The collection arrives at MAC counters October 22, but it’ll be up on the MAC website a few days earlier on October 18.

      Hi Isabel,

I’m wearing MAC Waterweight all over with Dior Nudeskin on the cheeks and nose. I set it all with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. To conceal the under eye area, I used Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift to color correct, Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer to conceal, and then set it with Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. And thanks regarding the blending… there were a lot of shadows up in the mix, which always makes the transitions easier. Takes a while though!

Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

On Youtube Somebody mentioned Bladerunner, and I’m totally getting that vibe. Very retro-futuristic. We should all go over someone’s house and play Atari now, haha!

It does have that kind of futuristic look, for sure. OMG, on Atari. I saw a commercial last night (can’t remember what for) that showed the console. Video game tech has changed a bit! HAHA!

Ooohhh that teal/green pigment is screaming my name. And the highlighters… Ugh I want! That green pigment as a liner all around the eye would be so pretty. Karen why do you do this to me??? Dates are saved into my phone so now we’ll just have to see how badly I still want these by the time they’re available.

Hi Karen, thank you so much for this delicious sneak peek into the upcoming MAC Holiday release. Because this release is so expensive, would it be possible to add to the blog specifically what products will be available online and in the stores and the dates? (I know most are online Oct. 18 and in store Oct. 22 except for one group that’s being released online on Oct 27 and in store October 29.)

I’m diving in on those MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish compacts! WOW!

You are the best, Karen! Thank you! (You are also the first to come out with the launch specifics.) I will have my in-laws in town when this is all going down, but I will have those Extra Dimension Skinfinish compact.

    Many thanks again!

I love the Color Drenched Pigments, though Night Thrill looks less impressive than the others. I’m really the packaging on the Holiday collection. MAC holiday collections can have iffy quality, though.

Totally with you on that. The eyeshadow palettes are either hit or miss. I do love the little Pigment sets though! They last forever and you get a good variety of colors.

Happy Thursday to you! I’m sleepy today for some reason. I guess I want it to the be weekend already, LOL!
