These $8.99 L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners Are Like Getting Two of UD’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils for the Price of One

L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners, $8.99 each

“YOU DON’T NEED ANY MORE EYELINER,” yelled my friend Cindy over email yesterday as we discussed what to do on our next meetup (this was right after I proposed lunch and a trip to Ulta).

Oh, really, Cindy? L’Oreal’s new Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners ($8.99) would beg to differ. 🙂

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner shades from the purple to the silver: Pure Purple, Cobalt Blue, True Teal, Gold and Silver
Left to right, from the purple pencil to the silver one, those are Pure Purple, Cobalt Blue, True Teal, Gold and Silver

When I hold one of these pigmented, long-lasting, silky smooth liners up to my ear, I hear one of my favorite sounds in the world… The sound of spare change jingling into my Hello Kitty coin bank. 🙂 Because they’re less than 10 bucks! And they’re more or less the same as Urban Decay’s $20 24/7 Glide-On Pencils, which means they’re pretty awesome.

Five of the 10 shades…

Don’t dawdle after you apply them, because once they set (it takes about a minute), they don’t budge. I like using them, especially Pure Purple and Cobalt Blue, for pops of bold color along my lower lash lines and inner corners.

The only thing I’m not crazy about is their reluctance to hang out on my water lines. On my lash lines? Not a problem. They’ll stick around for eight hours between touchups, but on my water lines, they’re gone within two.

Another thing: they’re super soft — like fragile soft — but if the tips keep breaking off when you sharpen them, stick the pencils in the fridge or freezer for 20 minutes. It makes them harder and easier to sharpen.

They’re available now in 10 shades for $8.99 each at drugstores, Ulta stores and ulta.com.

Silkissime!

What does that mean, anyway? 🙂

PRICE: $8.99 each

And the award for Best Performance by a Frozen Lunch or Dinner goes to…

Amy's Bowls Mexican Casserole

I don’t usually mind making meals, but yesterday was a looong day, and by dinnertime, I couldn’t deal, so I picked up this Amy’s Mexican Casserole Bowl when I went to Target to get those bras.

OK, let me break it down… It’s like an enchilada, but it’s in a bowl. You get black beans, sweet corn, olives, white corn masa, cheese, tomatoes and enchilada sauce. Oh, my gosh! So much flavor, and just the right amount of spice.

Five minutes in the microwave, and you have a damn good dinner. I should have gotten more of them.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oooh.. I just picked up a L’Oreal mascara as recommended by a TotalBeauty.com mascara list. A.. tubing mascara? It’s supposed to come off with water, which is super exciting to me, and on first swipe hasn’t clumped at all. Maybe L’Oreal is a good drugstore brand?

Amy’s meals are SOOOOOOOOOO good and all organic ingredients. The cheese enchilada meal is VERY good. Probably one of the best enchiladas I’ve ever had and my grandmother is Mexican who made Mexican food from scratch. Hers comes first, of course.

I need eye liner and I have been debating picking up a another UD pencil since every drug store pencil runs on me or transfers on my eye lids – they are my HG pencils. But trying to save money and I need to find something comparable. I am going to try these! I just can’t justify the cost of some make up items.

I love Amy’s! All the Mexican meals are pretty good, I usually bring them to the office for lunch. It makes me feel like I’m being a little healthy, haha.

I’ve been wanting to try these eyeliners because I’ve been reading really good things about them – looks like a trip to CVS is in order!
I hate to admit it, but I basically live on frozen meals and I concur that Amy’s are the best! The Kashi ones aren’t so bad, either!

Aw, too bad they don’t last very long on your water line. That’s a must for me…

Oh, nice. They last like UD (I’m a lash line only) and are at my local drug store? I think you know my next question. How many shades of brown? HAHA! I’ll have to check them out because my Whiskey is getting down to the nub stage. 🙂

I am sitting at my desk at work, looking at your blog and BAM! my mouth dropped open at the sight of these liners! THEY ARE GORGEOUS! I cannot believe the pigmentation of these and they’re drugstore. I will definitely be picking these up at Ulta this weekend!

That cobalt blue, though! Stunning! Though the staying power on the lower lash line isn’t great, I think if I layered the colors from my UD Electric palette on top of these when lining my waterline, they might go the distance. I love lowering my waterline with bold, bright, vivid colors like these. And the price point makes them even more appealing.

I LOVE these liners!! I have the gold and purple but want them all! For some reason I found the gold one on clearance at Target for like $3! They had just came out so no idea why that one was only $3 but I’m not complaining!

I have all the colors, and they’re all awesome. I’ve only used the highlighter on my waterline, and it lasts as long as any other.

There’s a shade called Highlighter that I’m eyeing, I think it would make a great and easy inner corner highlighter.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
