L’Oreal Aims for Infallible with Their New Le Rouge Lipsticks

February 18th, 2011 by Karen 26 Comments

Wearing L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in 812 Opulent Organza

Ironically, L’Oreal claims their new Infallible Le Rouge Lipsticks last up to 10 hours on the lips. I’ve only been getting about 6, but I think that’s still pretty great. After all, no one’s infallible. 🙂 Not even L’Oreal.

Whenever I hear about a new long-wearing lipstick, I think, “Geez, I hope it’s not too thick.” It seems like a lot of them sacrifice comfort for longevity, but this time L’Oreal managed to achieve both. Not only does the lightweight, non-drying formula feel wonderful (almost like a good pair of pajama jeans!), but it doesn’t have that cloying floral fragrance the company frequently adds (they’re also unflavored).

As for how they look, I’d say it’s like a satiny matte. The colors are rich and pigmented, not flat or heavy, and they look rather polished on the lips.

Unfortunately, packaging isn’t one of their strong points. I find them awkward to use and hard to open. I actually knocked over a cup of tea trying to pry the cap from the tube yesterday, but at least the plastic feels sturdy…

130 Enduring Berry on lips

On me, Infallible Le Rouge barely fades at all after meals. Definitely less than most lippies do, but after about 6 hours, the colors begin to exhibit signs of distress, settling into lip lines and looking cakey and uneven.

To say Le Rouge lasts 10 hours is a bit of a stretch, but even so, I think it’s a great drugstore product. Yeah, $10 is a lot for a drugstore lippie, but it’s also available in a slew of colors (30!).

PRICE: $10 (available in 30 colors)
AVAILABILITY: At drugstores, grocery stores, Ulta and online

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. So how was the rest of your afternoon? You doing anything fun? My tummy’s feeling a little better now, but it’s still not completely right, which means I should probably stick to crackers for dinner.

I can’t wait to show you a picture of my new hair! I got my roots done and added caramel highlights. I promise to post a pic soon, but at the moment I’m about to pass out…

I second this! Really pretty color. As far as the others, I didn’t think much of Enduring Berry in the tube, but it looks really pretty on. I really like when we get to see swatches. Thanks Karen!

I think I’ll buy the 2 colorful ones. It’s hard to find shades to go with my skin tone. I’m a NW45 in Mac foundation. I wish I was Nicki Minaj when it comes to bold lip color LOL

Hmm… If I’m gonna pay ten bucks for a lipstick, it needs to be prettier. That plastic looks like it would crack SOOOO easily.

Actually, I’m surprised how wearable these colors look! I’ve noticed that several brands have come out with really flattering colors for lots of skintones the past few months, namely the new Bobbi Brown lipsticks. I think I will give Opulent Organza a try just because it looks fabulous on you!

These look fab! $10 for a lipstick doesn’t actually sound all that bad (regular ‘ol run of the mill Revlon Super Lustrous ones are $9 here in Canada), and I’m loving the sound of a lipstick without that awful lipstick-y fragrance and taste.

Can’t wait to see the new hair 🙂

Wow – I am very impressed with how great they all look! I especially like the coral and opulent organza. I am definitely going to keep my eyes out for these at my local CVS! Combining coupons and extra bucks offers would be a great way to get these for cheap.

Drugstore lippies seem to be getting more and more expensive as is all drugstore makeup. And you can’t try colors before you buy. It’s nice to be able to return things, but I’d rather get the color right on the first try. I’ll try these because they sound good, but for a few dollars more, MAC would be my first choice and I can try them first. Hope you feel better soon!

Those look very wearable shades. Unfortunately I do not like at all that scent most Loreal lipstick have, sickly sweet fruity one.

I thought I needed a grown up vampy shade (Shanghai Express), tried it once and didn’t like the waxy smell, the dry feeling consistency and the color felt too out there. Now I found it again and I am in love. The waxy smell disappears quickly and the color pay-off and durability are amazing. And the color is so gorgeous.

Opulent organza is amazing on you! It looks like a great nude color thats not so one dimensional. Do you think it would work on skin a few shades darker than yours? Also, your lips are amazingly un-wrinkly.

I think all the colors look good on you! They don’t last too long though! I was crazy enough to buy 5 different colors…Well, I was actually feeling a little depressed at the time, which may explain the multiple purchase! I bought Rich Topaz, Tenderberry, Charismatic Coral, Intensely Mauve, and Brazen Bronze.
    Thanks for the pictures!
