I’m Sweet on Caramel: Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Caramel

August 11th, 2010 by Karen 54 Comments

dolce & gabbana sicilian lace collection caramel gloss review top

Calling all nudists! Before you strip off your Gap baby T, please note that I’m talking about nudists, as in nude lips, not, um…actual nudists. 🙂

If you love a nude lip look, let Dolce & Gabbana’s new Caramel Ultra Shine Lipgloss ($30), released with the Sicilian Lace Collection for fall, whet your appetite. This creamy, medium-weight warm beige feels slightly sticky on my lips (but not as sticky as a MAC Lipglass) and has a light rose scent (it is unflavored, though).

I get about two and a half hours of color from Caramel when I wear her all by her lonesome. I bet she’d also look divine layered on top of a favorite nude lip liner, too… Can you imagine? — with sooty black smokey eyes? love

For $10 less ($20 instead of $30), Caramel would be the P.I.M.P. of nude glosses. If you like the look, she might make a nice splurge. Available at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Speaking of nudes, happy hump day! 🙂

You might also want to check out Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss in Perfect Nude. It’s still a little pricey $20, but a great gloss!

Yeah, that seems like too much to pay for a lip gloss. I’ve been enjoying the formula of the Estee Lauder Pure Color gloss for $10 less. It’s also less sticky than MAC, but the color selection is not as extensive.

I’ve seen a really pretty one in The Body Shop (sorry I can’t recall the number) and also Barry M sells a good dupe (that tastes amazing, like caramel) for much cheaper prices

    WANT.THIS.NOW.

I am pretty sensitive to certain glosses/brands so I’m a bit apprehensive on buying since Saks doesn’t have a great cosmetic return policy like Nordstrom or Macy’s.

Hmm… I don’t know if I like how the colored settled into the lip lines. Although you are SO right about layering it over nude lipstick with a dark smoky eye. That sounds awesome right about now.

Not surprising that D&G is charging that much for it. Love the color but the only way I’d pay that much for a lipgloss is if I didn’t have to reapply it all day.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
