I’m Nuts Over Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter

February 23rd, 2011 by Karen 33 Comments

I can’t decide whether to praise or curse (a pox upon thee!) those little bins by the register at Sephora, with all their last-minute impulse purchase temptations… Last Saturday, after I’d already found what I’d gone into the store to get, I was in the checkout line when one of those blasted bins acquired the power of speech!

“Karen,” it whispered. “Over here, by the register.”

Of course, I had to look. I saw these little 2.5-oz bottles of Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter for $5. I grabbed one and took a quick sniff.

I love the scent, which Pacifica describes as a warm coconut vanilla, but I get more of a warm vanilla cake with coconut frosting and a light drizzling of dulce de leche on top. In other words, YUM! I’ve come damn close to gnawing off my arm Donner party-style, and each time I’ve worn it I swear I’ve craved cupcakes…

It may not be compatible with a calorie-restricted diet, but who cares? Like cupcakes, this stuff rocks. I think it’s just as wonderfully hydrating as the other Pacifica butters I’ve tried, and it’s even cruelty free.

Pacifica, my dry hands (and Tabs’ dry paws) salute you!

If you happen to like the scent and decide to stock up, it’s also available in a bigger 8-oz. tube for $18, which works out to be a slightly better deal per ounce ($0.47/ounce versus $0.50/ounce for the smaller tube). If you’re so inclined, you can also get the same scent in a body wash or perfume (solid, spray and rollerball).

PRICE: $5 for a 2.5-oz. tube; $18 for 8.5-oz
AVAILABILITY: At Sephora stores and online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy hump day! 🙂

those bins are the bane of my wallet and/or debit card! its like — im done shopping, right? but while waiting in line — all these cute litte things wave at me and call my name! 😀

ive smelled that body butter and was actually thinking of giving that collection to the hubs as part of his valentines day gift — he is cuckoo for coconut! he might balk at using the body wash though … so i gave him something else! 😀

Hi Karen! I’ve been using Indian Coconut Nectar in the body cream and shower gel for about a month now and I LUV THEM! I even went so far as to buy the roller ball fragrance as well. I think this fragrance will be great in summer because it reminds me of the tropics! I’m glad you like it too because I love Pacifica and I know you didn’t have that great of an experience with their lemon fragrance. I think you mentioned that it made you smell like parsley! Funny how people react differently to different fragrances. Try the shower gel in Indian Coconut Nectar. The formula is really thick and smells great in the shower!

I really like this brand. Coconut & grapefruit are my favorite though.

I like that they have a 2.5oz version, making it perfect for traveling. My skin gets so dry when I travel, so I love to have something like this in my carry on.

My legs get dry during the winter, so I am always interested in nice moisturizers. I think I’ll keep an eye out for this the next time I go to Sephora.

You’ve described the scent so perfectly, Karen. I picked this up too, from one of those bins at Sephora sometime back and totally love it. Might pick up a couple of small ones since they are easier to tote around 🙂 I love Pacifica in general 🙂 Tuscan Blood orange is a great one too!

I found cute little lip balms blessed with similar power of speech at Marks and Spencers – standing right at the billing counter…of course, they had to roll into the shopping bag 😀

I love that you managed to fit a Donner party reference in here. Awesome. I’ve missed those ever since I moved to Texas from Northern California. You are hilarious and made my day.

This sounds heavenly! I have just started washing my hair with a coconut scented shampoo and it’s gorgeous plus everytime my moves I get a whiff of delicious coconut!

I used to use the Body Shop coconut body butter which is lovely but quite pricey. At the moment I am using one my SO got me in a set from a lovely UK shop called The White Company which is called Seychelles, it’s coconutty with vanilla, bergamot and orange – heavenly! They do a whole range including candles too!

Seriously, for $5 for a tube, I could become a hoarder really quickly! I love Pacifica’s flavors and my wallet is definitely happy that there’s not a Sephora, with its foul-temptress-bins, nearby. 🙂

I love coconut too (just had a cup of coffee with Almond Joy International Delights Creamer- NOM!), so I bought to try, but I only think it’s ok. I get some sort of weird acrid smell along with the coconut, so it’s not a fav of mine. I should try some of the other scents though.

Actually, I had the same problem with the new B&BW Hawiian Coconut lotion, but that was much worse. The scent made me ill. I do LOVE Lavanila Vanilla Coconut Body Butter. No weirdness with this one. I got it as a deluxe sample & I’m almost out, so I need to pick up another one soon. I do wish they sold it in a travel size though, since I keep the one I have now in my bag.

Oh man, now I might have to give in! I saw this at the register, and I LOVE anything coconut, but I was strong and resisted. Oh Karen….how your posts break down my no-more-shopping wall.

Sounds great! Jack Black’s hand cream is the best I’ve found for dry paws, but the scent is AWFUL. I understand that it’s a men’ skincare line and the products warent a more ‘masculine’ scent, but does ANYONE really want to smell like cough drops all day? Bleck. Will have to try this one out!

Agreed, I picked up this one along with a few others as stocking stuffers at Sephora back in December. I kept the Tuscan Blood Orange for myself but I keep thinking about going back for a full size of that and this coconut one as well. I am really picky with my coconut scents and this one really fit the bill!

Oooo picked this up before Christmas and I lurves it! I got the big tube and the spray perfume.

Pacifica makes such quality stuff. I’m actually wearing the Hawaiian Ruby Guava today.

For those that are smelling a sharp or almost “smoky” smell in the back ground of the Coconut Nectar cream and scent it’s probably the vetiver.

I love, love, love this scent! I actually bought some Organix coconut shampoo & conditioner to go with the Pacifia body wash and lotion – so I could go all out coconut. I do agree with you – it is much richer and more yummy than a plain coconut scents!
