The Trader Joe’s beauty section should have a big-@ss warning sign above the aisle — something akin to “BEWARE! YOU’RE ENTERING SPUR-OF-THE-MOMENT SPENDING TERRITORY!”
That would work, or better yet a huge LCD screen with winged dollar bills floating away, since we’re moving toward a world where we will soon be communicating solely through emojis. ? ? ? ? ?
I’ve always had trouble saying “no” to anything having to do with makeup removal, especially face oils, because what goes on, must come off, so grabbing this facial cleansing oil was a no-brainer. Somehow, TJ’s found a way to make it smell like the most heavenly mix of eucalyptus, lemon verbena and roses, although, from a quick scan of the ingredients, it doesn’t appear to have any of those things in it!
And speaking of the ingredient list, it contains different types of oils, too, not just argan and coconut. I also see sunflower, crambe abyssinica seed (which is new to me) and capyrylic/capric triglyceride.
It doesn’t look like this will replace my beloved DHC Deep Cleansing Oil anytime soon. I mean, it’s fine for removing mellower makeup — basically anything non-waterproof is fine — but it can’t handle heavy-duty, long-wearing stuff on its own. It’s $7 for a 4-oz. bottle, though, so the price is right, and it doesn’t break me out or make my combo skin feel dry, so I’m not too crabby about it not being all that effective on long-wearing makeup. But still…I’m not about to go into hoarder mode for it. I’ll save that for when the Rose Hand Cream comes back!

I love your TJ’s beauty recommendations! Whenever I go to my local store, it is super busy and I don’t have time to stop and browse. Thanks for doing the browsing for me. 🙂 I liked the ginger grapefruit scrub you posted about a while back. I’ll have to check this out too!

I didn’t think I am sensitive but oddly enough most cleansing oils sting my eyes…granted I only tried the face shop one and now this one from Trader Joe’s. The only oil that my eyes like is the Kiehl’s one but that is too pricey. I use an inexpensive Micellar water, then the cleansing oil, then a cleansing mud from glam glow.
I do like the Trader Joe’s rose a lot. I used to use coconut oil and just wiped it. Imagine thinking of trying the body shop cleansing balm.

That cleansing oil is really nice for the price, I agree! When I’m in the mood to do a double cleanse, that is what I usually start with. But I’m a weirdo and don’t ever feel totally clean when using only an oil, so I end up following it with a gel anyway.
Can I just say that when I spied their new ginger hand cream (OMG IT IS SO GOOD) last week, the first thing I thought was “Karen needs to get this on her paws right meow!!” And then you did, and it made me happy.
Also, the almond-honey body butter in the trio of little body butter tins smells just heavenly, as does that gingerbread candle you mentioned. I may or may not have one sitting on the table next to me so that I can pick it up and huff it every now and again…

DHC was the first oil I ever used (before oils became trendy) and I loved it. I haven’t used it in a long time. I tried TJ’s. I didn’t like how thin it was. I have been using Julep’s for quite awhile and I really love it.
I love the rose hand cream too!

DHC is great! Fresh makes a lovely one too called Seaberry which I just started using. It’s just as good as DHC (and even a little more moisturizing).

Ooh – I’ll have to give that one a try.

Hi Karen,
I love this cleansing oil! I nearly cried when I went to my local Trader Joe’s to repurchase and learned that it’s been discontinued!
I’ve been using this product for over two years now, and it completely changed my life. It’s almost as if I hold the secret to the fountain of youth.
Luckily, I know that Trader Joe’s buys the patents from other companies, so this one is the Burt’s Bees cleansing oil. Hope this helps!
