Great Wear Time and Hydration Give $8 L’Oreal Le Gloss the Win

July 17th, 2011 by Karen 35 Comments

Okay, so you know those new L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Glosses?

Um…kind of awesome.

They come in 16 colors across a wide range of finishes and different levels of coverage, and they feel fantastic on my lips — smooth, comfy and non-sticky. They also have a very faint vanilla flavor and scent.

L’Oreal gave them argan oil, omega 3’s and vitamin E to condition lips, and I gotta say, these are among the most moisturizing drugstore glosses I’ve ever worn.

I was surprised by how long the color lasts. Wear time is great for a non-sticky gloss. I get about three hours out of them, and they’re even able to survive a snack and a glass of water.

Watermelon Crush

Baby Blossom

Violet Attitude

At $8, they’re on the expensive end of drugstore makeup, but I think even for that price they’re a steal. If you happen to catch them during a BOGO (buy one get one free) sale, even better.

PRICE: $8 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores and also online

Hi Karen, what is the pigmentation like on these?

(Because what I need is *more* lip gloss. I counted the other day, and I have over 500 glosses. How did this happen?! Please don’t judge 🙂

The colors on these glosses were fantastic and I wanted to grad a ton of them. But I had the will power to wait and at least read the reviews. Now my will power is degrading rapidly and I’ll probably go buy some the next chance I get.

I love lipglosses so much that I know I’ll pick some of these up. I normally don’t care much for packaging but these look better than a lot of drugstore lipglosses I’ve seen. Heck, I’ll probably end up with all of them at some point!

I bought Plum Crazy and was so disappointed. Instead of a sheer, deep plummy gloss, I got hot pink. It went back. However, I may have to try another color.

I bought two of these a few weeks ago but returned them. I had gotten a peach one and a nude one. I didn’t like that they are not scented or flavored at all. To me they had a chemical scent that I just couldn’t overlook. Maybe I’m too sensitive about scent but that’s just my opinion. Loved the color and feel of them though. I would repurchase if they added some scent or flavor.

Ugh, why do so many drugstore brands use metallic packaging? I’m mostly a drugstore gal myself but I hate how tacky everything looks!

    SOO CREEPY!

5 minutes ago i was reading my new issue of People StyleWatch and there was an ad for this lipgloss in a GORGEOUS coral color which I really liked, Then I went to your site and you were reviewing them!

Now i have to go buy one, I love L’Oreal!

I bought the Watermelon Crush and it’s very pretty. The other two look pretty on you, especially the violet one. I liked the texture, too.

Amanda, I’m not sure if this was the same lipgloss you purchased a few weeks ago because this one that I got has a very strong flavor/scent to it, kind of like vanilla cake frosting.

Wow, that is so weird! Yep these were the ones I had. I had bought the Peach Fuzz and Nude Illusion ones. Maybe I had a bad batch. I’ll have to maybe try a newer tube. Thanks for letting me know cause I really loved the peach one!

    These are 5.99 at Target right now and if you go here to complete a survey you can get 1 dollar off any l’oreal product. So woohoo for half price! http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/default.aspx#/?page=top{userdata//d+d//|diagnostic|main:diagnosticindex|media:_blank|nav|overlay:_blank}

Does anyone think Baby Blossom could be a dupe for NARS Turkish Delight?

I thought about that, but it seems like it’s too sheer. But I love milky glosses anyway, though, and this could be a good layering lipgloss. And the way I am I’ll probably slick on the whole tube at once just to get that Turkish Delight effect!

Oh, P.S. I found a semi-decent drugstore dupe for Turkish Delight. NYC’s Lip Sliders Tinted Lip Balm in Sugar Coated is a super-milky lip balm that I’m in LOVE with, it’s hard to find but it’s moisturizing and it gives you that TD effect for about $3…I’ve also heard that Victoria’s Secret lipgloss in LL2 Pink is a very close dupe, but I haven’t tried it for myself.

If you bought a color that turned out different than what it looked like on others, then more than likely it’s because of your undertones. Sometimes, depending on your natural lip color, it may interfere when lip gloss is put on. Have an open mind and don’t assume that it’s the brand.

I got the “nude” one the other day (not nude in the concealer lip way, more like the MLBB kinda way) and I do love it. I definitely want to try other colors, the watermelon one looks great on you.

These were on “manager’s special” 50% off at Kroger the other day, so if anyone’s near a Kroger, head that way. I picked up Baby Blossom, and I love it. The texture and moisturization remind me of Korres’ cherry oil lip glosses. 🙂
