Gold and Copper Lids Cozy Up to Chanel’s New Le Volume De Chanel Mascara in Prune

I love summer makeup. Love it, love it, LOVE IT!

Dewy, bronzed skin; lids luxuriating with shimmery golds and other precious metals; slick, shiny corals on my lips…

I feel like Meg Ryan in that scene from When Harry Met Sally — “I’ll have what she’s having” — except that I’m, um, totally not faking it.

I really, really love summer makeup. 🙂

The beauty brands are laying down their beach towels on the warm, sandy beaches of Makeup Land right now with their summer makeup collections…

I recently added some new Chanel to my summer collection sandcastle, and I’m loving it so far. It’s Chanel’s new $30 Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Prune, a do-it-all mascara in a blackish burgundy shade that lengthens, thickens and separates.

Basically, the whole shebang, and no flaking or smudging.

Look into my eye…

I’m wearing it here on bare lids.

I’m happy that Chanel showed some restraint with it (because they’re classy with a “c”). I think it’s super pretty on its own, but oh, boy — get it on a pair of shimmery gold or copper lids, and it’s gawgeous!

The way it contrasts with warm metallic shadows really cranks up the chocolatey volume of brown eyes, but I bet it would look just as ah-may-zing on blue, green, hazel and grey eyes.

I know it’s an overused term, but I do think Prune qualifies as universally flattering. I can’t imagine it not getting along with anyone. Plus, it’s a fun way to switch up your lash game on the weekdays while making sure that you still look professional at work…although I bet it would also look right at home at a Ga-ga concert (where we raise our lighters and belt out Speechless until our voices give out!). 🙂

ME TOO! It’s like all my ’80s dreams have come true and then some.

Which blue mascara from Chanel do you have?

Prune looks great! I have fair colored lashes and sometimes I feel like I need something that isn’t black or brown, depending on my mood. I want to pick this up!

    Hi Karen,

Your first photo was intense! I took me a few seconds to realize it was the wand! Prune looks gorgeous — I like how it’s more of a burgundy than a purple 🙂

I think I will have to put that blue waterproof mascara on my wish list. And the Glossimers look so pretty too.

Le Volume in Prune is good, I love the brush and it’s really long-wearing. I am a huge fan of Bad Gal and They’re Real but the Chanel mascara formula is amazing. I will purchase again, maybe in Blue or I’ll wait for the summer ones to arrive here !

Gorgeous colour, the prune makes yours lashes so natural. This look would go great with a cat eyeliner. If you use gel eyeliners to create a cat eye effect, a good tip is to always pick a thin and supple brush to create the look. Remember not to put too much liner on the brush, this will be the best way to prevent smearing and runs. Hope this helps!

Plum (Dior)and or prune (Chanel) is a great neutral for most skin types. Like blue the color softens the look for day and can be used with alot of eyeshadow colors. I have hazel eyes and plum shades really look fabulous on hazel eyes!
