How Sweet It Is To Wear These Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments

I’m going to file these Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments under, “GURL, what in tarnation was I thinking?! Why did it take me so long to get on this train?”

Shoot, I’ve walked by these so many times at my home away from home Sephora, thinking to myself, “Cute! But $22.50 cute? I dunno…”

I mean, let’s face it — they’re lip treatments. I figured there would be dozens of things just like ’em, but cheaper, at any drugstore.

These Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, which are available now in 10 shades, have been around a good long while. They seem to send beauty lovers into a crazy-pants tizzy every time a new color joins the fam.

I just haven’t understood the hype, ever since I got sample in a Sephora VIB gift set a few years back. I wasn’t impressed with it then, but looking back now, I think I may have gotten a bad tube, because the three colors I’ve been wearing this month — creamy pink Petal, sheer red Cherry and bold juicy Coral — are the cat’s meow.

Being the perfect time of year for casual lip looks, these kittens love summer. They have just enough tint to show up clearly on my pigmented lips but aren’t fully opaque, so I can still see some of my natural lip color.

And, hello moisture! When I use these throughout the day, all ye flakes be gone.

Mmm…

Oh! — my bad. Pardon me while I sit here rubbing my lips together all day long like a weirdo makeup pervert. 🙂 Because these feel fantastic on my lips. Just really buttery and comfortable.

Some folks aren’t big fans of the flavor and scent, but I kind of like ’em. They remind me of lemony fresh sugar cookies. I quite enjoy them.

And speaking of sugar, it is one of the ingredients…

“Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, a natural humectant, for delectable and dependable moisture. Sweet and tart black currant oil, rich in plumping essential fatty acids, cushions the lips while antioxidant grapeseed polyphenols and vitamins A, C, and E provide protection from wrinkle-causing free radicals. It provides essential, year-round protection from damaging UV rays.”

— sephora.com

Did I mention how much I love how these feel? They’re just so soft…but I probably wouldn’t leave them in the car on a hot day. I mean, they melt into my lips when I apply them, so I can only imagine what a 100-degree day would do to the super soft formula.

Yeah, I think I might have to obsessively collect the rest of these…

NOTE TO SELF: Swing by Sephora and check out the latest color, Tulip (it’s a hot pink!).

I highly recommend them as a gift for yourself. 🙂 You worked hard this week.

You can find them now at Fresh counters, Sephora and online for $22.50 each.

Raise your hand if you didn’t get any sleep last night!

Oh, boy. I stayed up way too late looking for hair inspiration because I have an appointment at the salon today to get a cut and color.

I’ve been leaning toward warm copper highlights…but I’m still not sure. I’ll probably decide at the absolute point-of-no-return last minute.

So what’s new, right?

Copper!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I got two sample-sized Fresh Lip Treatments (clear and Rosé) as my Sephora birthday gift two years ago, and though I used both of them up, I can’t bring myself to pay for the full-sized version. I didn’t find them any more moisturizing than Chapstick, and for $22.50, I expect them to work a freaking miracle on my desiccated lips. The brushed metal cases are adorable, though, and the lemon scent is delicious. 🙂

I love Fresh Sugar lip treatments. Like Auxiliary Beauty, I got them as a bday gift from Sephora but I had purchased one as well as other products from the brand previously. My problem is that the bullet always manages to break off the tube long before I’m finished with it. Till they fix that problem, I am staying away since it is a pricey little item.

I absolutely love these Fresh lip balms.. I have a mini set from last year and love it! The only downside.. they melt off in summer! Penelope Cruz is stunning in the picture! 😀

    Whoa! There are more colours?!

I remember the birthday gift that included these. 🙂 I fancy them, but I didn’t like the price. I might indulge a bit, and pick up the coral! I’ve been late to the coral trend for the season, and now I’m obsessed with coral.

p.s. I like the scent, also! Lemon is one of my favourite flavours. MMmmmm, lemon cookies…..

A new shade that’s a hot pink! Karen, I just finally bought one of these 3 weeks ago. The Berry is my perfect MLBB shade because it’s the exact color of my lips with one layer and one shade darker with two. Talking to the SA’s at Sephora they recommended I get these over the Bite BB line, so I took the plunge.

i’ve gotten two samples of these from Sephora, and while i love the feel and color, they ALWAYS break because they’re too soft. am i doing something wrong?! until they’re more solid, i won’t buy them, because they’re so hard to put on gently enough.

Hi Karen! I’m so pleased that you gave these a positive review! I took a leap of faith a few weeks ago and purchased these online. I love a good tinted tip balm but so many have a less than desirable scent to them. In Australia, we can’t get the US/UK versions of the Maybelline Babylips – ours come with high spf, which makes them taste really gross.

I’m going to be very excited when these arrive in the post!

    Thanks for your awesome review.

Ooh! You took the plunge! 😀 As a kiwi tinted lip balm addict, I TOTALLY know what you mean about the ‘sunscreen flavour’ that everything here comes in…it’s part of the reason I use the Nivea ones more than the Babay Lips…

I LUV Fresh Sugar lippies! I just got a Rose one in my Sephora VIB Rouge GWP last week. It also included an Advanced Therapy balm, Sugar Shine Lip Treatment and Sugar Lip Polish. MMMM! You can’t beat the scent/flavor of these products.

Just saw your hair tweet. C-ute! I’m too fickle to dye my own. I tried it once and had a new color every week. Never again. Until the grays come. Eek!

I remember enjoying the Sugar Lip Treatments, but my lips can always use an intense moisture surge. So if I ain’t wearing lipstick or gloss, I’m all about the Jack Black Balm, baby!

Love Fresh Sugar! I have the Rose one – it moisturized so well on my road trip and trip to St. Lucia recently.

I love these balms! I’m sensitive to scents and these don’t bother me 🙂 I love Jack Black Lemon Chamomile, but when I’m migraine prone I use Jack Black mint or Fresh lip treatments…I have thrown all my other balms out! That coral is damn amazing btw, now I want it! 😀

I love these! I was also introduced with the birthday sample. It’s the only lip (anything) where I finish the tube. I got a 3-pack around Christmas (but mine came with honey instead of coral). All I’ve worn for the past few weeks is petal. It’s so moisturizing and I love that it smells like sugar.

I actually like these balms! They’re really hydrating and I love the smell. I just hate how soft they are. They’re easy to mush

My favorite balm! I always have a tube in my purse and at home. Chapstick just doesn’t do it here in Phoenix. As mentioned before I dig the remainder out when I hit the bottom of the stick and put it in a little jar to use. I am not sure why, but I have NEVER had one break. I use the brown tube plain version, but.. . . . . I just yesterday received my order from Sephora for the “Flower Power” kit. omg – the tulip is just divine! Karen you have to swatch it when you get your hands on some. It is a nice clear kinda hot pink. Love it.

I’m salivating over those Sugar lip treatments. I’ve never tried them, but all the colors look wearable. Sheer color? Buttery feel? I’m all over it. I need to drop hints that I want the set of 7 for Christmas. Karen, in the pictures it looks like there’s plenty of color–more than most tinted lip balms. Did you have to put on a lot?

Copper highlights would be lovely in your hair!
